    Fairly warm given I'm in the south U.S. But... http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/mississippi/weather-radar BAD rain coming in now (I'm in the red parts in the south). I'm safe and snug inside, main problem is satellite internet likes to cut off when there's bad weather.

    El Cid (literally, "The Master") was a folk hero in pre-medieval Spain who was said to have a shield with a glorious shining dragon on it. This is a recolor of the familiar dragon shield made by Pesmontis and me. It's one a few unique shields to have a damage bonus on it in addition to armor.

    This shield is named after Dyria D'Arquelyght, the empress of the Dryads. This shield design also adorns various spots in Dyr-Laigh, the green tree-top city under her protection. I'm sure most of us remember the little plot twist on the Light campaign when we rescue a helpless "child" and she turns out to be the Archon of the Dryads. This is an adaptation Pesmontis made from a Dryad shield that was purely decorative in design.

    This is the shield of the soldiers of the Urtamark barony. They range far and wide over the land, and are known to the people as stalwart and dependable protectors. These guardians are easily recognized by their green shields, armor and capes displaying the white tree of Kufferath castle. I always liked how you could encounter regiments of them patrolling the woods and how they would help you out if you were swamped fighting the Dark Army. The two block modifiers are unlocked by Shield Lore, but even a non-specialist will benefit from the large number of sockets in this shield. There are other "good guy" shields unlocked in CM Patch 1.50 as well. You can find the scorpion shield of the Desert guards and ornate elf shields unlocked as well as random magic and rare items:

    This shield is used by the Dark Army, a ruthless and savage entity bent on terrorizing the surrounding area and razing villages all in the name of the Unholy Crusade. This group is no ragtag band of outcast bandits - they are an organized and elite fighting force with Mages, Archers, and Knights in their ranks. Lately they have become bold enough to attack and lay siege to Kufferath Castle. Their wooden shields are unnaturally sturdy, deflecting fatal blows and enhancing the powers of their fiery weapons. This isn't the only "bad guy" soldier's shield to be unlocked for the player in CM Patch 1.50. You can also find the shields used by Baron DeMordery's troops and the Inquisition soldiers as random magic and rare items:

    Yeah, torches in Sacred 1...what new character didn't carry around a few in their early levels? These torches however are legit weapons. Aside from this unique, Silver Fox used the "generic" torch model to make random rares that can be shopped. "The first item on the list is a simple wooden torch, which was made into a semi-random rare club. You could previously see these useful lighting devices planted on the walls of the dungeons or carried around by the Night Watchmen, and finally your characters can get them too, both from monsters and from merchants. While not being extremely powerful, the torch is useful for fighting enemies who are weak to fire damage as well as for boosting fire spells... oh, and for fighting your way on a dark road, too. While the wooden base of this torch is nothing to write home about, the fire that scatter the burning particles and ashes about is interesting to watch. Here is the example of how the stats can roll - the fire damage bonuses and a socket are mandatory, but the weapon class specific bonus is random."

    "One night a farmer found a strange large chunk of metal in a smoking pit in his pumpkin fields. It was greenish in hue and seemed to emit an ever-so-faint glow. The blacksmith who bought it couldn't identify the ore - it seemed unlike any he had ever tested, strangely pliable yet incredibly resilient. Mere days after having acquired it, he began to work on forging a weapon from it. Day and night, he labored feverishly over his work, forging, drawing, bending. All other work was cast aside. He claimed he could "see the shape" and that it wanted to be "let out." His close proximity with the metal seemed to make him appear strangely weak and sallow, while the glow of the metal seemed to only intensify. On the very day he finished the work, he looked around in confusion for a few moments, and gasped his last breath. No one ever purchased the axe, however, and as everyone who came near it grew faint or nauseous, his nephew eventually locked it away in a cheap forgotten warehouse." This stunning find is my favorite result from searching the game files for unused and unlockable items. It was an Ascaron creation that was just sitting there, waiting to be added to the game.
