World Map Display problems

Help...this is my first post and I need some with my world map. I am running SA2 PC version 2.40. When I try to bring up the world map all I see are the map icons kinda clumped together and no map background. I cannot use the teleporters I have activated. I have tried the Alt/Tab to see if it loads but no luck. The rest of the game runs fine but I cannot see where I have been or see my active quests. I have a PC running Vista with a ATI RadeonX300/X550?X1050 series graphics card. Any suggestions
