  1. Well, 1.187,00 NOK is quite alot for a gamble, true.

Yes, it's expensive. Norway is a very expensive country. That's why it's rich, along with the oil ofcourse.

I have a 400W PSU in an old computer. I also have two memory chips that makes for 1024 MB RAM.

But there's no chance to getting the computer up and running without a GPU, is there?

    Btw, what is EOL hardware?

  2. Does your motherboard come with a processor or not? It can be troublesome to acquire a good processor for that socket, since the better models are highly sought-after in the second hand market, and they are hard if not impossible to find new. If you do not have a processor, I would do a search for that first and make sure you can get one. Otherwise you might be better off with different parts.

Anyway, if you could do me the favor of finding a Norwegian hardware store with a good website, I will be able to help you out selecting the parts.

    EDIT:

Our posts were basically at the same time.

Your selected parts are perfect. Exactly what I would recommend.

You could even downsize on the PSU if you would want to, as I said, a 400 watt PSU like that one would fit your needs as well.

Yes, the processor is still there.

I hope the computer will run. There's a reason my brother bought a new one.

It stopped working for some reason. I just hope the problem was in the power supply or GPU, and not the processor or motherboard.

And by the way, the picture I posted of the power supply is of a 500W one.

Here's a link to the site on which I found those parts:

  3. I found some parts on a Norwegian computer site.

Will this do for power supply? :

    Corsair CX V2 500W PSU

    ATX 12V V2.3, 80 Plus, Standard. 2x 6+2pin PCIe, 5x SATA, 120mm Fan

    And this for memory:

    Corsair Value S. PC3200 DDR-DiMM 2GB

    Kit w/two matched Value Select 1024MB (x2)

  4. Thank you very much, Timotheus.

That was excactly what I needed to know.

So I should basically just forget two videocards?

I've been searching different sites online to find memory chips, but I've only found some on ebay (which can be a little risky).

I guess I'll just look around some more.

    Thanks for the info anyway.

Perhaps now I can finally run Age of Empires 1 without lag...

  5. I once quit a new job after only one day.

The people and environments were p*ssing me off.

I could have worked there for 3 months in agony, but what is the point of that?

When you get a job in which you don't feel comfortable at all, just leave it.

Life is too short to waste on things you really don't want to do.

When it comes to work, there are always opportunities around.

  6. My brother recently gave me his old cabinet with a MSI K8N Diamond plus motherboard.

Would any of you be so kind as to tell me how to max it out with GPU's and memory?

I've been looking around on the net for some answers, but my computer skills are not high enough to fully understand the information.

I got a friend who is willing to give me a XFX GeForce GTS 250 1GB.

    Will this card work?

    I need:

Two videocards that goes in my motherboard

    4 GB of RAM

    A sufficient power supply

Any help would be much appreciated.

  7. Hard one is Dark City.

    Correct!

Would anybody like to try the medium one?

(The screenshots seems awfully dark here at the work-pc, but looks OK at my laptop at home,

also, I shoot the screens myself, directly from my DVD's)

No one guessed it. History of Violence :)

You got Dark City right, so turn goes to you if you want it.

History of violence is wrong. The movie is Eastern Promises. ;)

  8. Yeah. The guy's been real busy. 93 dead so far.

86 on the island, and 7 from the bomb in the city.

Death count is expected to rise even further, as not everyone have been accounted for.

He is the worst mass murder/spree killer in Norwegian, perhaps scandianvian modern history.

I've read alot about it on the internet.

The bomb was made out of at least 1000 pounds of fertilizer.

He is supposed to have planned this for 9 years.

  9. The trailer looks interesting and it shows promise, but sometimes I think it's best to leave classic movies as just that......classic. ;)

    I know what you mean.

Still, I really want to see more of the thing, so I'm going to see it for sure.

    Like the star wars universe.

There is so much going on there, and I can't get enough of seing what kind of planets and creatures they will come up with next.

  10. I thought Quackers were a high energy sonar? Known to be whale killing?

That might just be. Haven't read anything about sonars though.

The Russians certainly didn't recognize it as such.

    Wow, that's one scary rabbit.

Must be a b*tch to meet one in the woods for sure, haha.

Strangely, every rabbit-related cryptid seems to be a hoax.

Other cryptids are more believable, like the thunderbirds in the US.

There have been reported sightings in Arizona, Illinois, Alaska and Texas.

Giant birds might just exist, and shouldn't be too hard to observe as they cannot hide inside a thick forest or in the deep ocean like other famous cryptids.

Observers of thunderbirds claims that they can reach a wingspan of 18 feet.

I really want to see at least one of these elusive animals be revealed to the world.

  11. Lately I've been very interested in Cryptids.

That is creatures not yet accounted for by science, but seen and heard by many people around the world.

Some famous cryptids are Nessie, Bigfoot, Chupacabra etc.

I simply refuse to believe that we have seen all there is to see on this earth.

So does the creators of TV-shows like monsterquest and animal x.

Some are hoaxes, others might be very real.

Here's an example of a deep sea mystery:

"Quackers" are mysterious sounds, similar to a frog noise, widely reported by the crews of Soviet Navy submarines from various parts of the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans during the peak of the Cold War, as well as their assumed sources. They are an example of Unidentified Submerged Objects.

    Now that gets me thrilled!

    The-Quacker.png

Do any of you have stories, or perhaps even run-ins with such creatures?

Unfortunately, Norway is rich on folklore, but not modern sightings.
