I know there are a number of companies looking for vaccines and a cure...

    big money at stake here

Who scores a homerun here, will carry the cash home with both hands for the next 10.000 years. No company on this planet works for free, or just for humanity and compassion. It is all about the money, nothing else. This counts for Mr Hopp too, the man chattius mentioned. Every country that wants to produce the cov19 vaccine, has to buy the license. Big money? Yes!

    PS

chattius I doubt that your wife can order VPM1002. I did not find much about it. Besides, where do you got the amount of money from the American President offered to buy CureVac? The story disappeared quickly from the media.

China says they're on top of it now...and factories are starting up again... real or not real?

Factories start working again in China? I think so. Money must roll in at all costs. Civil unrest could topple the government. I guess they go for max darvinism. Who survives, good. Who does not survive....good. The rich buy a cozy ICU place, the rest has to deal with it somehow. I believe as soon as cov19 reaches the poorer regions of China, the infection will spread again. The difference is, there will be no press allowed. Has China cov19 under control? Hard to say. You cant test one billion people in such a short time. Also, China has lots of seasonal workers. They could carry cov19 into all parts of the country.

The good news are that countries across the planet work on a vaccine against cov19. First tests are running already, a guy from curevac, a German company, said that a vaccine could be ready in October possibly maybe.

I work for a Food Distribution company.  We're one of the leading such companies in the southern US, but quarantine measures have put us in serious jeopardy.

We have the contract to distribute food to every public school in the state.  And now all the schools are shut down, in this state and the neighboring ones.

We distribute to restaurants, both national chains like Subway, and local mom & pop places.  All are taking a huge beating in sales, as no one is going out to eat.

As bad as business has become, our CEO decided that instead of laying off anyone (remember health care in my country is exorbitantly expensive and health insurance is paid by the employer), they've instead decided to cut our hours down from 40hr to 32hr workweeks in order to preserve everyone's jobs.

So starting next week I'm going to be working 6hr days.

Maybe the CEO is interested in a more direct food distribution. Deliver food straight to the front door. Why not? Order online, or via phone, your company delivers it. Citizens would avoid mass-contact by staying at home, CEO is happy, money starts rolling in, and you keep your job. Sounds like a plan to me.

The only critical point is that the employees that have direct contact with food and stuff must be clean. Not infected. Or even better, survived cov19. Otherwise they could become superspreaders, carrying the infection from home to home. I would say go for it, every boss likes employees with good ideas.

    EDIT

I thought it over. I assume it is better to make contact to the National Guard, or the Army and let them do the delivery job. It is just a matter of time until they are getting deployed. Winner takes it all, I would say.

many were still happily cruising the shopping malls for clothes, shoes, jewellery...

    Trader build, most likely. :tongue2:

Jokes aside, those who can, stay at home, close the door behind you, dont let the cat out. Dont pick up the newspaper, or letters, wear disposable gloves if you go shopping. Cov19 can live up to 72 hours on certain materials and surfaces.

and I would never do all side quest it would take to long to do the campaign then

Also, it does not make sense. Quests are quite simple, there are quest markers on the map, ok, I can remove them, but what for? Reward does not pay after Silver difficulty and it is mostly the same stuff over and over again. XP plus rune, ring, or random set item.  Screwing up quests, or solving them in a proper way, has no effect at all.

Maybe it gets solved one day, we got a lot of coders here nowadays, but until then recording all quests is a waste of time imho.

  6. Denying the existence of cov19 might have an economic background. Imagine people would leave the gym in vast numbers. It leads to the gyms ruin of course. In theory it is global politics under a looking glass. Prevent panic, keep control and the machine running. Absolutely reckless, but as soon as it is about money, there are no rules anyway.

Despite we are thinking the same thought, chattius, there is no use complaining about it. Cov19 will be a test for every society worldwide. Times will be unpleasant, yes, but nothing remains than to take it on. Also, it shows what a man is made of.

    Such a great classic movie!

An instant classic indeed. A shame that the following movies where b-movies in the best case. The animated versions from Japan are even worse. Most of the Startroop actors disappeared somewhere in Hollywood, no one made it into bigger movies. Too bad. I liked all of them.

Speaking of iconic roles, what do you think of the new Blade Runner compared to the old one?

  8. I am aware of the book but I did not read it. Is it worth the effort?

Btw, many thought constructs of today are cheap rip offs. Fascist ideology hasnt changed a bit nor did communist ideology. Those who still repeat it constantly, simply hope that people are not aware of the ideologys fathers writings. If you are, the whole thing collapses like a house of cards.

  9. Ah yes. I remember that I read the interview. Sometimes I ask myself what the devs are doing nowadays. I watched Starship Troopers lately on Youtube. Dina Meyer was so tough in this movie. She has got her own channel on Youtube and when I watched some of her videos, how to cook tasty stuff in a proper way, I had some severe flashbacks. It was like some kind of time travel. From 2020 back to 1997 in a second. Crazy.  Maybe I should watch the movie again...

I doubt there's much that will change with my routine and habits (yet).

Who does not learn from history, is doomed to repeat it.

People went to carnival in Cologne, despite cov19 was already in Gernany, returned to their homes and federal countries infected. It was just a few weeks ago. Nowadays, more and more is under lock down. People leave their home only if necessary and keep distance to others. In some areas in Italy, the Military delivers food and supplies and drops everything in front of your door. The RKI, it is the German CDC, believes that we will have 200.000 dead maybe. And we got a good health system.

Learn from the others and make sure you got enough at home for a month or two.

I am not too worried about it to be honest.

Well, the question is how to deal with covid19? Wait until it rolled through your country then return to normal, that is the classic way how a gov deals with the flu for example, or shut down everything and try to prevent spreading as good as possible. That is the current strategy in Europe. The health system of first world countries is quite good usually, but I dont want to imagine what happens if covid19 starts battering poor countries. In Italy the situation is that far out of control that doctors have to do a triage, which means they have to decide who lives, the one with the best chances, and who dies. What a horrible situation.

If you want to hear some first hand reports from the front line, there is an Italian doctor who blogs every day. What he describes does not sound too pleasant. I will search the articles for you if you want.

  12. The game has the ability to turn a harmless player into a grinning sadist. Yes, it is fun to make your pixel-enemies suffer. After bleeding wounds works properly, thanks to Overlookers Clan, it gets even worse. Enemies that spray blood-fountains into all directions while they drag themself slowly toward you, poisoned to death, are quite enjoyable to watch. The UN calls such behavior a crime against humanity. Guess we are lucky that they arent aware of Sacreds existence. :cow:

  13. It is a while ago that people here asked for a multiplayer session. The interest in it is rather low, for reasons unknown. Maybe people fear that they could get mocked due to a weak and cheesy build. Strange point of view if you ask me, the community is friendly and helpful, but that is how I would explain it.

However. Turokz has his own youtube channel, just google his name. You two could lay the foundation stone to some kind of more or less frequent online sessions. I guess other players will join as soon as they see that there is a stable base. That is how it always starts.
