  1. You can get most pre-3.0 add-ons to work in 3.0 by editing Firefox's config ...

Thanks but I think I will leave it as is. I don't need or use half the add-ons I've installed. I can wait until they are properly updated.

  2. Its different when you dont have kids to think of and provide for....

Agreed, or a mortgage to meet, etc. I used to work as a Senir Systems Analyst at the DOE in Washington, DC. After 3 years of 80+ hours weeks, I got a little burned out and quit the computer field entirely.

Three years later I was recovered enough to start "working" in my field again but if it ever came to working anywhere, doing anything or missing house payments and risk losing my house, I would work in McDonald's if I had to. The 3 years that I was out of the Computer field, I worked as a Customer Service Representative at Circuit City. All I wanted was a mindless job that paid the bills and didn't involve creative work with computers and that filled the bill nicely.

I now work as a lower level Computer consultant as my own boss and charge $75/hour for consulting ... when I work.

  3. ... we (parents, brother, me) are going to Croatia. ...

My wife and I went there November 2005 and enjoyed it. Though there were still many bombed out areas, the people did their best to make us feel comfortable and welcome.

I created a Photo Album CD of our trip there and put part of it up so the other tour members could see what it was going to be like. There's only about 35MB out of almost 4GB of data, text, graphics, and pictures I published on the DVD but it gives an idea how it was laid out.

Take lots of pictures, perhaps you can do something similar.

  4. I have it and enjoyed it but not as much as Sacred, Sacred Plus, and Sacred Underworld.

The only reason a shop would not take a software package back is if it has been opened. As long as the package is still sealed, they are required to take it back, just as for any other product.

  5. well if it say 3.0 you have installed the RC1 or a earlier beta ...

I beg to differ with your opinion. I have been working with the Firefox Beta program and my last update was v3 Beta 5. Recently they updated to what I thought was a full release. I may be wrong but why would they go backwards?

    [Added]

Hmm, it seems that the current v3 sneak peek page only offers v3rc1 now.

  6. The only thing that concerns me is:

The deal would create an international regulator that could turn border guards and other public security personnel into copyright police. The security officials would be charged with checking laptops, iPods and even cellular phones for content that "infringes" on copyright laws, such as ripped CDs and movies.

The guards would also be responsible for determining what is infringing content and what is not.

Most border guards and airport security guards are already idiots about most things, this would just make them worse. If I own a CD or DVD and have copied it to my computer because I want to watch it without having the media with me I shouldn't have to worry about some idiot border guard thinking I've stolen it.

  7. Firefox 3 is postponed a bit :P:) after some security and stability issues in RC1 they decided to make a RC2 and its expected sometime after June 5

on a side note Firefox 3.1 will come this year as well :P (thats the rumor anyway)

Then why does the Help\About Mozilla Firefox on mine say, "version 3.0"?

  8. My host suffered a catastrophic loss early this morning and my website was restored from a backup from mid March! I had just added a lot of content all over the place in preparation for the start of my next classes and I added an entire new forum for my Sacred 2 website ... it's all gone. :woot:

They say everything will get sorted out but I have a feeling that I'm still going to have to restore a lot of information.

I'm glad I keep a working copy of my site on my local system. I just wish I had a more recent database backup for all the fora I have set up. :woot:

Anyone who joined the new forum may have to rejoin if you're still interested. I will post here when everything has been restored.

  9. Congratulations! Just remember that this new life that you have brought into your family is totally dependent upon you fo everything; food, water, love, and loving training. (S)he is just a baby and needs a firm, compassionate hand to teach what needs to be taught. In exchange for that you will receive unconditional love.

I think it a fair exchange. Don't forget, there is also a downside. You will most likely outlive your new family member by many years. When I lost my first dog I was so heart-broken I wasn't able to have another for almost 40 years! When out second (a more mature dog whose owner couldn't take him with them when they got rotation orders) died, we ended up with 2 cats instead. One of those has died of old age and various other complaints and the other is getting on in age as well. I have a feeling it won't be long before we are again an "empty nest" with just my wife and myself and no one else.

Your new dog will become a close intimate part of your family if you allow it or not. When it does, it can be one of the most rewarding and enriching experiences you will ever undergo.

I wish you, your family, and your newest family member the very best. thumbsup.gif

  10. ... I was taught that it's two...but now peeps are saying that it's one. ...

I was also taught 2 spaces but that has now changed due to common usage and HTML. HTML will remove not only extra spaces between words but line feeds, tabs, everything and display the text a words separated by a single space. Because of that, it doesn't do any good to put more than one, so why bother?

Sorry if someone has already posted this answer but I'm in a hurry to leave for an appointment with my daughter and didn't take the time to read everything.

  11. ... I had to watch outside media like CNN to get any news about a big disaster on a country that directly bordered China. ...

    Did you see this then?

I think she went above and beyond the line of duty and then was embarrassed when others made a big deal out of it. Heroes and Heroines) come in all shapes, sizes, and nationalities.

  12. ...
... I didn't even have to do one for my Masters ...

Seriously:) How can you do a Masters without a thesis? ...

I found out that John's Hopkins University was offering some computer courses I was interested in taking. By the time I ran out of courses I wanted to take (hardware and software @~ USD 1100 each), I had taken 7 classes. I was ready to quit but my wife told me that if I didn't take the last 3 classes required to get my Masters she would kill me!

I ended up taking 4 more but no one said anything about a thesis and I got my diploma, so I guess it's possible.

BTW, the reason I took 4 extras is because I signed up for one course only to find out that it was almost exactly like one I was teaching at the time. I ended up teaching one of the classes because I made the mistake of telling the instructor there was an easier way to design conversions from one logic gate memory circuit to any other. For some reason, he never asked me to teach any other classes ... but he didn't re-teach the one I had taught either. :)

  13. Ahh yeah Spock and tomi notified me about that as well.

    ...

4th try: uploaded it to MSN SkyDrive, would like some feedback on whether it works or not

Ok, I managed to get a copy without otherwise compromising my system (other than the fact I had to connect to a Micro$haft site).

It's interesting you should have to do a Thesis for your Bachelors, I didn't even have to do one for my Masters ... or is this for a Masters Thesis?

  14. ... my wife is pregnant with our second child ...

Just a word to the wise, which you should already know since this is your second, stock up on crakers and other small, bland finger food.

Give my best wishes to your wife for having to do all the real work and my hopes that she has an uncomplicated pregnancy and as painless a childbirth as possible.

To you I highly recommend you go, as a couple, to Lamaze classes so you can be with her and help during delivery. If you've never done it before, it will open you up to a whole new world and your wife will have all that much more to love you for.

Best of luck to you both!
