New Build Philosophy

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Thought I would share this/these 'tidbit(s)' on a new build style philosophy that is possible in Ice and Blood.

Everyone with the addon is familiar with Rph working (and I'm late to the game).

This combined with Combat Discipline and the expert touch regen system allow for very powerful hybrids.

That's right, hybrids.

We know that expert touch lowers the regen for all arts, but starts a cooldown on them all when any art is used, thus weakining the 'hybrid' or so is thought...

The catch is simple, Combos still operate under the old regen system mechanics, and basically all that matters is the last art in the combo when using about 2.0 RpH.

For instance;

Combo 1: Hallowed Restoration + Soul Hammer + Pelting Strike.

This combo under the expert touch will allow a shorter regen than the hybrid/old regen system regardless of the multi aspect.

It will still regen off the last art, pelting. With RpH you can regen all in a hit or two.

The advantage is that it your Combat Art's will all have a lower regen, and the negative of using only one Combat Art at a time is defeated entirely via combos.

Basically, in the end, if you're planning on using a single aspect, or hybrid, opt for the expert touch if you're going to use combos exclusively.

Lastly, seems they hit Hallowed Restoration pretty hard with the nerf hammer after we reported it. The mass healing is still quite nice, but nowhere near what it was. The wiki is definitel dated, it's not even close to 20+ 40per Combat Art level anymore. More like 20+ 10 per Combat Art level. Still very useful however, prevents DoT's, 100% root removal and can stack - detremental effects so weaken etc doesn't hit as hard.

Cheers,

Yes, Ice and Blood made hybrids like our shield maiden (storm and arcane elf) even more powerful. Or our Steamrunner Temple Guardian: fiery ember without lore to aggravate enemies and let them run into deathly spears, which are recharged with quick normal knife attacks, ....

RpH even allows such crazy builds as my new 'Lady in Black', a pure arcane elf which is not even using a modified buff.

Another aspect of high weapon combat arts is, that most of them have a build in hit chance. Pre-RpH you did hard to have such a Combat Art higher than 20-30 and so the hit chance was comparable to the one of a weapon lore. But with RpH your weapon-Combat Art can be level 100 or higher. So the hit chance given by the weapon-Combat Art is up to 10 times higher than the one of a weapon skill.

Then people found out that Combat Art-speed is spell speed if the weapon-Combat Art is not modified by tactics lore...

So you can do builds with archangel's wrath ,magic coup or spectal hand which don't need a weapon lore. So you have more free skills to design a real hybrid.

A lot of funny builds are now possible.
