Different 'Hidden' Effects of Combat Art's related to Charclass+Weapon

Recommended Posts

this was always bugging me every now and then for quite a while now..

what I mean by the title is:

as you know, each main weapon-class like ranged, swords hafted or pole arms will have a more or less different outcome of their 'attacking-effect' based on the Combat Art you are using, or the Charclass you are playing

  • =either left click or weap related Combat Art's like like spectral hand, pelting strikes, frenzied rampage etc..
  • =or, same weapon, different charclass >> different attack 'base' speed.. lets say, a dryad might be faster with bows than a Shadow Warrior, or a seraphim faster with polearms than a dryad (hypothetical examples, just to show what I mean)
  • =mounted or on foot: then often the attack animation/speed ,range or number of attacks/numbers of hits also varies for many weapon based Combat Art's (spells too?)

all these are varying 'effects' that will never show in any of the games tooltips, or hardly ever..

you come upon these only accidentally with increased playtime/experience after you tried out most of the weapon-types or charclasses.. or, if you play with same weapon,Combat Art,charclass, but sometimes mounted, sometimes on foot..

maybe you could read out some the gamefiles too and find these infos, if you knew where or what to look for...

anyways, I was wondering if there's any info regarding this stuff on the wiki or on SIF/GSF/DARK forum already...

could not find anything on the wiki tho, thought there would be something?

so, maybe you link to any preexisting info regarding this,

or some of the experts like to share their experience in this matter:)

edit:

something else that might be interesting, especially now as there is this big %LL and boss-hunting boom so many get crazy about:

when you try to predetermin your playstyle/charclass based on a build that would only kill through %LL

(by all means, there are fast builds even without any %LL, its just so super comfortable as it would allow more variations for your socketing)

if it comes to which charclass/builds are fastest/slowest for "only %LL per-hit dealers" (no high 'raw/base' dmg dealers):

especially I'm missing info for weapon based attacks that allow for 'hitting' a single target multiple times, per single Combat Art-launch:

once you have made sure you don't have any items equipped that would give you +chance for double hit % (like full armantins, ancrids blade etc)

and if you also have no weapon specialisation skill mastered that would also grant an additional chance for double hits:

how many hits can a seraphim land with http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5/Sacre...Pelting_Strikes for:

  • when wielding a 1h throwstars+shield
  • when dual-wielding 2 1h weapons (plus, will speed always be the same no matter if it was 2x 1H daggers or 2x 1H hammers for example)
  • when wielding 2handed weapons (like 2H swords or Pole-Arms)
  • faster/slower when mounted? more/less hits? decreased/increased range?

same for the Shadow Warrior and http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5/Sacre...renzied_Rampage

  • 1H throwstars+shield ?
  • dual-wielding 2x 1handed weaps ?
  • wielding 2handed weapons ( like hafted,swords...)
  • faster/slower when mounted? more/less hits? decreased/increased range?

or for multi-targeting Combat Art's like the dryad's http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5/Sacre...Darting_Assault

  • how many targets if you don't use ranged weapons but dualwielding 1handed weaps, 2handed weaps or 1handed+shield ?
  • will you still get an additional 'projectile/hit' for very very high Combat Art lvls? (I remember smth like @ ~160 you get +1, or was it ~140 or ~180ish)
  • faster/slower when mounted? more/less hits? decreased/increased range?

Well, I can speak on Darting Assault...

Unmounted:

Dual weilding OR ranged weapons WITHOUT the rotate gold modifaction only hits 1-3 targets, and within a certian arc in front of you. Haven't tried 2H weaps yet, but I assume the same thing for those. With the rotate mod, it seems to hit all mobs around you.

Mounted:

Animation time is the same; #targets/hits is the same; range in INCREASED a little. Very noticable difference in range. I am sure that enemies that are right on your "tail" ie behind you, do not get hit by DA.

Also, with respect to different weapons and animation speeds:

Daggers>shortswords>1H clubs and swords and axes>polearms>2H swords and axes/hammers.

Not entirely sure on where poles and 2H weaps fall exactly. There are 2H axes and 2H hammers, so they may be different as well.

And, well, why not, as long as you're talking about hidden combat effects in-game, does your dexterity have an effect on attack animation speed? :)

Yeah, that's because when mounted, monsters only need to be able to hit your mount, while you have to hit them (from the seat), hence without increased melee range when mounted you have the situation where the monsters can hit you but you can't hit them...

The 2-handed axes/hammers should be Shadow Warrior only & I'd expect them to be at the bottom end of the speed range.

No, I don't think so.
