  1. I finished the light side story for the first time yesterday and got my first character up to gold level. I was very impressed by the final battle with the Nameless Guardian group of super-robots. At one point, I had two on me at once, and I had to start kiting like crazy for the first time in the game, because I knew that I couldn't withstand two sets of combat arts at once from the two guardians, even while scarfing red potions. (I could barely survive one combat art attack while drinking a red potion.) So, I give two thumbs up on the big finale as far as combat. The story, on the other hand, is a different matter. Why was it necessary to destroy the T-energy source? Really? An Ancaria with no magical energy? I couldn't help but notice during my travels that Ancaria's cities and centers of civilization, Thylysium for example, are powered by controlled T-energy lines. Destroying T-energy would surely plunge Ancaria into a primitive Dark Ages and cause the collapse of civilization. It would be like suddenly depriving our world of all fuel and electricity! Imagine the anarchy that would ensue. Just because the T-energy infrastructure has fallen into disrepair due to being abandoned by its "creator", and is causing horrible mutations in the flora and fauna, and even reanimating dead corpses, doesn't mean that it needs to be erradicated. The infrastructure needs to be repaired, not destroyed. I think it would have been a much more satisfying conclusion to the story if the main character could have repaired the T-energy system some way. Perhaps it could have turned out that the "Creator" is really an advanced artificial intelligence left by an ancient technological race which could be reactivated with the help of the Seraphim or the Temple Guardians. That AI would be responsible for repairing the damaged lines and restoring the power grid, probably through the labor of the Temple Guardians. The Seraphim might have forgotten their technological roots and struggle with the religious implications of the Creator being a Machine that needs reactivating and repairing. The Inquisitors would have a vested interest in NOT repairing the Creator. They would want to reprogram the system such that they could control the T-energy grid themselves. There are so many ways this story could have been written better! I think the devs might have short-changed the storywriting a bit in favor of other concerns. The above criticism is not to say that I don't still love Sacred2. I will still play and get many years of enjoyment out the beautiful visuals and graphics, the addictive gameplay, and the fascinatingly compelling character-building system.
  2. Thanks, Podgie, I found it. The trick was to follow the southern coast beach, staying in the sand right next to the sea. That's apparently the only way to bypass the central mountain range and get to the southwest corner of the island. I must say I was disappointed in the final reward for this quest - a not-that-great axe. Is that same axe always the reward?
  3. Hello, I've gotten the SW quest up to the part where I'm supposed to go to the southwest corner of the dryad island in the southern gulf of the map. I've been all over that stupid island, and I cannot get through the mountains to that southwest corner. Is there some kind of secret passage, or am I maybe supposed to find a ship later that will sail me back there? I've gotten the main quest progressed to the wastelands in the far west of the map. Can someone please help? I've searched the Wiki and used Google, and I can't find the answer to this anywhere.
  4. Thanks for the links, Malachor! That'll be helpful to anyone who wants to take a closer look.
  5. Just for anybody else who doesn't play both games and know what Titan Quest Vault is: First, Titan Quest is a Diablo-style game that closely resembles Sacred 2. If you love Sacred 2, you'll more than likely love Titan Quest, so you should try it. Second, the TQVault is a utility program made by a fan that links all your saved characters together into a special window. There are dozens of tabs worth of inventory slots to hold items, but more importantly, you can transfer an item into a holding section, then use a dropdown menu to click over to a different save character, and then put that item into the new character's in-game inventory. Using this amazing utility, you can easily shuffle items among dozens of characters without having to start the game over and over. You can save sets, uniques, etc., and gradually build a collection of hundreds or even thousands of special items, which can then be easily transferred to any of your characters.
  6. I see, Dragon Brother, but there are many possible builds of different characters that do not include such an attack, and the player would not know about this problem until too late. I have been reading that there is a dragon in my near future who also has the "invulnerable-invisibility-cannot-be-targeted" bug. Can anyone confirm this? I would sure hate to have to fight a dragon with nothing but Reflective Emanation and healing potions! That would take forever, and I might run out of potions, plus, it would become exponentially more difficult on every level after Silver!
  7. Thanks, Podgie. I don't understand how Clustering Maelstorm works for the Inquisitor, since when I played around with it at low level, it didn't seem to do much anything at all unless there were a mob of enemies that could be smashed against each other for damage. What if the Inquisitor encounters a single Garema Ghost Warrior with no enemies to smash it against? For my Shadow Warriors, I will just have to keep in mind that they need Refective Emanation pumped whether they use it regularly or not, or else they will be doomed when they encounter this bug. I read elsewhere that it may work to hold down either shift or control while left-clicking, which is supposed to force an attack even against the Garema - can anyone confirm this? I also read that the bug has been fixed in the latest patch for European Ice and Blood, but that still leaves us poor Americans having to deal with the bug.
  8. Hello, I just got one of my Shadow Warriors to the jungle and encountered my first Garema Ghost Warriors. They cannot be targeted. The only reason I've lived to tell the tale is that I happened to be playing one of my Shadow Warriors who had Reflective Emanation, and I was able to let the Garemae suicide against my Reflective Emanation shield. But what happens when I play another of my characters who do not have Reflective Emanation? I don't understand this monster. What are you supposed to do when you cannot target the monster with any attack?
  9. Hello, I was wondering if anyone has made a utility for Sacred2 that is the equivalent of the Titan Quest Vault utility. It would make it much easier to pass equipment among characters, and also, I would like way more space to collect stuff.
  10. Okay, thanks everybody, I'll try seeing if I can figure it out by looking at my attack speed in the overview. By "modifed", I meant am I getting attack bonus and speed bonus from my Sword Weapons skill when I use the guitar. I guess I don't have the jargon of the game quite right in my head. Sorry. I claim the excuse of being an old guy with gray hair and early senility.
  11. Loco, thanks. Can anyone confirm for a fact that Sword Weapons skill does mod the guitars? I'm not sure how to tell objectively, since I've already got three blacksmith's art weal attack bonus runes in all the slots.
  12. Okay, I've tried searching the forum, and I've looked on the Wiki. (still no article on this weapon.) I can't find the answer to this question, so I would appreciate some help. The Blind Guardian guitar, not the one that's an axe, the other one with the x% to find valuables, is it a sword or a hafted weapon? I'm trying to find out which weapon lore mods it, if any. You would think it would be a hafted weapon, but I could swear my sword-wielding character is getting his attack speed bonus from his sword specialization skill. A lot of the unique weapons don't list a modifier, including this one. Does anyone know? Thanks.
  13. Sorry I haven't answered sooner. School just started back, and I have a lot less time to check the forums. Double hit works - you'll know by watching and listening to the rhythm of your energy blasts - it'll be like choo, choo, choo, then suddenly CHOO-CHOO really fast, then choo, choo, choo, choo, CHOO-CHOO. I use Force, Intent, and Hurl for mods. If one of them gets "hurled", I like to pretend I'm using a telekinetic body slam. I haven't got the character built up to very high level so far - that darn real life making me hold down a job has taken away most of my play time! I'll probably be building this character and a couple of others (I have a hammer-wielding Thor-based SW and a sword ("light saber")-wielding Jedi-based SW) gradually on weekends and holidays between now and Christmas.
  14. Hi, I'm currently building a SW ranged weapons specialist, and I've noticed something kind of cool. I like to use energizers and pretend like they're mage staves that fire magic missiles. (I miss my Battle Mages from Sacred 1, so I use the SW and make him as much like a BM as possible.) Anyway, as most of you probably already know, when you use a ranged weapon with the Scything Sweep combat art, it fires three projectiles in a ternion pattern. What struck me as cool about this, is that doing it this way almost feels like playing Titan Quest with my old Ternion Attack toon (Spirit Mastery), for those of you who have played both games. The Shadow Warrior even kind of looks like the male TQ toon. I just thought it was kind of a cool connection. Scything Sweep as Ternion Attack rocks! I've learned to spray it at just the correct distance and angle to where I can one-shot kill three enemies at a time on a regular basis. It makes me laugh out loud every time I hear three death sound effects going off in unison! It's especially fun to hear three skeletons exploding! There's still a lot to discover and try in Sacred 2!
  15. Deepest Sympathy. I'm sorry for your loss. It's almost like someone died, isn't it?
  16. The yellow damage details would ideally come on every hit. no one wants to swing and miss right? This is connected to Chance to Hit. Deathblow is an awesome modifier for doubling damage, but has no impact on chance to hit. Chance to Hit is a combination of factors: But the most common comes from the Hero's Attack Value vs. the Monsters Defense Value. you have speed lore at char level which is adding a small amount to attack and defense. as well as survival bonus and leveling add to your Attributes increasing Strength and Dexterity. All of these go to improving chance to hit. Good Luck Thanks for the answers, Gogo and Dark. @Loco: I thought I was only seeing yellow numbers with special damage hits such as criticals, and that, with my staff, all the yellow numbers I'm seeing are double damage. My to hit rate against most enemies is 80% or greater. I sacrifice a bit of offensive ability in favor of defense. The enemy chance to hit me, including with bosses, stays at less than 20%. Maybe I'm just starting to notice the yellow numbers because the staff is making them a lot bigger with all the double damage. I also thought the red numbers were when they got me for a critical, but it's hard to tell because they hit me so rarely. If those red numbers are the only time they're hitting me, then I'm almost invulnerable against most enemies, because I can stand in the middle of a mob for 10 seconds and let them whale on me before I see the first red number. They usually commit suicide against my Reflective Emanation before I take any damage. I'm playing US pre-Ice and Blood, if that matters.
  17. Hello, I'm currently playing a Shadow Warrior level 54, in the swamps. I like to use staves for my weapons. (I know, I could be doing hundreds or even thousands more damage - it's all overkill in single player.) I've found a wonderful staff that is totally flabbergasting me with how effective it is. The pertinent stat seems to be "Opponent Level for Death Blow, +32%". When using this staff, I am amazed at how all of a sudden the yellow numbers just go and go. With all my higher damage weapons, I get yellow numbers maybe one in five to ten hits. With this staff, I am getting yellow numbers on almost every hit! It amazes me. What exactly is happening with the "Opponent Level for Death Blow" bonus on items? This staff is the only item I've found in the entire game that has that particular bonus. If it matters, my general character strategy is to spam Frenzied Rampage. I pump Dexterity for the Defense Value, and wear basically nothing but cloth armor. (I've found that I don't need anything better, and I like the image of an old man running around with cloth robes and a staff who is secretly the most powerful being on the planet.) I have Tactics Lore and Speed Lore maxed, and I have the Perception skill pumped to increase my chance for special items like this staff. Bosses and dragons and that Carthac demon fellow, or whatever his name was, have all been pushovers, with or without the staff. But I am curious what this particular bonus does, since it seems to increase the weapon's effectiveness by a factor of ten. Does anyone know? Thanks.
  18. I wanted to say a word of thanks and appreciation for the scope and design of this forum. The official forum uses colors and fonts that cause tremendous eyestrain. Blue and white and faint grey and corn yellow against a black background? Did they want to cause headaches to their users? Also, the "official" forum is almost devoid of traffic, with few current users, and seems very unfriendly in the general tone and design of boards and posts. Anyway, not to criticize them, but I am very impressed and appreciative of the design of color scheme and board structure and categorization here, and also with the friendly tone and welcoming inclusiveness of posts made. My heartfelt thanks to those who have designed this site and are maintaining it. I'm so glad I did a search for alternative Sacred forums instead of just accepting the official one as the only choice.
  19. I voted Shadow Warrior for several reasons: 1)I'm a male, and I just can't identify with a female toon. This aspect of myself limits me to Shadow Warrior, Inquisitor, or Temple Guardian. I haven't tried it yet, but I don't think I can identify with an Anubis-robot either. 2)I'm Good. Good with a capital "G". I can't stomach playing the Darkside. That rules out Inquisitor. 3)I'm a huge Battlemage fan from Sacred1. The Shadow Warrior can be played as a melee Battlemage with the right "armor" selection and a little bit of imagination. 4)I may try some of the femmes later and go for "drag queen". I'm also gay, although I've never been into camping or drag. I did enjoy the Seraphim and the High Elf from Sacred1. The Seraphim especially makes a good drag queen. (She's tall, muscular, half-naked, and loves outfits that extend her personal space, I.e. wings and headresses.) And one of my most memorable lines from Sacred1 is "Why do you want to die? <sigh>, All right, line up!" Priceless!
  20. Thanks for the feedback, guys. The reason I'm still in the human region at level 50 is that I'm doing all the sidequests and exploring every single nook and cranny of every area. You only get one first time. That's the time I like to use to fully explore and appreciate the game. After the first time, there will probably be no need in the future to even pay any attention to any side quests. I can just go straight through the main quest from silver to niobium with every character and ignore all the detailed creativity that went into all the side areas. I had the same experience with Sacred1 - once I had spent one playthrough with my battle mage really exploring the map, then on every other playthrough with a new character, I kept rushing through the main quest to get to niobium, thinking that I would "stop to smell the roses" on niobium, and that the game would be challenging on niobium, but nope, it was very easy to overpower the game doing nothing but main storyline all the way from silver to niobium. I expect that Sacred2 will be much the same. So this, my first time, is my only time to truly savor the experience of fully enjoying every little corner of the map. The excitement of exploration will never be the same again. Oh well. And so, I think my original point stands, that powerbuilding is only pertinent to multiplayers. Of course, I may yet eat my words, since I have yet to experience the orcish region and the rest of the main story. Please do not ruin my Sacred2 "virginity" with any spoilers.
  21. Hello, everyone. I'm new to Sacred2, and I'm loving it - it's exactly like Sacred1 with better graphics and a whole new huge map to explore! I am currently playing a Shadow Warrior, level 50, and I just beat my first dragon on silver level (northwest human realm (Artamark?)), using nothing but blue cloth armor and my trusty level 12 staff. (Nimbrugil's Doom? - something like that.) I have almost 2000 health potions stashed. A single player almost never needs them, except when fighting bosses. I find myself laughing and shaking my head at all the regular losers all over the region. It seems to me that the single player game is terribly underpowered. At least in Sacred1, red potions, or any other kinds of potions, were somewhat rare, and available in finite quantities. In single player Sacred2, red potions drop from almost every defeated enemy. The player has no worry whatsoever of running out of potions, ever. I beat the dragon by sitting on the red potion button and spamming Frenzied Rampage over and over. I expect it would be similarly easy with any character class and one good combat art. With all the discussion that goes on in the forums about "What is the optimum build and equipment setup?", I have to wonder if these discussions are only pertinent to multi-player fans who fear getting killed or left behind by other human players. It seems to me that discussions of "best-build" may be kind of irrelevant to single player, since I am basically owning the game while next to naked and using nothing but a stick. If it matters, my skills are Speed Lore and Tactics Lore maxed, Blacksmith, Enhanced Perception, Malevolent Champion Focus, Concentration (one point), and I just took Toughness at level 50. No weapons specialties - I like being a generalist. I have both buffs fully modded with three mods, and I just got my Frenzied Rampage fully triple-modded. I've used every weapon and armor combo conceivable throughout my character's career, and I've tried every combat art. None of it makes any difference. I have survival bonus over 70 percent and have never died. I think I would have to be actually trying to make a character not be survivable in order to actually get there. Are most of the questions and posts regarding builds and strategy made only for multiplayers? It seems like it doesn't much matter how you build or play in single player.
