  1. Horse Combat Arts are spells, so ancient magic and intelligence boost their damage. Do you think that a character can kill with horse Combat Arts allone on higher levels?

    My daughter is trying to do a horsewhisperer with acute mind just for fun. She can kill a whole group with charge the few seconds acute mind is up with her level 41 character.

  2. From the german patch 2.31 changes file:

    "Mehrfachattacken-Kampfkünste, die mit Fernkampfwaffen ausgeführt werden, haben nun eine Begrenzung der Anzahl der Projektile auf drei. Modifikationen können diese Begrenzung aber erhöhen."

    Patch 2.34 added a forgotten Inquisitor CA to this. Don't think that there were changes after this. So for all classes now:

    Multiple attack Combat Arts are now limited to 3 projectiles. Modifications can add projectiles.

  3. Well my wife always said that I am only able to do one job after the other else I would forget what I am doing because men would have a single task operating system in their brain. But woman are able to do several jobs the same time, so say my wife and my daughter. So my daughter says she is doing homework, while she sits at the computer masacring classmates in sacred and uses a headset to phone with friends while at the same moment she should babysit our 18 month old twins. So women seem to have an advantage in game play because they have a operating system able to multitask in their brain.

    But I am training my multitasking ability in the local pub when I am frustrated because of my outdated operating system in my brain. I am now able to do 2 jobs the same time: Lifting a beer with left hand and using right hand to lift a finger to order the next beer.

  4. Rhino, the dual wielding staff INT dryad is played by some of the classmates of my daughter. They do duels PvP but backup characters after duels.

    The dryad is not unbeatable, in fact my daughter wins with her build in 2 of 3 fights against them. It could be that she is smart, has well coordinated hand eye movement and as a girl she has a brain which is able to multitask... But she wasn't winning the first fights. She got used to these dryads because many played them. While the classmates got not used to her character.

     

    Surprise, flexibility of an build and the person at the controls have a big impact too.

    Normal attack would be :

    cobalt strike to weaken/reduce stats

    teleport to enemy being invisible

    expulse magic to debuff and block Combat Arts

    magic coup, then teleport close to stun and do explosion -repeat this line

     

    The roots of the dryad can be blocked with alchemy trophies, her ranged attacks too. The staff hits can be reflected by fire skin. If the enemy has no melee but magic attacks then crystal skin to reflect Combat Arts. Add a modified cascading shroud to both skins.

     

    Each character has its good and bad sides in PvP. You have to know yours and the ones of your opponents. Alchemy is very nice in PvP do cover some of your weaknesses.

  5. Yes, I try to be careful. I play nowadays only when my wife is at nightshift and my kids are in bed already. So I can concentrate on playing. But it seems these orcs have never seen an axe swinging elf before. At least I was not running in problems in 70 runs.

    The character was started out of a challenge in HC to play a character with 3 green skills. So all points in vitality. Thanks to alchemy I do not need a weapon lore or stats to hit tougher enemies. I use shuriken to kill bosses and axes to clean mobs, since I am not bound to a certain weapon type.

    To heal myself I have GI buff with life regeneration giving 2700 hp/s in combat regeneration. I steal around 3000 life per hit, and its at each hit with stray damage from magic coup.

    If I get unlucky and more hits pass my shield, reflecting fireskin and 28000 physical armour then I have 100% working heal potions and roasted beef trophies for healing.

    Heal potions get less healing done if used to frequently, but I mix them with trophies (which have a lower delay) and I do okay so far.

    If I learned to play one thing the last 8 month then it is HC melee elves.

  6. I tried with my melee elf level 125 versus level 146 opponents. I can do 3 runs per trollteeth trophy, which lasts around 50 seconds for me. In 3 runs I find in average 1.14 trollteeth trophies and .87 mentor potions. So my alchemistic melee elf gets all her trophies and mentor potions for the runs from the runs. In 60 runs I had to quaff only one heal potion. GI-buff for life regeneration and magic coup with life steal. 3 Set items and 5 unique weapons of which I could theoretical use the poison star. The rest was energy lances and two-handed swords.

  7. I never played a shadow warrior. In my family we play with 4 persons on 2 machines and after placing the bargain characters every 25 levels the next character is thought to be a blacksmith. Since none of my family likes the look of the dog it was decided to do a shadow warrior with blacksmithing and alchemy.

     

    The shadow warrior has a CA which pushes up attack speed so alchemy was planed to replace the weapon skill. Trollteeth give 1000% attack value for 50 seconds at alchemy 300 in niob so hitting bosses is possible without a weapon skill or a CA giving CTH ( I played Elf with alchemy already, my oldest daughter an all weapon dryad with alchemy).

     

    So the shadow warrior would be able to use all type of weapons: sword, shaft, polearm, ranged... with same chance to hit. Of cause it won't be possible to unlock weapon modifiers or get double-hits but skull trophies from undeads are easy to get and they give 30% critical.

     

    You had 2 skills free. I add blacksmith and alchemy. To allow creative gameplay for my kids I wouldn't take ranged. For you it might be okay since it unlocks weapon modifiers. Which skill would you add for creativity? To have more Combat Arts to play with as a kid?

  8. I never run. I am german. We are used to fight till the better end!!

     

    ....Well it is less because I am german but that I still regenerate from an eye surgery. I have too bad eye sight still for hit and run. So I said good bye to my elf-lancers and started shield elves which use alchemy instead weapon lore and have all in vitality. Probably the most robust type an elf can be, but not the fastest in killing.

    The orcs in the video seem to have an magic aura, so expulse magic may reduce their damage a bit. Have to try when my kids leave the 2 game computers alone. My old notebook is mainly to play adom, nethack, tome or angband because it is quite outdated. But at least I can read forum and post.

  9. Todays the first day for me in this forum, and I wonder if my alchemy melee-elves will be good in it.

    Iron ore trophy at alchemy 300 is 3000 physical armour for 50 seconds. The 3000 are before the % stuff is multiplied in. So if the orcs are really only doing physical..... And as an alchemist I have better healing potions and more or less delay less healing trophies. So I really wonder if melee elves can go there. If they are hard to hit: they will at least drop the kind of trophies I need to hit them: troll teeth.

  10. Hi, first post here in darkmatters. I am playing melee-elves since decembre 2008. First was a storm/polearm, then a storm/fire/polearm. The last melee-elf I played had no weapon skill at all, but was using alchemy to hit bosses. The attack speed of magic coup is spell speed given by arcane lore, so the level malus for high level weapns can be ignored too. So weapon lore would be just for attack value and unlocking weapon modifiers. Staves have no weapon modifiers. So I thought:

    I need this weapon skill just to hit bosses. I need a 140-150% hit chance versus champions to hit bosses with around 100%. But is it really necessary to have these 150% all the time? Surely not. So I decided to optimize my equipment to hit the champions with 100% and I will use trollteeth with alchemy versus bosses.

     

    Trolltooth : +1000% attack value at alchemy 300 and niob

     

    So I did a bargaining melee-elf with perception which had no weapon skill:

    arcane lore, armour, arcane focus, bargaining, concentration, inferno focus, alchemy, shield lore , constitution and perception

    I was putting each point in vitality because I play hardcore.

     

    In my opinion the most robust build for a melee elf would be:

     

    02 arcane lore

    03 armour

    05 arcane focus

    08 bargaining

    12 concentration

    18 sword lore

    25 alchemy

    35 inferno focus

    50 shield lore

    65 constitution

     

    Weapon if possible: laser swords with fire because of their high natural fire damage. This build gave up perception for sword lore for the double hits and unlocking weapon modifiers. But the character is still able to use a ranged weapon with more than acceptable hit chance. Shurikens with +% life leech are a nice way to kill bosses.

     

    Alchemy is way better than speed lore in hit chance versus bosses, in protection versus bosses, in heal potion usage, in adding 30% crit chance. And at level 120 my mentor potions last 3 minutes.

     

    My current character is a 3 aspect dryad which has shield/armour, tactics, alchemy, concentration, nature lore/focus, vodoo lore/focus and ancient magic.
