  1. Well, I was born in Germany and lived there until I was 4 but I ate mostly Slavic food growing up. Did acquire a taste for the occasional bratwurst and other "wursts" as well as sourbraten but all these other food names are new to me. In TX BBQ, Mexican food and steak are the big food items but here in Austin we have a lot of different ethnic restaurants so it's fun to try foods from other cultures. We even have our own Oktober Fest in New Braunfels (originally a German settlement) down the road. Getting close to supper time and this is getting me hungry so bye for now.

  2. Um.. Maybe I didn't quite explain things quite clearly... I still have the US version installed. I am seriously considering buying the downloadable Gold version. For the moment, I'm still playing in single player mode. I think it'd be quite rude to have to hold up a party because I'm doing some sightseeing, picture taking and wiki editing... The Pause button doesn't seem to work in Multiplayer mode.

Oh.. And for what it's worth, I was able to recover from this bleeping PITA problem by using Previous Versions. I was able to recover a file from the day before's restore point. Unfortunately, I lost a boatload of experience points, one rather nice axe with lifeleech and a few dozen completed quests. I also tried all of the tricks you mentioned, with the addition of the Sacred 2 Temp File Cleaner someone in another post recommended. No joy restarting, deleting, etc...

Ah well. I think I know where I screwed up. I didn't hit F9 to manually save the game. I merely clicked Save and Exit right after teleporting back to a resurrection monollith (which should have saved the game properly). It didn't. Hopefully, I'll be able to make it out of Artamark which should settle things down a bit. My previous High Elf game was fine after I got out of Artamark. Go figure.

Well I'm glad you were able to recover despite the lost points and items.

I have noticed that if you quickly click exit and save just after the game does a teleport or changes to a new screen (e.g. after exiting a cave) the game will freeze and often times the progress you made since the previous automatic save will get lost. I've taken to counting to 5 before hitting escape to exit after a teleport to give the cache time to write to disk after the auto save.

Yeah, the manual states that pause is available only in SP and not MP. In the old days hitting the pause button on the keyboard would stop the computer in its tracks until you hit the pause button again so that gave you time to get screen shots or pause games that didn't have a pause command. Not so anymore. Most games now disable several of the keys including the pause key when they load.

As I said before, your US saved games will work with the Gold version if you decide to get it. You won't have to start from scratch building characters.

  3. My frustrations are mounting... :(

I seem to have a problem with my level 62 Seraphim... The game just boots me out to Windows when I try to load it. Now, I had NO problem what so ever loading the game, playing it for several hours last night. I seem to have gone through this with at least 7 characters so far. Bloody annoying.

Now, I've heard that there was a patch for Ice and Blood that was supposed to make it more friendly to Windows 7.

So what I want to know - is an upgrade to Ice and Blood going to mean scrapping all of my save games? For that matter, would the EU version of Fallen Angel even load save games created by the US version?

Sorry to hear your tale of woe. Your US saved games should load with the Gold or Ice & Blood versions without problems. When you deleted the US version did you check that all traces except the saved games were gone? The game puts bits and pieces in several directories on the drive and a previous file may be glitching you.

Originally I had the US version of Fallen Angel and got my seraphim and SW up to level 35 before deciding to get the European Gold version so that I could play Ice & Blood. I deleted the US version after backing up my saved games and then loaded the Gold version. Reloaded my saved games and so far have not had any problems loading or playing them. I also started several characters in Gold so my original toons are at level 48 & 50 so far. I have not patched the game and it is "as it was" out of the box. I did experience a weird glitch the other night though with a seraphim I started in Ice and Blood. Every time I got near the monolith in Clearview the screen would go black and the game would stop responding with a message about not being able to find the client server. I finally had to reboot my computer to clear the glitch! Could be hiccups on the European servers? I have noticed that every once in a while the game would freeze while loading before the character selection screen as if it can't find a server at the other end of the line and I would have to use task manager to shut it down then restart it.

  4. I wonder, are there any people playing non-glitch staff builds?

When I first read about shooting staffs in Ice and Blood, I was hoping to finally build a "proper" staff-wielding mage. When it became obvious that staff projectiles count as weapon attacks and thus aren't really suited for spellcasters, I started planning a melee dryad (or inquisitor, they get high natural INT) with limited ranged ability. Could be fun. So, I made my first dryad, modded her multihit CA, crossed the Sloeford bridge, fired the CA... and pulverized everything in two screens radius. Whoa! :(

Now, I know it's a well-known bug, and that some people eagerly take advantage of it for super fast leveling, but it just doesn't seem fun to me. However, it seems this bug made staff lore useless once again - casters don't really benefit from this skill (not unless they also take tactics and something like speed lore to get a decent chance to hit stuff - hefty investment for a left click ranged attack), and fighters get the "multihit glitch". Kind of sad, really.

So, anyone here played a staff build not relying on the famous glitch?

Hmmmm, I have not experienced this staff glitch as yet and I am running both a staff HE and staff DM. Both are level 42 now in SP but neither hits anything more distant than the edge of the screen with their ranged staff attack. Is it a glitch on the MP servers or has anyone in SP experienced this glitch?

  5. anytime I eat a rune it wont go past level 2 I am currently level 10 on silver

    am I over looking something?

When you press "E" and check your CAs do they have a green circle around the level number? If they do, you are getting penalty hits for not having sufficient focus points for that aspect and it would take quite a few runes before the level would show up as 3. Also are you "eating" the runes by right clicking on them or accidentally holding CTRL and left clicking? Have you tried socketing the runes to see if the level changes?

  6. Hi, I have a question about this quest.... I have just played Sacred2 for the first time (SP only) and have handed in the map but there is no boat when I go down to the waterfront.

Is this a bug (there seem to be quite a few so far), or have I done something wrong? Can somebody help me here pls, it would be appreciated :) .

After you get to the waterfront do you find and talk to the captain that is walking around? He is on the northwest side of the buildings with a ship's wheel icon over his head. It is the captain, not the boat, that teleports you at any seaport in Ancaria. Also, make certain your map is not zoomed all the way in or you won't see the mount island after talking to the captain.

  7. I'll just warn you now... there are at least a few graves not in graveyards. IIRC, there's one inside the walls of Fortress Reikenstein in the human area.

There is a grave at the lower Old Naval Port in the SW section; another north of the brigand camp in the "Leader of the the Pack" quest that is part of the ghost quest; still another on a small hill north of the monolith below the Noriath temple. There are also several individual graves with unreadable gravestones scaterred about the land such as the one on Jail Island. Also don't forget the graves in various caves such as the ones in the "Insuring the Insurance" quest southeast of Thylisium and the "Orpheus" quest. There are a lot more graves in Sacred 2 compared to Sacred so you are taking on a monumental (no pun intended) task. Good hunting!

  8. Have a look at this post rnarchlord: http://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?sh...t&p=6899214

Thanks, Malachor; it's exactly what I needed. I tried using English to German translator but "grim resilience" came up as "grim Widerstandsfähigkeit" which was nowhere in the Spells.txt file. BTW, "willensstaerke" gets translated as "willed" which is a lot different than resilience! Guess the devs kinda encrypted the spell names to cut down on others editing them easily? Again, thanks.

Well, I tried it but I don't get any buff animation using willensstaerke with my Dryad even after changing the line to "FX_DR_WILLENSSTAERKE". Is there another line that needs to be changed as well to get the right animation (neon pink cloud at feet)?

    OK, final edit!

I had to change the line to "FX_SK_WILLENSTAERKE" but now she has a pink aura!

  9. Although I was born in Germany I don't speak German so I need help finding the "fxTypeSpell" listing for Grim Resilience in Spells.txt please! I prefer it to the animation for Ancient Bark (ugh! so ugly!) and want to substitute it using Czevak's suggested method. I think my Dryad would look neat with a pink ring around her feet and would be easy to see in any terrain. I tried Broken Day's change to the Goldenglade Touch animation a bit noisy with that constant whoosh going on and GR has no sound associated with it. Thanks ahead of time. BTW, is this one of the changes proposed for the next patch?

  10. Why can't I use the Import/Export function in Sacred (not Underworld or Gold) to build up my character? I've tried doing it, but it seems to mess up my quests when I try. I've got a level 31 Battle Mage and it won't let me complete some of the quests now.

Once you export a character then import it again you reset the game quests back to the beginning. If you are doing quests that require other quests to be done first then, when you import, the quests already done are reset to not done and have to be redone before you can continue the quest thread. This is particularly true of the main quest but also many of the chained side quests.

  11. I have a question about RPH, it works on my seraphim and dryad with weapon based Combat Arts etc. But on my High Elf I can't see no effect with RPH on my spells, is it supposed to be weapon based Combat Arts only or? I was hoping 'regeneration 1 second per hit' would allow me to spam incendiary shower...but that doesn't seem to be the case :( if so I guess I will drop this and start a ranged dryad.

Edit: I'm on console also :)

As the name implies the benefit is per hit, not per spell. A weapon has to actually hit in order to activate the Rph which means if your chance to hit is low your benefit from Rph will also be activated infrequently.

  12. If you are dual wielding then you won't even get the +attack, higher level without penalty, or attack speed from the sword weapon mod. That will all be based on how many points are in Dual Wield. The only reason to get Sword Weapons would be to unlock the sword weapon mods that are on certain swords.

LLama correct me if I'm wrong here (lol) but if you have only Dual Wield and you eqiup a single sword, you will be penalized based on the sword's level, but if you equip a second weapon of any kind, you will then be dual wielding and you can then equip higher level weapons based on the points in Dual Wield? I'm pretty sure that's how it works...

With the Inquisitor, since he cannot use shields, it is a natural to use Dual Wield. However you first have to unlock it by putting five skill points into one of the weapon skills first. I think you can get around that restriction with other characters by getting Tactics Lore first. Anyway, I find that dual wielding a weapon with fire socketed and a weapon with ice socketed gives lots of damage without having to switch weapons based on opponent. I think adding damage lore will also increase the amount of damage done.

  13. Ummm... That's a fun question, but very tough one, really.

Temple Guardian - well, since he's on a mission and he's mechanical, he will either be blurting out a river of new information or he will shut himself down in the corner of the room. No go.

The temple guardian reminds me more of Eeyore than anything else with his droll commentary and world weary tone. Someone should take him out for some fun just out of pity!

  14. Dryads!

She's smart, sassy and does kick BLEEP damage.

    Would be an exciting day.

Sirius, your topic actually made me think about another question ...the ancillary of yours... What are the different class's character profiles as from their voice dialogues?

    :)

    gogo

Nice answer but it was me, not Sirius, who posted the question/topic. But then I know that one can get confused by the similarity in wit and vocabulary! Just as an aside, where would you hang out with your character, coffee shop, sports field, hunting club, etc?

  15. It takes a little while but he can be killed using fire as well. My HE used incendiary shower with ancestral fireball and drank concentration potions to regenerate CAs quickly between casts. I found it advantageous to first kill all the Kobolds in the area of the chieftain as they gang up on you while you are busy boss killing.

  16. Let's go swimming

    Let's go swimming

Scotty jumps into the (t-energy) pool... (Niob difficulty with 0 magic armour)

    Conclusion:

Using a recovery elixir will stop the current DoT, but expires when that DoT stops affecting you. Using a potion before the DoT is inflicted has NO EFFECT, essentially the potion is wasted.

Wow. I knew these potions were near-useless, but not this bad. Probably the most-useless potion in Sacred 2... well aside from Roast Joint Trophies, which I never saw any effect from, ever (3 or 4 toons with Alchemy).

I would like to see this test done on Ice and Blood / Community Patch versions!

Thanks Scotty; you confirmed my and probably others suspicion that the recovery potion only works once you are "damaged". Since I usually have good poison armor my toons rarely suffer more than a few hitpoints before the effects of the poison wear off.

  17. Actually it is impossible to buy a horse at level 1 since you have to get to a horse trader first. That means several fights along the way and near the trader which will increase your level past 1 as the experience needed to get to level 2 is so low.

That's assuming you kill anything on the way & that you're not in some form of MP & can't get a lift from a friend...

Okay Llama8 I got a question for you. I have not played MP as yet so I don't know the answer to this:

In MP does the person who teleports to mount isle to join another player after that player gets through the three test battles and gets his mount also have to go through the three battles? Or does the priest sell mounts to everybody in the party after only one of them gets tested? If the first scenario is correct then the joiner will increase his level from 1 by the end of the test if he doesn't get killed first.

Candesco, I do not ride any horse I buy until after the main quest takes me to Dragonmaw pass. After riding and getting to mount isle I use my unique mount to cover all the territory I rode through earlier and get the battles, quests and experience. So I don't really lose any experience or fun in the long run.

  18. So now other character gains innate bonuses for any other weapon choice?

Classes don't get innate bonuses to weapons per se, just whether they can use them or not & whether they can pick the relevant weapon lore.

I noticed the inquisitor can not use bows, for example, so he must be offset somehow?

Nope & he can't use shields either (nor can the TG, but he only has one arm)...

Ah but the Inquisitor makes a great dual wield hafted weapon toon! Even at level 30 my Inquisitor is doing 358 HP damage with his weapons without any lore! He'll be getting weapon and damage lore soon.

  19. Or is it not worth the hassle and just sell it and forget it?

If it only works after you have been 'infected' it is virtually useless since by the time I have finished killing what ever infected me (so it doesn't kill me while I am looking for treatment) and reached for the potion, the infection has already run its course!

I tend to agree with you podgie. It does seem to "instantly" remove the effects of poison at low character levels while fighting but most of the time my toon gets over being poisoned two steps after killing whatever poisoned it. I don't know how well it works at high levels as none of my toons have hit level 100 yet. (I'm running 7 of them.) Any body out there willing to do as FrostElfGuard suggests to test out how this works. Will quaffing a potion first prevent damage or will it only heal once the damage is done? I won't be near any T-energy pools for a while in SP campaign mode.

  20. Personally I would find that kind of bloom highly distracting and annoying. It is difficult enough to see the colors swirls produced when drinking potions if certain buffs are active: e.g. drinking a mentor potion with T-energy shroud active. That type of bloom would make it almost impossible to see when your potion has worn off and you need to take another one. Sure, it is pretty eye candy but does it really help or improve the gameplay?

  21. What is an Art house film?

Art house films are small films that appeal to a limited audience and are not intended for the mass audience. They are generally shown in small local theaters instead of the large metroplexes. A lot of the films are independently produced and not produced by the major studios (Fox, Paramount, etc.). An example of an art film is "Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky". They are not heavily advertised and hyped like the major studios' films.

  22. So....LMB is target lock, and RMB is casting the spell/combat art. Holding down LMB keeps the targeting refreshed so that when you can activate the combat art it has a fairly good chance of making the target?

    Good to know!

that's is a fair assessment. We can test and verify

That's the technique I use with Incendiary Shower as well. A firm hold on the target area with the left button and a firm hold on the right with the CA active. Then I shorten the regen time with an occasional concentration potion.
