Bluestone Pirates

Recommended Posts

I just started editing the Golden Coast page. The original author referred to all the Bluestone pirates collectively as "Bluestone Pirates". I did create a link for it, because it was lots easier to do that than to list each type of pirate separately.

Only one problem there - the Golden Coast - on the west side of Tyr Lysia - there aren't any Bluestone Pirates. They pretty much keep to the EAST side of Tyr Lysia - near Bluestone Lake. No loss - the page will come in handy for that lot when you get there.

The pirate gang on the west end are known as the Jade Buccaneers. They have the unfortunate handicap of shopping at Pirates R Us (Buccaneers R Us?) just like their Bluestone counterparts because they all dress exactly alike. Who knew pirates/buccanneers had a uniform...? Either way - they're difficult to tell apart without checking the name on the red bar.

Good stuff Ysne. Can you make the link for the Bluestone Pirates go to the High Elf Enemy page? That page contains all of them.

Sure, just tell me how to do it and I will be happy to do so. Then I will know how to do it for future issues.

Golden Coast: I renamed the Bluestone Pirates the Jade Buccaneer Pirates. As soon as you walk me through how to direct them to the high elf enemy page, I will do that for both pages.

There are two screen shots that reference Bluestone that should probably reference Jade Buccanner.

The way I would find it is go to the Sacred2:Fallen Angel Wiki main page. On the left hand side, click on 'Bestiary'. Once on Bestiary main page I would click edit and scroll down til I found the entry for High Elf and then copy/paste what was there.

In this case the code is this High Elf

I went back and looked thru the area and while there are more Jade than Bluestone pirates, both are present along the coast. Probably best to just say pirates on this page. I'll edit the pics and links and you can look at it again and see if that is what you want

Garden of crystals maybe? Haha. I'm not able to find a caption though Ysne. Are you meanng the file name? As in square-and-gardens.jpg? If so then we'll be leaving picture file names as is and allow people who upload to choose their own naming scheme. As long as it's relatively close it's fine. Ultimately, file names have never been troublesome for us. :)

P.s.

You do bring to light a good point though. When viewing that pic you linked to the file name shows up in my browser tab. That said it would be great if uploaders kept that in mind and used carefully chosen file names. That picture might have been named seraphim-monastery1.jpg instead. All the same not of great consequence but a nice added touch.

ummm, eerrr, well I've been 'short-handing' the heck out of mine. They probably only make sense to me  Given the sheer number of pics I've uploaded, to write out an intelligible file name, would have taken a lot more time. That and I'm a pretty slow typer here. (I do type with both hands, but only one finger on each) If you want, future pics can be written out as to make more sense. Let me know :D

Hehe. Nah, it looks as though your pics are pretty well named. I just looked at your Golden Coast pics and it's more or less how I would name them. Actually, I think I reached a point where I would just use the page name with a numeric suffix. Like "goldencoast1.jpg" "goldencoast2.jpg" "goldencoast3.jpg" etc... Not a great concern though. since we're using categories to manage the images. :)

No problem Ysne. Here we go; To change the page a link takes you to without changing what the link reads you can do the following:

Example: Jade Buccaneer Pirates

The first part, in blue text, of the above wiki link tells us what page the link will take us to. The second part, in orange text, is the text that will be used to display the link; or the text that the link will be read as. Since we want to change where the link will take us we should change the first part:

Example: Jade Buccaneer Pirates

Also, since the Golden coast contains both Jade and Bluestone pirates the link should read only as "Pirates". So for that the second part of the link will read as Pirates:

Example: Pirates

That's all there is to it! ...Keep in mind the red bar between the blue and orange text in my example. It needs to be there for the link to work.

P.s.

I think the other enemies on that page should probably be in caps. First letter of each word in their names that is.

Ok. so just have a page for pirates and have information about both the Jade and the Bluestone pirates on it. Sounds like an excellent idea to me. Then we do not need a separate page for each one. I think we might want to add links to any quest that includes pirates. Whenever we find pirates I can just put this link in to the page. I will take a look at the page.

Just checked the area and there are Bluestone Pirates about. They seem mostly over by the far western side of the Golden Coast. That said there are way more Jades than Bluestones

I forgot to save the page...I was looking at the preview this whole time :twitch: My changes are saved now if you want to take a look

I have done that a time or two. I did look and they look good.

I think I'll let gogo or Schot answer that one. We may be opening up a can of worms with that, as I could see us making pages for Ore-Thag and Gurrtag Orcs, Nameless Cult, Unholy Dark Crusaders etc etc. The wiki is gogo's and Schot's baby (I just babysit every once in awhile) so it's really their call.

Great! So just so that I'm on the same "page"... ^^ We are not creating a new page. Rather we are linking to the High Elf Enemy page so no need for a new page. What could be done on the High Elf Enemy page though is to group the Bluestone Pirates together and group the Jade Pirates together. One group after another.

I'll have a look at that option. The wiki is actually mine as well as gogo's so I can see about calling on this one. :)

lol sorry Schot...no slight intended :D

(I know I am gonna pay for that though )

It would be a good idea to create sub-categories on the Bestiary pages. On the Orc page alone we have Goblins, Orcs Ore-Thag Clan Orcs and Ogres. Being able to link the sub-section instead of the whole page or each individual enemy link would be much easier.

edit: I need to do some Bestiary work anyways (fixing old region links and adding Ice and Blood content) so I can fix the pages if you want. One question though. say I make a sub-section for 'Pirates' on the High Elf page. Do you want the group title placed alphabetically in with the individual enemies or maybe add the group sections on top?

Oh no need to apologize. Come come now. Have a seat and relax. Oh, not that chair. THIS one... Haha. Just felt the need to emm, clarify Knuckles. Don't want me blood and sweat going unnoticed. :sweating:

Grouping on the enemy pages would be perfect. In fact by design some of the enemy pages already have groups simply because of the way Ascaron named them. Humanoid Monster for example. Oh and we can link to a specific enemy on an enemy page listing. Humanoid_Monster#Kobold_Shaman. Having the TOC visible makes it easy. You click on the enemy name you want to link to from the TOC and then copy the text from the address bar. What you copy is everything after Sacred_2:.

Link to comment

Thanks for the explanation Schot. I'm still learning the linking process. I think the better suggestion is the groupings on the high elf page than creating a separate page for pirates now that I have a better grasp on how the beastiary works.

I'm working on grouping and linking the Pirates now, once Schot explains/fixes what I'm doing wrong :D

As soon as they're done I'll post the links here.

edit: what does TOC mean/refer to?

Link to comment

You're welcome Ysne and believe me I know; there's so much to learn. :)

Sorry Knuckles. TOC is the Table of Contents on some pages. At the top of some pages you can see __NOTOC__. Erasing that and saving the page will cause the TOC to be visible on the right.

Here's a sample I made for grouping. High_Elf_Enemy#Jade_Buccaneers You can see from the TOC how nicely the Jade Buccaneers are listed.

Cool thanks :)

Is it o.k. if I turn Jade Buccaneers into a link and then create the page with all the different Jade Buccaneers on it? This way on the quests and places pages all they would have to do is type Jade Buccaneers and it would bring them directly to that page with just those enemies on it? I started to do it on the Bluestone Pirates but stopped once I saw that you were working on the page too

Link to comment

I went ahead and converted the headers into links (I hope this is ok Schot)

On the quest and places pages we can now type this code in when referencing pirates instead of trying to link them individually or simply referring to the High Elf enemy page

Bluestone Pirates

or

Jade Buccaneers
