Purpose of Mounts?

I picked up my first horse last night and was.... underwhelmed. What exactly is the purpose of having a mount? I had thought it would greatly increase my running speed, but that doesn't seem to be the case. And since I can't use buffs while mounted, I'd rather just fight on my own two feet.

 

Still new to the game, so I'm sure I'm overlooking something. Thanks!

Your class"Epic Mount" done by a series of quest lets you fight mounted , also runs faster while having stats.

I only got a horse once then never again for the reasons you highlighted.

 

You need your unique mount that you get from a quest.

Pff do not listen to . those horse haters. You can kill without ca or buff.

Ofcource with the right skills , but never the less - even a TG can do it.
