claudius 104
I was looking at poison Ivy build and it goes from 10000 armor to 100000 by using ancient bark at 93 CA level. Seems to me you get 80% at least of the armor from AB. So the only thing armor is giving you is mitigation possibly or modifiers like block. But if you use all set pieces then that is moot. Another thing given is regeneration times, but how much benefit is that really? Say it was between fitting in combat discipline - CD and armor? CD would give -20% regeneration AND damage to combat arts - CAs. Riding would also give regeneration. Or you could just use rph to a certain extent and buff suits to get CAs high enough. Am I missing something? Edited February 15, 2011 by claudius Link to comment
Dragon Brother 619
Interesting idea...armour lore and AB both multiply so work really well together, either one alone won't be as effective, but AB definitely gives more of an increase than armour lore, from the wiki it appears as if a level 31 AB gives approx the same increase as armour lore at mastery/ Link to comment
claudius 104
I think the effects of armor lore and ancient bark are additive. Not multiplicative. What I mean: 10 (Base armor) x 1.5 (bonus from armor lore) x 8 (bonus from AB) =15 x 8 = 120 armor... That is multiplicative.. And if you lost armor lore you would be at 80 = 2/3 of potential.. whereas, 10 (base) x [ 1.5 + 8 ] = 95 armor. In this case if you lose the 1.5 you are still at 80 armor which is 16/19 = close to 90% of the base. Losing 10% of armor protection is a lot better than losing 33%. Of course I don't know the real life numbers. But 8 vs 1.5 seems realistic in that ancient bark is giving so much more. The CA level without penalty has diminishing returns but with each level of ancient bark there is no diminishing return. My fundamental question is: 1) does a dryad have enough armor without armor lore 2) can she gain more than she loses by selecting a different skill? I think I am going to try it with my single player build. I wish you could hack (defile) the character later if you want to change something. I guess if I want to change I can pass items through shared stash and jack the xp multiplier up to like 10000 and level to the right level really quick (in single player). If I want to fix later.
