Help Needed To Create A New Inquisiter Character

Hi there,

Last night I managed to complete the Light campaign with my Shadow Warrior and now I'm looking for something different for Shadow Campaign.

I have been looking at the skills the Inquisiter has on sacredwiki and would really appreciate some advice on what the Inquisiter specialises in.

Would it be fair to say that Callous Execution is the equivalent of Shadow Warrior's Demonic Blow? I'm looking for a mainly melee Inquisiter but with something a bit different. Which is the best in the long term out of Levin Array and Zelous Doppleganger? Could I theoretically use and master both of them throughout the game? What skills should I choose to help me master them apart from the focus one obviously. Both Inexorable Subjugation and Soul Reaver look too good to miss. Could I use both and master them too?

What skills should I take to use melee mostly and a bit of magic to mix things up a bit? The one thing I realised with my Shadow Warrior is I wasted a couple of skills I never used (Blacksmithing and Combat Reflexes) and I want to take Inquisiter to Platinum if I can so I'm thinking longterm here rather than experimentation.

Thanks alot for reading anyway.

I really don't have alot of advice on which skills to pick but I have tried nearly every CA for the Inquisitor. Levin Array is my personal favorite as I can simply destroy hordes of enemies in one move. I couple this with Soul Reaver so all the guys I kill it boosts my stats like crazy. As for the Zelous Doppleganger...its not worth it. Just like sacredwiki says "Has low attack speed and sometimes makes poor choices in regards to skill usage" under cons, this is completely true. It really doesn't do anything but act like the stupid weak NPCs that you are sometimes stuck with on quests. Oh, and yeah I think Callous Execution is pretty much the same as the Shadow Warrior's demonic blow. A good melee CA for the Inquisitor is Ruthless Mutilation, which is almost like a melee version of Levin Array and very helpful when surrounded by enemies. Hope this helps, good luck!

Hey thank you very much for your reply, I really appreciate it! So the Doppleganger skill is no good? I suppose I was hoping for something like Nether Allegance because those skeleton warriors were actually very helpful start to mid game. Plus it can get very lonely killing everything in sight (I'm not online on 360 at the mo).

I shall use your advice and go for Levin Array and Soul Reaver and possibly Callous Execution and Ruthless Mutilation. I can always eat one rune for each to experiement can't I? Knuckles provided me with this excellent advice and I've got absolutely loads of runes from my Shadow Warrior campaign.

Is the Inquisiter good for magic and ranged combat as well? He sounds like a more all rounder rather than specialising in one specific field like the high elf and shadow warrior (magic and melee respectively). Would that be a fair assumption?

Thanks again RyanRocker

PS welcome to the site you'll find everyone is just as helpful as you have been. Best forum site I've been on in years.

Hmm, last night I was playing and I was fighting some lich king and it was just me vs. him so I decided to use Doppleganger because I decided to give it a second chance. It actually prove somewhat effective and defiantly helped killing him faster though I could have done it without the Doppleganger. So my opinion about this CA has changed a bit. I would say that it is good for one on one fights and is not very effective against a group of enemies larger than 2. Something like Nether Allegance? I forgot to mention in my other post that Inexorable Subjugation is pretty close to this CA for the SW. Only problem is that on lower levels the souls only stay around and fight for a little bit because they are on timers. On higher levels they should stay around long enough to be able to use them really effectively. I always like to experiment so yes my Inquisitor is more of a all rounder. Last night I also tried using T-energy sidearm which proved pretty nice for ranged. For me I pumped a lot of skill points into magic staffs because some of them can be really powerful with the enhancements. Lol I'm playing solo and local co-op too because no xbox live at my house. Thanks for the welcome!

The inquisitor's top melee CAs are Callous Execution and ruthless mutilation. I use Callous Execution as my main attack. Also, the magic of these two arts is that they work really well for melee OR ranged. Ruthless is especially great in ranged - your projectile will split and hit many enemies at once.

Astute supremacy has some great arts too - Levin array as previously mentioned, but also Clustering Maelstrom, but I only found it effective once I modded it. These two arts put in a combo button are awesome.

I'm currently playing a melee based inquisitor and am in platinum at level 58. I've only died once due to the fog of miasma bug (insta-killed me when I was in silver), and this is my 2nd Inquisitor.

The big problem that often comes up is killing bosses, specially if you rely on Soul Reaver buff - this is where Callous Execution comes in. Properly modded it can make a big difference for bosses. I found the stun mod particularly effective. Also don't forget some good debuffs in the Nefarious tree such as dislodged spirit.

Purifying Chastisement with the gold damage mod at high CA levels is pretty noticeable. So far thats 32% extra damage all elements including physical even at full health at CA level 10. With the bronze mod- magic thats 64% extra damage on levin array and inexorible subjugation. At CA level 60 you would get + 138% all damage types. I have tested this at full health and it works. (tested at CA level 10).

The other gold mitigation mod is also good but doesn't scale to CA level very well. at CA 1 it is 9.9% mitigation all damage types and at CA 60 it is 15.8% mitigation. Now if you aquire lots of mastery armor with mitigation at mods it could nudge you closer to 100% mitigation = invulnerability. Obviously I have not tested this, but I think the damage mod is better. CA 100 I prefer 218% damage vs 19.9% mitigation personally.

I use the RM + callous execution both modified for stun on bosses. When I get CD I will add dislodged spirit to the fun.

I use Mortifying Pillory + Inexorible Subjugation on mobs size 1-5

I use clustering maelstrom mobs 6+ repeated as needed...

I use PD + FF on bosses and tough situations. I modded PD to lower resists and increase attack I believe.

Wow thank you very much to all of you for your kind helpful advice. It seems from what you've all written that all most Combat Arts for the Inquisiter are useful. I am going to make a printout of this page and keep it by me as I know it will come is use at some point.

Thanks again to all who have replied I really appreciate it.
