  1. If you get tired killing wabbits you can go kill elk. The hunting quest at Blessed manor asks you to get three pelts. Once you get those then you can wipe out all the elk in the clearing north of the manor; let them respawn and kill them again. Those are the only non-vicious animals that become targets that I've found so far.

  2. I prefer Kuan for close combat builds (inquisitor, shadow warrior) and for the dragon mage as he really doesn't have a "assigned" god. Lumen tends to back up the seraphim's cleansing brilliance buff when overwhelmed with undead or T-mutants but agree Testa would be a good group choice as well. My high elf has Forens but I'm usually too busy keeping her alive when massive mobbed to remember to hit the "G".

  3. Doesn't one of the Fire Demon mods quicken your casting time as well? Got to be useful just for that if you manage it right.

Just because he casts faster doesn't mean he is more accurate. I guess it depends on your build as to how much you want to depend on the HE's fire CAs. There are some very good Pyro builds on the forum but there are just as good Ice builds as well.

  4. I found the Dryad really easy to play with on my first runs through Bronze and Silver. I used a Capricious Hunter turret build and pretty much obliterated everything before it even got near me. Was the odd area I had to ease off a bit but for the most part it roled through the game with ease.

The dryad with Capricious Hunter CAs, malicious totem and ancient bark gets near invincible pretty quickly with the right mods. I've found her and the shadow warrior the two biggest killing machines for someone just starting out. The inquisitor dual wielding fire and ice uniques also gets off to a good start but requires care with his CAs and mods to keep him a killing machine and alive down the road as he doesn't have any real shield/defense skills. Just my three cents (inflation).

  5. Im currently running round the grand inquisitors garden in thylisium killing the rabbits with a LA

    what has come over me?

Maybe you got frustrated because the big rabbit with the "?!" running around won't talk to you? There's a line before the quest that one of the NPCs utters about "Talk to the rabbit" and you tried to do so?!

  6. Heya,

last time I played the Pyro, the Fire Demon was really underrated. He did actually give a very nice boost to fire damage. Don't expect him to much more than that tho :P

    Greetz

I found that the boost he gave to the fire damage didn't compensate for the fact that he missed most of the time. Once I got the regen times down low enough to spam fireballs I turned him off and turned on crystal skin instead. I think he's a good buff early on when the HE hasn't got her rune level up to do much damage as he does aggro and takes some of the attention off the HE. I haven't used him past my HE getting to level 30.

  7. Generally, I can also keep Shirka Alana around as well, but she is a little aggro for my liking, but one isn't too bad.

    List of invulnerable "aggro" escorts:

Tutorial Relics - if you get the baby bear before getting to human lands.

    The Tame Bear

    Shirka Alana (class quest)

The soldiers mentioned earlier in this thread

Gah! I know there's more, just can't think of them off the top of my head.

If you do the class quest to the point where Shirka is thrown out of the Inquisitor guard and asks you to help recover her equipment she will not aggro but just follow you about if you don't get all her equipment. Also the boy in Sloeford for the Tutorial Runemaster will not aggro but then you won't have a runemaster in Sloeford. The mage at the farm where you talk to Mary's father after rescuing her from the Kobold village will run around attacking but doesn't incur damage until you get him to the ruins.

There is also the Prodigal Son quest north of Sonnewind.

  8. There are a lot of sarcophogi (sp?) in Orpheus' cave.. But they haven't anything to say, if I recall correctly. Some might pop up the odd zombie, but they're of the braindead variety...

Though, there is a stone that reads something to the effect of Orpheus has stepped out and leave a message and he'll get back to you kinda thing.

There is a tombstone referring to Lorimor in the room where he is waiting and one referring to Pyx in the NE corner of the main room with all the sarcophogi. I think there is a latin or other language inscription on the marker in the NW corner as well.

  9. There is a grave in Hidden Valley (Elixir of souls quest) that reads:

    Gravestone

Here lies the unknown adventurer. Or rather whatever the wolves left of him.

There is another grave at the top of the hill also part of the same quest that I believe reads "Judd G. Turpin - One close shave too many."

I checked the Wiki but did not see a page with just individual graves listed only cemeteries.

There is also the grand tomb hidden in the woods on the northwest side of the main road leading to the elven camp where the Orpheus quest starts.

  10. Well, thank you both for info!

I didn't know that windows updated the driver.

    But that's just great.

From my experience, gameplay gets alot smoother and more stable when only the driver itself is updated.

Many of those programs that adds new features and such usually seems to slow things down, unless you know exactly how to handle them, ofcourse.

If you want Win 7 to download but not install new updates you can change the setting to manually install so that you can choose to delete or install the new updates at your discretion. Click on Window Update in the All Programs portion of the start menu. Then choose Change Settings and use the drop down choices under Important Updates. Drivers and updates for other programs are usually listed under the recommended updates.

  11. RE: magnifying glass to use on websites: Internet Explorer comes with built-in accessibility features that you can turn on/off to allow you use the computer to magnify parts of web pages, or... you can change the default font sizes to larger...

I did both of these things for a co-worker before her cataract surgery. It really helped her!

    Cheers!

Yeah, I know about the built in magnifier but I don't need everything big. It is easier and quicker to grab a magnifying glass when I want to take a real good look at some detail in a game like the three dots when mastering a skill in sacred 2 or on a webpage that might otherwise get overlooked because of its tiny size. Besides, the magnifying glass sits on top of the desk for when I am doing other things not on the computer.

  12. I just thought it would be easier than making those little rounded points. After all we already have a triangle breaking up the right side.

I already made this one. This was a screenshot from the ingame menu with the modified frame in action. :)

So is this going to be included in the next CM patch? In case no one has mentioned it, we who are lacking in modding skills, really appreciate you and the others doing all that modding work and research. It keeps the game fresh and even more interesting. :)

  13. That framing looks pretty good. How hard would it be to square off the left side instead of leaving it rounded, I.e. bring the gold out more to make it flat?

That would not be hard at all. The pictures have a square format anyway, but does a square frame around a rounded button inset really look that good? :)

  14. Just downloaded it but I'm a little wary due to the fact I have dual OS's.

Win7 is on one HDD and XP on the other. If I defrag from XP could it screw up things on the Win7 install?

I tend to agree with the old saying "if it aint broke don't fix it" :P

Actually Win 7 does continuous defrag in the background or when the system is idle so you shouldn't need to defrag that drive. My Win 7 drive never shows more than 3% fragmented when I check it. And both OSs use the same file system so the XP defrag will work as Stubbie stated.

  15. @rnarchlord

I removed my equipment for the picture, normally all my skills would be blue and above 200.

    @ololcat

Yes, you are right at this. But you have to click on the skill to see this. With bad luck 5 times if you just leveled and and are already at 70 points without knowing it.

    @czevak

Would be nice. After some eye surgeries -including my eye put out of my head, fixed and inserted again- I hate to look for these small dots :)

    @chattius

I believe my remark and the remarks of the others were more for the benefit of others not that familiar with the notations used in the game and not aimed at you. I am certain that you are well versed in the game as you have answered many questions about obscure things in the game. Sorry to read about your visual acuity loss. Even with my excellent monitor I still keep a magnifying glass handy for some of the fine detail stuff in various websites. And yes, I am an old timer. :P

  16. Hi Shattered yeah Im leaning towards a SW for my first toon, And I pretty sure im gonna restart a few times lol. Thanks for the info man.

If you do go with the SW his natural weapon choice is hafted weapons and there are a lot of tidbits in the SW forum worth perusing to get you off to a good start. Welcome to the community.

  17. Besides the German food and the proximity to San Antonio the best attraction New Braunfels is noted for is the Schlitterbahn water park. No castles but a great way to cool off in the TX heat. The town is getting bigger every year due to being close to SA.

As for Canadian food, didn't have anything as good as the original post here when we played Kingston in college when I lived in NY. I vaguely remember having Americanized food at the local eatery.

  18. only by unequipping all items, or look at your stats in the sigma in the inventory, there you should see +x concentration/+x all skills/...

    I found it!

I got 2 items which give me extra 10 point skill.

    Thanks everyone for help. :)

On behalf of all here, you are welcome.

  19. I think, however, that part of the problem lies in the region. I can generally make it through the elf region without too much hassle and once I get into the Orc region and beyond, I seldom have issues. But in Artamark - all bets are off.. I have to be very, VERY careful. Of course, Artamark is the largest area.

I even posted another thread - with similar issues - on here.

I don't know about problems with the Atamark region as I transferred my saved games from the US version to Gold when my characters had gotten to Dragonmaw Pass. Have been playing the seraphim and the SW in Atamark without any major glitches. Had a minor glitch at the Kuffer... castle though finishing the dark crusade quest line. Clicked on the guard after killing the guardian demon way too quickly and now he tags along with the seraphim but doesn't do anything! He doesn't fight or get attacked or aggro mobs but just shadows her everywhere. Hopefully he'll drop off with the next escort quest.

  20. Hey there,

I recently just set out to get the mount for my character but the boat is not where it is on your map.

    I have looked everywhere...

is it a glitch or a problem with my game?

    :)

Just wondering, did you talk to the archeologist before and after finding the map? Was there a dock but no ship or did you not find either the dock or the captain by the waterfront? After you talk to him the second time take the path by him north to the buildings by the waterfront then head west to the last building and then north. Should be a dock with the captain pacing on it; if not either the game is glitched or you missed a step on the quest.

  21. Concentration Mastery is achieved w/ 75 skill points put into the Concentration Skill, +skills from items don't count toward mastery. Hope this helps. Good luck!

    Thanks for quick feedback.

I see the 75 points in the Concentration skill menu.

Maybe I got some items which give me extra concentration skill, there is a way to check this from the skill menu?

If a skill is raised by items such as "concentration +2" on rings, armor or weapons the color of the number in the skill listing screen will be blue. If no item modifiers are acting on that skill then the number is white when you check the skill screen. Unfortunately, there is no way to determine by how many points a skill is raised by looking at the numbers on the skill screen. You have to look at the sigma listing in the inventory screen and add up all the items that are affecting that skill, e.g. all skills +x, combat skills +x, defensive skills +x, concentration +x, etc..

  22. No, I saw this

    http://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=14845

and it was too difficult for me to understand, so I thought: "is there a way to obtain a good sward or a good armour or another item instead of chainging the proprietis of the item I already have?"

Or is there a simplier way to increase my sword damage....

    Thanks

If all you want is a better sword or piece of armor you can trade for it in MP, do particular quests known to drop good or rare items (e.g. Boneslicer in Undead Legion quest) or mod the item using rings, runes or amulets as well as the damage items for weapons (lava rock, poison fang, magic pearl, ice crystal). You can also build a shopper character to obtain better items from merchants and pass them on to your primary character through the "shared" inventory of the hero stash chests. If you want to create your own special and unique sword/armor then modding is the only route to go.
