  1. I am truly happy this worked out the way it did. I would of course have deferred to podgie_bear as I already own the base game on disk and it wouldn't hurt me that much to get the DLCs. Now, thanks to the kindness of our forum "Brothers" I don't have to be concerned.

The code has been used now, thank you very much Flix! :)

  2. I still have a copy of Sacred Plus+ which I ordered from the UK. I haven't had it installed for years, so can't help you there.

What I can suggest is springing for a little bit of cash for a whole lot of relief.GoG offers Sacred Gold at huge discounts if you watch them close enough. Right now it's $9.99 USD but I've seen it for less than $3.

In fact, we have a topic in here somewhere that periodically gets bumped when the GoG prices drop or Sacred 2 goes on sale somewhere else. ;)

The last price discount was $7.48 for both Sacred Gold and Sacred 2 Gold.

  3. ... When I feel (really) nostalgic, I still play D2LoD. ...

I was working as a Customer Service Rep in Circuit City when I was at the height of my Diablo craze. I created my own level that had almost the same floor plan as the store I was working in. I brought it in on a 3½" floppy and put it on one of the Demo computers. The store manager finally had to forbid any of the sales people from going near the computer because they became so engrossed in the game they ignored the customers ... and their possible commissions!

  4. Sounds like you need to do a good cleaning of the harddisk involved followed by low level and then standard format before reinstalling Windows. The harddisk may have developed a bad spot.

The safest way to do it would be to install a known good boot disk as the primary boot device so you can save off any required information from the original drive before blasting its contents away.

Of course, if this is a new build, there shouldn't be anything on the boot drive ...

I'm surprised though. Usually I can get into BIOS even if the harddrive is unbootable. You don't think the BIOS may be at fault do you?

  5. Most libraries have free Internet access and, as long as you are careful about passwords, you should be able to order a copy there.

Periodically various members in here find it on sale and post about it. The one place that seems to have it available most often is Gog. We even have a dedicated topic about the "Gog sales". ;)

I just checked and Sacred 2 Gold is still listed at $14.99. Not a bad price but not near as good as the 80% off they sell it for sometimes! :(

  6. I remember that movie, it was called The Final Countdown. When I go to a movie, it's to help me escape reality, so I have a tendency to suspend judgement. For that reason, I very rarely watch anything that could supposedly be about "current affairs" or even the near future. I prefer Sci-Fi, fantasy, even cartoons over things that will not allow me to easily suspend my reality system.

On the other hand, I hope terrorists watch lots of those sorts of movies and either think they can do the same thing and get way overconfident or think we actually can and get scared off.

  7. Ah guys im really sorry it was my fault.Im on HD 7870 GPU but ! I needed to download physx and that solved my problem.Anyways thanks for being that active and trying to help ! I think I will stick with this forum since I started playing Sacred ! :)

Can't find a better place to go for Sacred and Sacred 2 help. :) Welcome aboard!

While I'm in here, I've had some problems with the screensaver option not working. My computer will sit overnight or longer without the screensaver or the power options kicking in. Anyone have any suggestions for that?

  8. I'm currently listening to the sounds of silence. No, not the Simon and Garfunkel song but actual silence!

We had a homeless man living in our basement apartment for the past 2.5 years. He said he would trade us rent for home maintenance. We finally evicted him and it is so lovely not to have to listen to his radio going at all times of the day and night because he needs "noise".

Before I get jumped on for being heartless, he had a series of vehicles while he was here one of which, a little red sports car, he paid off while living here. Before he left, he also had a short school bus he had tricked up as a mobile carpentry shop. It was really annoying to see it parked out front, blocking half the road. He slowly "expanded" his presence while he was here which is really what cause us to want to get rid of him. He had bits and pieces salvaged from various jobs he had performed for others lying around our back yard. He had all but taken over my garage for his own storage after I foolishly gave him the key so he could use some of the wood I had stored there for a project for us. He had a bicycle, which he never rode, locked to the railing of our side entrance along with additional bits and pieces stacked on the porch steps ... all visible from the front road!

When he did do a job for us, his work was slipshod and he never completely cleaned up after himself. The painted our upstairs ceiling and there are rough spots on our stair railing still from where he gripped the railing with paint covered hands while traversing the stairs. There were paint smears on the walls, our window air conditioner, and our small portable electronic organ. A light switch plate has a line of paint dribbled on it and allowed to harden.

Sorry, I could go on and on but you don't want to hear my problems ... or lack of them now. I just wish I had evicted him years ago! Never again. IF we decide to rent out our basement apartment again, we will require two months rent as a deposit to cover any necessary repairs when the tenant leaves as well as requiring monthly or even weekly on-site inspections of the premises to ensure our home isn't being slowly destroyed from within. I spent almost $1000 one the back outside entrance alone because the original steel clad door had been damaged so bad it had to be replaced. Evidently he tried to break in because he had locked himself out. The whole frame had to be replaced!

Sorry, I'll quit now. This probably needs to be moved or removed. The topic title just seemed to trigger something ...

  9. ...

Be careful where you aim that Email EMP... The computer you aim it at may be your own. Taking over computers for the purpose of spam delivery IS a popular activity for the various d-bags out there.

Yeah, I know. That's why I spend so much of my valuable time running anti-virus scans and anti-malware scans from multiple programs when I should be playing computer games!
  10. LOL I think you misunderstood...

    Actually, I understood perfectly.

I never try to do anything that will allow Spammers an extra place to spread their filth. That includes dummy emails addresses that are only there to collect spam. Having some place they can send things to just gives them encouragement. :(

What I want to do is send a return email EMP that melts their computer.
