Bondbug 32
Sorry Scrappy. I must be among the few who puke at the thought of peanut butter - it is as much the smell as the taste. None of that for typical English pancakes (I am very out of date of course). Go visit our daughter in Vancouver, she'll make you some nice clean pancakes! Then, as Rusto so sensibly says, lemon juice and sugar. Yummy. Dear oh dear oh dear. Hey Peggy what is the world coming to canny lass? I am hoping, by the way, that although (despite all our best efforts in various threads) Gogo is no pancake expert (not as regards cooking them that is), he may nevertheless be able to give us expert info on "hash browns". Like Scrappy, I always thought they were potato based Edited May 21, 2010 by Bondbug Link to comment
Scrappy McSlap 6
Hm... I'm a bit of a peanut butter fiend, so having peanut butter on pancakes really isn't a stretch (not that different from having it on bread, really). But to each their own. I've never had lemon on my pancakes before. Might have to try that! Something different. Link to comment
Bondbug 32
Don't forget the sugar! Did I ever get any answers to my question (first post) as to how many of you 'toss' your pancakes? You HC folks can be awful cowards when it comes to the really courageous stuff - like tossing pancakes. Link to comment
Rusto 0
I would probably just use a spatula Hot oil in the eye probably wouldnt be too nice, although still better than the time I splashed formaldehyde in my eye -_- Link to comment
Scrappy McSlap 6
Spatula all the way over here... Scoop it and flip it, that's it. Link to comment
Bondbug 32
I think you need the right pan. Ours has a slightly rounded edge so the pancake slips away nice and easily. There shouldn't be enough oil in there to do more than stop it sticking. Shouldn't be any formaldehyde in there either ... doesn't taste too good. Link to comment
Rotluchs 82
Potato Pancakes are awesome! Some people here in Canada like to call them "Hash browns" no other 'secret' ingredients? sounds like the perfect pancake to me, if you happen to burn them, you just smoke them? Link to comment
Bondbug 32
I know some people can't pronounce their H's. Stick 'potato pancakes' up on Google and you get pages and pages of recipes ... tiring! Dobri's post here is by far the best I have seen for ordinary pancakes Edited May 22, 2010 by Bondbug Link to comment

Rotluchs 82
the truth is.. currently I only allow myself to dream of pancakes. set myself on diet then again, maybe I really have an ambivalent 'relashionship' towards pancakes : although they definitely fall under the category 'yummy/delicious' I can't even remember when I had them the last time, I hardly ever make them.. which is kinda strange, as they're easy+fast to do imho, and I normally really do eat+cook stuff I really like, at least "every now and then" up to "very frequently" tho I would never say no if someone would serve me some when I think about it it gets more clear perhaps: most of my 'pancake' experiences date back to my childhood, guess I just loved them more back then than I do now, my taste changed a little bit in the last 2 decades or so ? but as said above: "I'd never say 'no' " Edited May 22, 2010 by Rotluchs Link to comment
Bondbug 32
'erbs' makes me lol everytime I hear it. To be truthful I thought Rotluchs was refering to 'Ash browns when he mentioned ingredients and smoking. So what is all this 'diet' stuff Rotluchs? Or is that an indelicate question?
