I don't think DA Lore was the greatest pick, but definitely not a mistake (compared to a lot of other choices). I will also have to look at your IS buff mods, I forget what they do again. iirc Arrant Expertise is never needed while you use buff-suit tricks UNLESS you have some plan around eating 25,000 runes (the limit in the console version).

What would you have valued over DA Lore, I was hoping it was raising the Regen amount of my Grand Invig. and maybe strengthen my Expulse Magic

Combat Reflexes (evasion), Combat Disclipline and EP are all valid choices for that 10'th spot in my Fire elves (I always use Barg. on console). But, DA Lore is a fine choice, as you also get boosts to almost every modifier you make in that aspect. More HP regen from GI... more damage from Shadow Step (with that mod)... more RpH from Magic Coup...

There are some things I do slightly differently with my Pyro elves but nothing entirely backbreaking: I put all attributes into Vitality and Constitution is at character-level as my primary defence skill. This gives the HP-pool needed for when things get thru your primary protections - blocking and reflecting. With proper gearing, you can also absorb (armor and/or mitigation) a lot of damage, but that hurts your offence too much (IMO).

You don't lose a large amount of damage from not raising Int? Really Constitution at character level ? Beyond mastery?

Not a lot of damage, I don't think... and typically Stamina is the stat you want to boost with casters for increasing your damage overall. I think on PC there are ways to get %-boosts to your Int, but on console there isn't a lot... making putting points there somewhat suboptimal. Not necessarily incorrect, though.

  2. Wow... nice chart. I have a lot of issues producing something like that in forums, so you did do something correct! The post looks fine (now).

First things first, Grand Invigoration never needs a buff suit! Eat dem runes, as many as you can possibly afford to. You also have Armor Lore and Conc. "5th" but that's OK as technically you can have 3 skills mastered as you hit level 75, if I'm not mistaken.

But, you are correct in that you have a solid toon. Having Barg. at a high level does so much for a toon without access to a huge shared stash / trading. Just without Toughness and the low-ish HP pool you have from being an Elf is not going to let you get too far ahead of yourself (unless you don't care about 1000 deaths).

All in all, just keep plugging along. You are kindof at a point where you have to just gain some levels, although it would be 'better' to farm in early Platinum (buying level 50-60 platinum-quality gear at shops), you can gain levels faster farming mobs in Gold.

  3. Heh... I suppose that's my fault :P

Level 60 entering Platinum does have some requirements of a toon, they must be very solid not only offensively but with defence as well. Also, abusing the mechanics to some degree.

    1) are you using a buff-suit for casting your buffs?

    2) Pyro elves are one of the squishiest toons to be trying to fight platinum enemies 15 levels above you (as you found out...). BUT, with proper skills and gear, it still should be fine. If you want advice, it is definitely not too early to correct skill point errors or shore you up with your level 65 skill pick.

    3) Or, just head back to gold for some boss-farming or levelling runs. You have access to the Platinum difficulty for forging, or making runes to socket (for +6 to your CA, iirc). Those really help for building OP buffsuits ;). Reenter platinum probably closer to level 65 and you will have to slow down and do some item-hunting and/or shopping runs to get some serious damage rocking for the final 3 areas of Platinum....

    Happy Hunting :dntknw:

  4. Yeah, I found (particulary) Lost Fusion almost unplayable on console, since the 'ideal' target for all LF ca's is never the one the "random target generator" picks for you on console. Major pet peeve of mine (the targeted CA's on console).

For me, the HE's meteor spell was always paired with Magic Coup, (with RpH to insta-recharge the combo). Today's special: Incendiary Spam.. watchout, it's spicy! :chef:

  5. Welcome to the forums, Varthorne!

Level 200 is a goal reached only through extensive replaying with a character. I forget the actual amount of time it takes, but considering a lot of builds can handle the highest difficulty in the low 100's, finishing the game around level 110-120... that leaves a lot of farming for XP (or legendary items, w/e).

Of course, it takes 750 points to master all your skills, and IIRC at level 50 you start getting 5 points per level. No problem to master all your skills, if you want; however typical toons go for 4-6 skill masteries for their endgame so it may be better to plan around that.

If you have other questions, feel free to ask, it's a complicated game and screwing up a toon but not realizing it until it is too late really sucks, as there is no respec in this game.

    Happy Hunting!

  6. From what you have it seems like Console has a slight edge, I know not being able to socket Niob rings in lower level gear is a big difference. But what about Graphics and gameplay?

Controller fits into the gameplay question.

Alrighty, back from work, time to elaborate!

Gameplay: As far as Fallen Angel, console definietly had a huge edge; since in the consoles, RpH worked, but in PC it did not. The addition of Ice and Blood (IMO) puts the PC version ahead of console (working RpH, new class, new areas, rebalancing of the game), and if you add the CM-patch (many, many bugfixes), it gets very far ahead.

Graphics is a tricky question: all console play the same game, graphics details, etc... but different PC's have to utilize different graphics settings just to get this beast running, so if you have a PC that is comparable to a PS3 (processing-wise), then PC wins... but lower-end machines will probably lose in this department.

Even when I played on console, socketing high-level rings into low-level gear was a no-no. Makes the game way to easy (when it isn't that hard to start with if you have a competent guide/toon). So I never considered that in my comparisons. One huge thing is local co-op... but for me this meant shopping runs! On PC you have to teleport from town to town to reset merchant inventories... but as the second player in local co-op, you ony have to quit and rejoin the server to get a fresh stock of goodies. ie. load up your Niob dude and run into town and park him near a merchant. Join game with level 2 shopper and you have access to level 2 gear with Niobium-quality modifiers, with 'instant' inventory resets.

I can say that the keyboard controls are quite clunky compared to PC and I have to look away from the screen to do half of the stuff I can do with a controller without looking down. BUT, that could just take time/practice to master the keyboard controls.

  7. Hmmm... where to start?

Steam - not sure the best way to describe it, but the simplest explaination is that they sell PC games. You do have to d/l a 'client' program to your own PC before you can 'use' it, but there is also a community (forums) and I think maybe you can join MP games via their servers (for some games, but not Sacred).

The most important thing Steam has done for people who want to play Sacred, is to offer Sacred Gold (Sacred 2 + expansion, Ice and Blood) as a single, hassle-free download. Not sure if you are aware, but Sacred 2 was always a huge pain to get running for a lot of people, as well as people who had the "North American version" had a very hard time installing the Ice and Blood expansion. You had to patch the game several times, etc... and many, many threads here are devoted to getting the game running on PC.

I am still getting used to the game again, but the main points I always held for the console version were:

Plug'n'play: Insert disc and play. No hassles, patching, running as Admin, deactivating UAC, blahyadablah. EDIT - Steam literally evened the playing field on this point, it is kina moot, now.

Controller: PERFECT for the game, IMO.

Inventory system: while I was on console, I thought it was better; and now that I have played PC, it is MUCH better on console.

I'm rushing a bit, there could be other points I am forgetting... but to sum up what the PC version does better (aside from the major rebalancing of the I&B expansion) can be summed up with a couple of simple comparisons (console version : PC version)

    ice cream : banana split

    fries : poutine

  8. Thanks for the replies, everyone... now for some more? :D

since I have to download another program anyway... I will ask a related question: should I just go for a recording program, and use the screen shot capabilites from that for my games? I have heard postive things about taksi but I don't know what other (free/cheap) programs are out there.

    TIA!

  9.

A strange land we live,... learnt driving on a Porsche when 5 , upgraded to a Lamborghini with 8, a Mercedes with 10, a BMW with 16 and couldnt wait to be 18 for a fulll driving license fo my mom's Volkswagen Beetle.

When this was your signature, I always thought you had horses (named, Porsche, Lamborgini, Mercedes and BMW). But, farm equipment is even funnier!

Since moving quite far south from where I was, winter has been a little shock.. today was almost 10oC, and the only snow left is in piles where it was plowed from the 2 or 3 snowfalls we've had so far this year. Rain in winter is annoying, even if it's not freezing rain. Weather is too cold for a rain jacket, and getting your winter jacket soaked is very bad :(

  10. It is a 'known' issue and I just ignored that glitch. It happens everytime for some toons, and almost never with others. It has been too long since I played console so I cannot recall which ones were which. I don't think there is anything you can do about it, but I don't remember any issues with CA's when this bug happened so I never worried about it. Are you sure it's the info screen that is making your CA regens weird?

  11. I suppose you can build your TiV-combo slot with a buff-suit. So, when you do cast your TiV, it lasts (a lot) longer. Of course, this increases your sunlight damage, so care must be taken when using it. Other than that, changing mid-battle is just the one small downside of the perma-vamp.

I can't think of any modfiers or other ways to lengthen the spell without increasing the level, though.

  12. Ah, so that was you, was it Cathy? I saw the post while I was perusing the Steam-o-verse.

First time using them and I was quite glad I did it thru them as I had a lot of issues just getting the game downloaded. Long story short, my PC died after getting about 95% of it d/l... then about 2/3 of the way thru the second d/l (after a week in the shop), I get booted from the 'free' network I use (probably from the tonnes of d/l I was doing). Then about 3 hours of manually installing the drivers (including searching Steam help pages for the answers... which were spot on) and forgetting to restart the PC, giving up, remembering that I had to restart for the drivers to take effect, and ...

    :cow_white:

Edit @ wolfie: I was playing Sacred Underworld... probably that's what you remembered ;)

Edit2 - haha I just realized I bought the game on Dec. 21, and it 'only' took me a little more than a month to get it running on my PC. Just like a lot of posts I have read :smart:

  13. So, inspired by the $10 sale on steam over the holidays, I decided to (finally) get Sacred 2 installed on my PC.

After 2 or 3 years of (nearly) constant play on the consoles, my PS3 died long ago, and my brother took his Xbox when he moved a couple years back, so I do have to say I am a little excited to be playing again :)

I haven't tried playing online yet, but started a shadow warrior just to get used to the controls, etc and I have to say I am very impressed with the 'real' version so far. I could nitpick the things I like about console, but at the end of the day, I have I&B... and can get the CM patch if I so desire so I look forward to another few hundred thousand hours of Ancarian adventures.
