on the start up screen there should be an option for multiplayer. pick that and then decide if you want to play closed (your toon is created on the ascaron servers and stays there) or open (your toon is created on your computer and you can play it on or off line). As long as you have put your keys correctly ( there are several numbers/letters that can be confusing) you should be all set.
