  1. Thanks for all the help guys. This game rocks. It is not healthy when 4 hours disappear and you have no idea where they went. My wife isn't to pleased when I go into the abyss of Sacred 2. I can't believe I missed out on this game. When I first started playing it I was a bit skeptical because of the graphics and character voice overs. But after 3 days I have to say the rich design of the world along with the cool quests, character building and great NPC's this game really delivers. Again, thank you for the help on where to look and get a better understanding of the game. I feel like I have just scratched the surface. Heh.... abyss... what time is it? Work in 3 hours? Glad to hear you're enjoying this game! Using the wiki for the first little while was a little confusing for me, but if you just type what you want to know about in the search engine, a lot of the wonderful info that is in there comes to the surface! Be prepared to "re-roll" many, many times if you're the perfectionist type... Some of the choices in customizing your characters can go wrong, since Platinum and Niob difficulties (especially Niob) are rather unforgiving. Gold is a nicely balanced difficulty, IMO. Oh, and welcome! 8)
  2. Good stuff! Glad to hear that the "team" is getting some results! Even if not during the event I was really hoping to see multiple Legendaries with 4-5 toons maxing their chances to find valuables... Hopefully my coal miner gets some nicer stuff soon. Level 13 and only one unique so far - Atamark's star, in Silver so no armour bonus 8( EP is level 24 , MF is 35%. So not "too bad" for offline hardcore. Gold difficulty has been opened so I may have to to shop out some more MF! Already been there for relics, and I feel that it takes me away from the "new to the game, how do I find stuff" motif I was aiming for with this build, though. Thoughts?
  3. Glad Pagey had this info. At level 13, HC, I havent' even thought about AM yet! Good to know inadvance not to bet the farm on it carrying me through higher difficulties. <sigh> Will have to take some defensive skills, then. 8(
  4. G'day! Welcome! How is the 500Gig? I've seen the 120's here in The Great White North, but didn't know about a 500 GB version!
  5. Looks good! Make sure you do your planning right (esp. for Combat Art modifications) any combo works good. Just work out a stategy that gives you max kill speed and you're good to go! To keep the HE alive in early levels (definitely if you start in Silver difficulty), keep Grand Invigoration buff as high a level as possible, modified for HP regeneration. When concentration is added (level 5 is good like you have in your list), use the Ice skin buff for starters. Early game, it is better than the fireskin buff but with proper mods, the fireskin is better in Platinum and Niob difficulties. But don't choose her element by that! Iceskin and Cascading Shroud provide nice protections late game as well. The only issue with Inquisitor taking the "attention" of the monsters is that he doens't get the best armour values. My strategy for this was to keep his HP high and use the 1000's of health potions that eventually build up. There are much more sound stategies to fight that, though.
  6. Good advice! There is one quest that you want to make sure you do in every difficulty (IMO): Blind Guardian (for the $$$$$$ - if you use one of the items, its a bonus!) Even if your current character doesn't need the money, you can store the rewards in the chest and give your next character a nice cash boost early in their life. Makes starting in Silver difficulty a little easier to have money to buy equipment.
  7. For the longest time (pre-Dark Matters/wiki) I felt that the set items were a cool idea, but not overly powerful. Yes, with FULL sets, there was definite advantages to the sets, but overall I was unimpressed. Then, after finding the wiki, looking at builds, understanding the game mechanics... yeah, set pieces are usually preferred. Even at level 100, I was using 1 or 2 level 30 set items just to get the set bonus working. I can only imagine that their value increases dramatically when you can trade with others to get your "ideal" armour setup. (ie 3 pieces of one set with 5 of another, etc) So, collect away! if your chest gets unwieldly, you can create characters, and offload items to them as "extra" space for storage / sorting. Happy hunting! (or farming, if your the pacifist type)
  8. Ugh. I hate this practice. I used to keep almost everything (even 2-star!). I've recently de-fragged my PS3 and am now fully enjoying not spending hours looking at my stored equipment deciding what toon to try next. Not that it's not a wonderful idea, it is! Definitely do this if your online and can trade your "good" stuff you can't use for AWESOME stuff you can use.
  9. Of course, not! Actually, I was not referring to the link/video, more of a general observation post. Without life leech, if you have one or two weak enemies near you and another enemy off-screen, it's impossible to tell that Pelting Strikes hit the off-screen mob (after killing the closer 2 enemies with 1 hit each) without "knowing" what is happening. I was quite interested in this phenomenon for a while, possibly as a defensive manouver for hitting bosses, etc from a different room. Never worked when I "tried" to make it work! Only the odd time.
  10. Ok, Sacred 2: Modifiers page is updated - descriptions added for all mods that I know. Just a couple of things if anyone wouldn't mind double-checking: My Faster Increase of Survival Bonus description: Is this good enough? I put beside some mods that I never have seen: Regeneration Penalty +X%; Chance to dismount +x% and Detrimental magic effects +X%. Also, it seems that the Chance to Pierce description is inaccurate. I think that's the description for disregard armour. IS Pierce is when the projectile continues on its' path after hitting an enemy?
  11. If the name of the ARMOUR is red, it is for another class. If the name of a WEAPON is red, your class cannot use it, no matter what you do. wow, it was quite obvious, thanks (even if sad to throw away these awesome items) mods can lock this It took me 5 toons to realize this. Not exactly obvious, IMO. Finally realized when I started a Dryad for the first time and couldn't use the wonderful energy pistols I had!
  12. I am moving forward with this build on PS3... updates will be posted here for consolers! I am guessing the build in post 1 had to be changed due to constant patches that were coming out. Pages 2,3,4 have some skill choices and debates if your interested. So far, I have: (level 13) EP (optional)_____13 Tactics__________5 NW Lore_________5 Dual-Wield_______1 NW Focus________2 Modded Dust Devil first as I am still unsure about RI or DA. I think I'll go with DA first... Modding Ancient Bark first since I am playing "hardcore" - low-level "constitution mastery" FTW! Ok, probably not. I just defragged my PS3, so started without ANYTHING! Not even a shopper will be used for my build, just to test HC (newb) viability. So EP was taken and maxed for 'coal mining' - the offline console version of Gold DiggingTM
  13. I have some updates ready for the Modifiers page, but unsure how to post it to wiki. Looked around for the 411 but couldn't find it. Do I need "contributor" access, or should I just PM a moderator the Notepad file? Many thanks!
  14. With a sword/shield seraphim, I have seen Pelting hit enemies thru a wall, but there was an open door nearby... not sure if that had anything to happen to it. The leech lines definitly went through the wall. Krebsgang - walking sideways like a crab is "side-stepping" in english AFAIK Krebsgang - moving like a samurai circling the enemy - "flanking" in english, although flanking has different definitions, depeding on context. Without using a translator, I think you mean flanking. Side-stepping is closer to evade than flanking (defensive rather than offensive moves). I am on a melee dryad now, but I haven't used Darting Assault near walls, etc. Console observations, obv? Without the life leech, it can be hard to tell where your attacks are hitting (without eagle-eyes, I suppose...) Otherwise, life leech does not affect this phenomenon (tested with Frenzied before Vampire mod). PS3, ofc.
  15. If the name of the ARMOUR is red, it is for another class. If the name of a WEAPON is red, your class cannot use it, no matter what you do.
  16. The part about being more lethal than me is probably going to make her love playing I've been listening to you folks here and looking around a bit and now I have a couple of good ideas of what to suggest and what to play myself aswell! I'm really REALLY happy I got jumpy and started looking into the game early on, making a broken build and having to start over wouldn't have gotten us off to a good start hehe. As of now I'm thinking Shadow Warrior tank build and all-out nuke High-Elf, BFG and ranged Dryad or Shield Maiden and something undecided... I'll make sure to let you guys know what we decide on once the time has come Don't think we're gonna go furniture shopping this weekend after all, she's probably gonna have to pry the controller from my hands with a crowbar... ... and so I got Sacred and my antiquing disappeared? (too obscure?)
  17. Multiple choices is never a bad thing It'll probably end up with her playing whatever she likes anyways haha... But tips are very appreciated so thanks to both of you! Another question that popped into my mind. Do you reckon it is a must to have atleast one melee-oriented character to stand a fighting chance? Not that I mind playing a full-out tank if my girl wants to play a mage or ranger but I've been glancing at the Inquisitor... Hehe Thanks again! Melee character is not "needed", no. Just mind that to play couch co-op, both toons have to be "aligned" - either Light or Shadow Campaign. If Inquisitor is chosen, he can only play Shadow. Seraphim can only choose Light campaign.
  18. Strangely enough, COCE shows way less effect on the chance to hit enemy in the last 10 enemies panel. Are you comparing equal amounts of COCE and OCE? (ie 10% of each). I am also noticing difficulty levels have differences... probably because enemy evasion is higher. Just a theory for now...
  19. I'll confirm that 1000000%! I cannot hit much with the arm cannon in Niob without it. With it, no problem. I just don't pay attention to damage much.
  20. For console play, I would definitely recommend a ranged character. BFG Seraphim is the "easy" choice because you don't have to worry about finding or buying weapons. Also, the playstyle is "hold attack button, kill everything in sight". The BFG just needs some runes memorized and it will stay powerful throughout the characters' lifetime. They're a little slow to start, since making BFG runes at a runemaster takes a lot or runes and/or money. A couple hours "farming" kobolds in Eastern elf region should give a good start for collecting "junk" runes for trading. Money will sort itself out, you still even gain cash when "dropping" (scrapping) items from your inventory. For melee character, see Chattius' recommendation! Oh, the most important factor, of course, is to have fun! Welcome to Dark Matters!
  21. "Put your buffs on" -said by me to my friend who ALWAYS forgets to buff-it-up when he loads his toon! Pretty easy to forget when you're all and ready to go... then get nearly killed in the first battle!
  22. Just to ease minds... I am working on this... but first I may have to re-format my PS3. Also, lost a 3/4 page filled with OCE CtH numbers Totally my fault for not putting it someplace safe... Needless to say, on a point-for-point basis, COCE is more effective than OCE. BUT, more slots are needed to get COCE at same % as OCE........ Also, I have Survival Bonus opponent level modifiers figured out for Platinum. Starting completely over will give good verification on Silver. See y'all Monday!
  23. Links for the manuals are in the "pinned" section of this here Console Forum. Just so if your game came w/o manual, I suggest you leaf thru that because there are a couple of things that are good in there. Mostly jank we get by playing the game for 5 mins, but some enlightening stuff. To directly answer your question, when you left-click joystick, the name of the monster comes up, with some icons below. These show the attack damage types and armour resistance types. If you're not playing in HD, these can be REALLY fuzzy, so I understand your confusion! Yellow=physical, Green=Poison, Red=Fire, Light Blue=Ice, Purple = Magic. These are a little easier to read when fighting a boss (and they stay there all the time...)
  24. Evurr- There is no specific merchant or area that sells specific things, I think that is what you're asking. Any merchant can have "anything" for sale (although Blacksmiths only sell armour and damage converters, and Runemasters only jewellery). Mostly they offer items that your class can use (ie Seraphim armour as opposed to Dryad if you're playing a seraphim). Unless you have a network of nice friends who will trade you wonderful stuff, I feel that Bargaining is much better skill choice than EP, since you can "shop till you drop" if you're looking for a specific item (ie armour with +all skills). With friends, you can get "better" items with EP, but they may not be optimal for your character, so you trade that awesome unique sword you can't use right now for the all skills armour that you do need right now. Do you play 2-player offline? I ask because if you have a second profile on your system, there is a much faster way to re-set merchant inventories than the method the PC'ers know....
