  3. Depends on the resolution you want for your gear. If you want the best, obviously a network of traders will give you that, with first best coming from another build that travels a few levels behind.

If you can make a build that is using one utility... wouldn't you always be wondering what your build would be like as a zero utility build? With a bargaining network you can do that. And without it... you'll always be thinking... man, what could I have done without that utility skill...and the ruminations will keep going.

For myself, it's taking forever get traders properly placed...in that respect this game is beginning to have wonderful chess appeal...place your pieces in strategic squares to control the board. Much like in Chess you have to control center four squares to buttress and then form attacks which you can launch into the heart of the enemy.

Bargainers help us do that by having us leapfrog the zero utility builds all the way to level 200.

Elegant, fun, and something to do besides work on the seventh largest independent wiki in the world.

p.s.s.Dreeft, did you make that sheppard's pie yourself? Looks delicious

    Yum!

I did and it was my first attempt. I was quite impressed how easy it was and it has lasted me multiple dinners and work lunches. Perfect!

  5. I got a bit sucked into D3 when it was announced but now I am over it completely. They've done a poor job with the pre-release hype, but I can appreciate them wanting to make it the best they can. Hopefully it's not already past it's use by before it arrives.

Sacred 2 is still a great game (if you can look past the bugs) in regards to gameplay, storyline, play style, items, builds and of course the community. For this reason I don't consider it dated and I believe it has more to give. I will let Sacred 3 take it's course, when it comes, it will come and hopefully it'll be complete.

  6. Interesting topic. I was a console player for a while before coming to PC, and I have a few thoughts on why this may have been done on Console.

for one its darn dangerous to enter a server with another player that isn't at your level. because the monsters spawn at the level of the host. you could walk into an instant rip easily.

On PC there is only the difficulty caps. silver is levels 1-100, gold is 60-140 etc

I have gotten into trouble a couple of times entering a new server with a level 1 char and running into level 40 elves and getting wacked dead in 1 second. so on PC we have all learned to be very careful when entering servers with a wide range of players.

It seems like in off-line couch co-op there is not 10 level cap. on console.

    This is exactly my thinking.

My level 13 dryad died last night when a level 30ish player jumped in near me and spawned some enemies at his level. I was kind of glad that I had accidentally made her SC

I had never seen this issue playing on Console and it's because of the level gap. It is a very handy setup for new players. I do agree that it would have been nice to be able to set the gap (or no gap) on a case-by-case basis, but as you said that would allow the potential for power leveling. In my limited PC play time I have already been given the opportunity to use this technique to some extent and my girlfriend insinuated that I was a cheat :P

I suppose somewhere along the line they had to work out how to manage it and they decided a level cap was the most effective method. Unfortunately due to Ascaron closing, it's very unlikely it will ever change. The only real solution I found to deal with it was to start a new toon with the person you want to play with and level up together.
