Sic!fried 1 Posted August 5, 2013 (edited) Hi, I'm playing a sword and shield + heavenly magic seraphim. Now I have to decide for my final skillon level 65: "Combat Discipline" or "Ancient Magic" Most guides nowadays tell you that you have to choose for viable magic in higher levels. Personally I think combat discipline satisfies the hybrid nature of my seraphim better and gives her single sword a bit of extra punch with combat arts. Of course both skills would get 75 hard points to unlock the master bonus. Edited August 6, 2013 by Sic!fried
Ysne58 236 Posted August 5, 2013 I'm at level 21 with my current seraphim. She is a hybrid staff wielder specializing in pelting strikes. I find I prefer staff to sword or dual wield for the seraphim. I know the dual wield gets through battle faster because of the way she "slices and dices" but over time the staff wielder does more collateral damage because of the distance strike that dual wield and sword don't have.
wolfie2kX 529 Posted August 5, 2013 Welcome to DarkMatters! Combat Discipline - if you look at the description - allows you to merge up to 3 combat arts into a combo. With Mastery, you get a 4th. Unless you're a fan of combos, this is a wasted skill. If you're not a big fan of combos, I somehow doubt the slight boost to CA damage is really worth the skill. You'd be better off taking Tactics Lore... Which, by this point in the game, you probably already have. Ergo, Ancient Magic would likely be the better choice. as your Celestial Magic skills are all non-weapons based combat arts.
Sic!fried 1 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Both offer +XXX% to Combat Art Damgage. I think the boost from CD is bigger than Ancient Magic and influences all CAs. But some people seem to find the enemy immunity reduction really important. By the way, the only toon, who profits from the 3+ combos seems to be the Inquisitor. All my other characters did choose this for the damage boost and reduction in regeneration time.
