A funny thing happened on the way to Windows 8.1...

So I've basically moved to Windows 8.1 on my laptop. It's not nearly as horrid as some people would like you to think..

 

BUT.. That's not quite what I'm posting about.. .

 

As you might not know, Win 8.1 is like Android, iOS, etc.. It has a store for downloading apps. One of those apps happens to be a jigsaw puzzle app called Microsoft Jigsaw. And in game, they have numerous collections of pictures that are used to make the various puzzles..

 

Imagine my surprise when this one popped up from the Fable Anniversary collection...

That's the Fable 1 Minion.

Fable 1 had 2 rerelases, last being Fable Anniversary (10 years, HD with more content)

I never played the Fable series games, so I cant tell much about them.

I was speculating a while back with SX255 about why mechanical jackalmen seem to pop up so often.

 

 

I think maybe Anubis is just one of the more interesting designs of all the Egyptian gods. It makes him very popular for re-imaginings. I also suspect Stargate had something to do with it, with its mechanical anubis guards and the recurring blue-green energy.

Actually... The Anubis soldiers from Stargate weren't mechanical. They were humanoid Jaffa with special armor that transformed into an Anubis like head. All of the Goa'uld had their own styles in that regard. Witness these:
