the white "locked" rock is really close to a resurrection shrine. do I need to go into the cave entrance nearby instead?

I'm currently level 26 dryad, light campaign, trying to complete the Wet Danger quest. have come upon the big white rock, that is "locked", and blocking entrance to river/lake/octopus boss. the Grurag Shaman is no help either. I've reloaded twice with no difference. yes, I'm blonde and directionally challenged, but could somebody puh-leeeeze give me some direction?!? sacred-less until solved...
