  1. I started a new character 6 times before I got a gold drop on the start island.

    I'm playing on PC (HC multiplayer) with very limited resources... so not buckets of find special item.

    To date the character has only found one set item (a quest reward), but the char is still low level.

    One thing I would like to add as a wrinkle to the discussion... is that I 'found' {in S1} when players entered a server I believe everybody's magic find seed was reset. And... reset to a good number. So: I would suggest when you enter a server---get to a boss RIGHT AWAY --{of course with courteous hellos and can I take the Griffin {or whatever boss is your flavour of the month}}.

  2. I started having trouble sleeping a while back.

    So. I used the mayoclinic site to see what the doctors of the USA had to say.

    They were recommending a wind-down of about an hour. Eating a banana (has chemicals that help you sleep), drinking a glass of milk (has different chemicals that make you sleep), eating a slice of bread (has different chemicals that help you sleep) {they recommend one of the foods... not all of them!}, brushing your teeth...

    They suggest you do nothing exciting (such as avoiding playing Sacred2) in your wind-down.

    Further: they suggest afternoon aerobic exercise {I believe this will pump your fat system and move toxins to the exits}.

    They suggest to avoid reading some book that really excites you... they frown on reading in bed. They frown on tv in bed too.

    Oh--and lying down is always a plus. :)

    So. Pretty much a lot of what has been said here already.

    Sleeping pills could work for you (they are prescription in Canada)... but you're not supposed to rely on them. Your supposed to develop the good habits on your own.

  3. Now...how I wish I just had a facebook...unfortunately, we can't see the site unless we have an account. Is there anyway for guests to view?

    :)

    gogo

    Coming from an admin from Dark Matters... this just made me smile.

    I often will forget to login... and then 'View New Posts' and get the... you really should create an account and login to view our content message. :4rofl:

  4. Thank you for posting this. I was blindly assuming that Destroyers did fire damage. Doh! Explosions... fire... you get my idea.

    The Destroyers are still very strong summons, so I didn't gibble my DM up too badly. Thanks to you, he'll (and his brothers) will be so much stronger in the future.

    Physical damage it is!

  5. Hi thank you again

    I am now fighting Nimonuil

    Is there anything I could type to alter or weaken him?

    Also,Is it possible to weaken him but still be able to get the treasure when you defeat him?

    What would I do to make that happen?

    Frost's idea in post 12 may be the best idea.

    Well at the present I changed those lines a long while back

    They read

    Enemy_armor = {0,0,0,0,0},

    Enemy_weapondamage = {0,0,0,0,0},

    Enemy_spelldamage = {0,0,0,0,0}

    So one would think the monster would be a cinch

    Yet it continues to be impossible for me

    Flipping all the numbers to 0 might cause divide by 0 math errors. When these errors occur you might end up doing 0 damage to them yourself.

    Set them to 1 and see what happens.

  6. Now I get something. In Sacred2 Fallen Angel (pre-expansion) there is no RpH --Regeneration per Hit. Thus, Podgie can't speed up regeneration of his combat arts with the mixed spells first then melee attacks (or spell attacks that are sort of considered melee {Spectral Hand}).

    Got it.

    Level 151 already! Wow! My SW is about level 50. Kudos for you ability to run the wasteland. I suffer from distraction [A.D.D.? :blush: ] and move from character to character.

  7. Geisterfahrer !

    4 yesterday, 3 today, and everytime the radio program is interupted and a message boradcasted which translates to:

    "Attention all drivers on the A xx, there's a car heading in the wrong direction, please stay on the right-hand lane and do not overtake"

    Think it are mainly people driving to vacances and which are not used to autobahns. Geisterfahrer would translate as ghost driver. You are warned about them all the time, but you never see them. And when you see them you are luckily if you are not transformed into a ghost. Don't know who invented the word Geisterfahrer, but it fits.

    Is there an english name for them? dict.leo.org says:

    motorist driving against the traffic on motorways der Geisterfahrer

    I believe the English name for them is Darwins. That is: People who are so stupid we don't want them to breed.

    I saw a Geisterfahrer when I was in China. It was near the Great Wall. The Chinese built a super highway to the restored section of the wall (most is in ruins--harvested for rock to make houses from). It's divided, multi-lane.

    When you leave the Great Wall, it is not immediately obvious which way you should go... and so sometimes people choose the wrong road. The divided highway splits around a mountain and people might get confused...

    Anyway, whoever this was was driving at full highway speed down the wrong way... what is scary is that there is a tunnel soon after that point...so... no where to go if people aren't in the right hand lane to begin with.

    Yipes!

  8. I'm very excited by the possibility of a lucky number character that has a higher than normal chance of getting great drops at the outset of starting a new server.

    My pet theory of drops follows the same pattern I think I've observed in shopping. It's simple really, a modified SIN wave. The SIN wave gives the base chance, and then a random number is used to move the value up 0 to 1. I imagine this to be used to give you a drop/shop tier to choose the drop from. If you start a character near the top, it is far easier for your drop to be in the rare category. That position in the SIN wave is kept with the character and advanced based on lifetime of the character.

    That would explain why I get drops in clusters... where uniques drop near each other... then with large gaps of no-such-luck. (I mostly fight trash mobs as most of my characters are starters.)

    My new Shadow Warrior had no luck on the start island (I was shocked to discover he got 0 drops on the start island)... and has had rather bad luck dropping sets from either the Griffen or the Boar. (The previous SW had 1 rare drop from the magic hiding spot on start island... and much better drops overall by level 50)

    Despite the same test set---I think you're on to something here!

    Way to go Furian!

  9. I've never been able to figure out their health.

    I mod them for extra armor, sharp blade and shields. So, they are fairly robust.

    I find the skellies die once or twice in boss fights. You can recast (but if you've used a buff suit you won't want to) or just wait. They'll get back up again soon enough.

    If you build a buff suit (socketable armor filled with NA runes) and update it (gold runes give +4 each, Plat give +6 IIRC), put on the buff suit, cast NA, take off the buff suit... then the NA's level will be very high. Higher level at cast time = lots of hit points. Taking off the buff suit brings the regen penalty from the buff back down to level 1 (assuming your read only 1 rune into NA).

    Cheers

  10. Re: Little risk.

    I recently lost my cloaked Shadow Warrior to the Octagolamus. He was 'bravely' striking the nasty beast in the back... while his 'trusty' skellie friends (Nether Allegiance) were bravely hacking at it's front. GandalfGreyhaim's brave attack was Spectral Hand... an attack that has 0% chance of uncloaking him... However, he decided to cast a Skeletal Fortress.

    Zap! His NA friends were teleported to him (one on each side). Ba-da-bing the Octagolamus turned around and squirted a magic attack at the skellies... and wham! The Shadow Warrior was dead. He had had poison relics active. He hadn't expected the Octagolamus to turn around... and so he died a very quick death at character level 54 in Gold.

    If you plan on surviving, never fight an opponent that has an Area of Effect while NA is active. Their teleport to your side will get you killed. Their presence too close to you, which occurs during rearrangement of any flying dragon attack, can also get you killed.

    Leave the boys at home is my advice! :evil:

  11. Darkmatters clan members helped boost my level 2 HE to Niob.

    In Niob a level 2 shopper can find rings that boost damage 19.4% (at max) for a single element.

    Socket a few of these level 2 (yet Niob) rings in low level equipment, and watch you damage numbers soar! (at roughly 4x the normal rate).

  12. O.k. I tried it and it made a big difference in the monsters HP. I am not sure if it still casts as strong a spells or not but here is the comparison

    sac3fa-20100729-013139.pngsac3fa-20100729-013132.png

    Weird. All of his stats dropped, but his armor went up? :evil:

    k. Wow. I now understand what people are talking about when they say they can look at the last 10 opponents defeated. Just click the arrow. Doh!

    ---on topic. You can

    1) copy the balance.txt file,

    2) edit the balance.txt to tamp down the damage dealt by all opponents,

    3) defeat the Facetelleon,

    4) put the balance.txt back in place for normal game balance.

    the lines to change are:

    Enemy_weapondamage = {650,850,1000,3000,3300},

    Enemy_spelldamage = {500,800,1000,4000,4400},

    I suggest you put this:

    Enemy_weapondamage = {65,85,100,300,330},

    Enemy_spelldamage = {50,80,100,400,440},

    10% of normal damage should make Facetelleon a walk through the park.

  13. Ohhhhhhh I feel your pain!

    I would offer to email you some of my character files... but it just wouldn't be the same would it?

    On the brigh... is there a bright side:)! At least you have experience under your belt and the rebuilds will be more efficient? A crumb. But still a crumb.

    Thank you for sharing your cautionary tale. I'm going to backup my characters tonight.

  14. Well, here's a shout out to Schot! He turned me onto 'The White Griffen' and 'The Wild Boar' quests. Hit up a mini-boss and have a good chance at a set item as a drop, plus tons of xp. And quick! Holos the Minotaur (from desert portal) is also pretty quick. More xp, more filling!

  15. 100s of hours. There is so much to this game, so many different builds... so many places to see.

    There is something new (geography, quest) each time...

    And... now I've activated my second EU account (SingeElfGuard was my first account, poisonelfguard is my second). More hours to build up a pool of items/resources. These of course, are on the PC.

    I do have an xbox, and have yet to create my viperous disease dryad. But she's coming one day!

  16. As a visitor to Montreal, who mostly speaks English (but was trying to speak French when there)... I found Montreal to be a very welcoming and warm city.

    I found myself in a different world. Montreal is Europe-light. That is, it is a European city inside North America. This means: a non-English language is prevalent, food in restaurants is exquisite (and expensive), the buildings are old (by North American standards). There is public transport (a subway, ---which only a handful of Canadian cities have {Toronto, Vancouver(?), Montreal).

    I don't consider myself fat, but... in Montreal... I was fat! That is: as a European city in Canada, the customs are different. Different lifestyles (lots of people don't have cars--so walking is more common), (smaller portion sizes), (different approach to leisure time (more active))--all add up. Sure there's McDonalds (and all his cousins)--but a lot less than most N.A. cities (like 5%).

    Friends tried to convince me to move there... but I balked when I heard that rent was $900 for a shared student type apartment (rent only)! That's $500 more a month than I pay--and I have everything included (heat, phone, water, electricity, high speed internet, laundry).

    My friends there had bought their own condo, sold their car, and both had high salaries (one is a professor at one of the universities there). Double income, no children. And a taste for the high life (like $50 vegetarian suppers). We ate out everyday, and each day there was a different vegetarian restaurant... which gives you an idea of how varied the food is there... that there were that many high-end vegetarian restaurants--which implies lots of 'regular' restaurants too...

    Wow. Montreal. A little piece of heaven, but just a bit too expensive for me!
