Hi.

I've never given the TG a decent run. I really want to give him a good go now that I have this game on my PS3.

What is a good weapon choice for the TG. I don't mean a specific unique/legendary, but in general. He starts off with a hammer, but is that the best for him, or should I switch to a sword or something ?

What CA's should I go for and where should I spend my skill points etc ?

Any help for this complete TG novice would be greatfully received.

Cheers for now.

STEEEEVE!!

Welcome back!

Welp.. The truth is - any weapon you can wield with 1 hand will do - hammers, swords, axes, even magic staffs... That thing to do is pick a weapon type, take the Lore for it and stick with it.

My observation - there are generally more swords in the game than any other type, but axes seem to have the most bang for the proverbial buck as far as damage per hit goes. Hammers come in a close second followed by swords. Magic staffs come in a distant last.

Since swords are the most plentiful - there stands reason that you should find something good among the pile you wind up picking up f

You can also give ranged weapons - like throwing potions (aka Molotov cocktails) or shurikens which are single handed weapons.

As far as combat arts go... They all pretty much can be useful at one point in the game or another.

My favorites are:

1.) Archimedes Beam - Bundle, Intent and Annul

2.) Fiery Ember - Incinerate, Churn and Sustain

3.) Icy Evanescence - Icy Needles, Deep Frost and Sustain.

4.) Dedicated Blow - Transformation, Confident and Enforce

5.) Charged Grid - Substance, Unnatural Selection and Longevity

Mind you, these are the 5 I typically run with.

My go-to CA is Dedicated Blow - which when configured as above usually one shots typical baddies into an early grave. Champions take 2 shots on average. Bosses take more work - obviously.

Archimedes Beam is good for those situations where you can't get up close and personal with something that needs to be shot. But if something's behind a wall or something and I can't get to it otherwise - either Fiery Ember, Icy Evanescence or Charged Grid will take them down. I use the one most appropriate for the situation. Fiery Ember works in most cases, except those where the baddies are fire based - like in the Dragonsea caves. Down there, Icy Evanescence makes more sense.

Charged Grid is good for when you're escorting someone who is eager to get himself killed as it can heal your allies while hurting the enemy.

The rest - I sometimes use the T-Energy Shroud buff - but most of the time I don't bother. I usually have something Life Leech going which mitigates damage and plenty of RpH to make things spammable.

Some are fond of Deathly Spears - it's not really my thing. Dedicated Blow knocks the baddies into next Tuesday - what more do I really need?

The rest you can play with and see if you like them...

Skills:

Since my main thrust is Dedicated Blow - I picked Devout Guardian Focus and Tactics Lore right from the start. Also added Source Warden Lore and Focus - since I do use most of the CAs in this branch of the tree. Also have Armor lore and Lost Fusion Focus - but NO LF lore... I also have Concentration and for this build, Sword Weapons. Also have EP and Bargaining to round out the build. Mind you, these are in no particular order.

I have points spread equally on all of my skills...

Bravo Steve for making it back to us!

A big Sacred huzzah for you and wishes to you on the game... Never could really stick it out with a TG meself, it's Dryad all da way!

I got mine up to like level 59 or 60 the last time I played him in Silver. The game won't open any longer in single player mode - I have to open it in Multiplayer to do anything with him. :(

Thanks for advice Wolfie my friend.

The more I look at this class, the tougher it seems to be. But, I have been lazy with this game in the past, so I really want to got for it now.

I have previously just stuck to seraphim and sw class which are pretty simple tbh...........still fun though.

It looks like I should definitely go with db then. Hmmm, I might have to restart my dude, as I may have gone down the wrong road !

That's ok though, as I haven't got to double figures yet.

I'll probably be back soon with some more daft questions, lol !

Cheers,

Steve.

You're most welcome - and there's no such thing as daft questions.. I'd say the only "daft" questions are the ones that don't get asked.

Yeah... the TG is quite a bit harder than the Seraphim who is relatively easy to make into a tank or the Shadow Warrior with his infinite cloak of invisibility. The TG has no Dual Wield to put on a Benihana show since he's got only 1 arm to work with and he can't simply hide.

I clearly recall my first TG - He was doing fine - got through the Elf region without much difficulty, got thru Artamark Nor Plat, Seraphim Island and about half way thru the Dragonsea caves. He kicked the unnamed Dragon to the curb in Grunwald, put the smackdown on the Gar Colossus, even beat the snot out of the Octogomalus - but when he ran into Xanthiar the Dragon he got served. HARD.

I wound up parking him there. His build - my first character ever in Sacred 2 - just couldn't get past that bleeping dragon. Kinda hard when you've got 0 Survival Bonus. Boss critters tend to have you for lunch at that point in time and I really didn't see much of a way to get him back up and moving. So I started over. I came to find the build just plain sucked and there wasn't any real way to salvage him as it was all over the place with the way I did things.

It took me a while to learn how things work - but yeah. I got one TG all the way through Gold using the above tactics. He's parked at like level 131 or so waiting me to get the urge to play through Platinum. He's at the very last monolith in the Great Machine complex... Unfortunately, I get distracted by other stuff... Like a curiosity about the other classes. I've done 'em all by now at least once or twice. Currently have 5 different classes going - a Dragon Mage, Seraphim and Shadow Warrior in the mid 70's going through the Dryad region, a High Elf, a Dryad and an Inquisitor in the teens moving through Tyr Lysia... Thinking it might be time to revisit the TG...

The biggest bug for TG is the Jolting Touch bug (where the Silver mod "Self Repair" heals the enemies instead of the player).
I can't think of anything else off of the top of my head though.
