  1. Is there a way to turn off the "auto-leveling" of the monsters? I've played Sacred 2 for a while and I am not a big fan of the auto-level feature. It seems to be turned off in the multi-player mode. I noticed this because when I played local-lan I teleported to an area where the monsters were MUCH higher level than me. I miss that feeling that there are areas in the game where I am going to get pwned if I don't level up my guy and get better equipment beforehand. Thanks in advance for any responses to this post.
  2. I am only interested in local LAN play, so if my copies aren't valid for online closed-server play I don't care. Do I have to activate my Ice and Blood just like I activated my Falled Angel copy? I'm guessing then that the version steam is suppose to have is the UK version then. Thank for the reply.
  3. I got 3 questions here. 1. Is there a way to turn off the "auto-leveling" of the monsters? I've played Sacred 2 for a while and I am not a big fan of it. It seems to be turned off in the multi-player mode. I noticed this because when I played local-lan I teleported to an area where the monsters were MUCH higher level than me. I miss that feeling that there are areas in the game where I am going to get pwned if I don't level up my guy and get better equipment beforehand. 2. I am interested in getting Blood and Ice, but I need to be able to install it on 8-12 machines. I host lan parties at my house and I have bought 4 copies of Sacred 2 and since I can use the key 4 times in 3 months, I installed it on all of my machines. Can I do the same with Ice and Blood? 3. Where is the cheapest place to buy Ice and Blood? I see that I can get it off Amazon.uk for about $20. I also read that the US version is available on Steam, but I couldn't find any prices. I really want to play Sacred 2 again at my next lan party with "auto-leveling" off and Ice and Blood installed. Thanks in advance for any responses to this post.
  4. I would love to play Dragon Age, but I don't think it will be anytime soon due to the fact of no multiplayer. Maybe they'll put out a multiplayer patch?
  5. Interesting comments on Tom's Hardware, I didn't not know that they had changed. Don't goto their site THAT much, the graphics cards comparision chart is mainly what I look at there. I knew that they made some improvements to Vista, but from what I had heard, it's still not up to par. I did a fresh install of XP64, same hardware, from XP 32bit and I can see a difference. I also don't have a $3000 machine, so I can't say as far as the new graphics cards, but I haven't had any trouble with drivers. When XP64 first came out they were hard to find, but I didn't have any trouble this time. I know that XP64 takes the same windows updates as Windows 2003 server, so I'm guessing that it was built more off of that. I know a fresh operating system always runs faster, but I keep my OSs pretty clean and don't load up a ton of clutter like most.
  6. I think it was PCMag or Tom's Hardware that did the testing on Vista and then retested on Win 7. They optimized all 3 operating systems for performance and ran them on the exact same hardware. They got their results from running multiple benchmark programs and comparing results. I don't have much experience with Win 7, just the testing that I have read. I know for sure that Vista is a ridiculous resource hog from my own experiece with same hardware tests. I don't remember where the testing was posted, it's been a while since I read the Vista testing and I just went to the summary of the Win 7 when it came out. But they did say that Win 7 was at max 7% faster than Vista. From a gaming point of view, this makes it a no-brainer which OS to choose when building a gaming rig. XP64. My question would be - why even goto Win 7? I haven't seen a good arguement yet. If someone can give me a good reason to upgrade, I'll do it. But to drop the money on an OS that going to run 10-20% slower than what I have right now? Why?
  7. Dual-boot to XP 64 and you should not get any framerate drops. You are taking about a 30% decrease in performance in running Win 7. Vista is AT BEST 40% slower than XP. Win 7 is AT BEST 7% faster than Vista. So really my 30% estimate is giving Win 7 extra credit.
  8. It would run smoothly under XP. That's similar to the setup I have and it runs fine on medium settings. Vista is what's gonna kill your framerate. Windows 7 won't be much of a help either. I'm staying with XP till they put out an operating system that isn't quite a resource hog like Vista and Win 7.
  9. They've been predicting the end of pc gaming for years now. Funny thing is that consoles are most LIKE pcs than the consoles from 15 years ago. The problem with PC gaming is piracy. It's a little harder, but not remotely impossible for piracy on a console.
  10. The xbox 360 and ps3 are just basically 'wrappers' for a lowend pc. I'm pretty sure that you can even surf the web on both. Both have dvd/blueray drives, ethernet connections, hard drives, video cards and I think x86 architecture. You could even say that it's not console gaming anymore, but more along the lines of PC-lite and PC gaming to be more accurate.
  11. I actually have a total of 2 hard drives that have failed now that had Sacred 2 installed on them. I sent an email to support@secuROM.com with a scanned copy of the back of my manual. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to get back to you? I have a LAN party this Saturday and would like to get this resolved well before then.
  12. I actually have 14 machines, but only 13 are strong enough to run Sacred 2. I just got my 4th copy of Sacred 2 in the mail today, so I'll be able to install it on all my machines with 2 extra now. I got a LAN party this Saturday and about 12 friends coming over. I'm going to be handing out tissues at the door so that they'll easily be able to wipe up their tears when I hand them their asses in UT3.
  13. gotta second Fight Club. Also Swingers is another Favorite Most Watched. I have seen both of these movies a million times, have the DVDs and will still stop and watch them when they are on tv. You are so money and you don't even know it. You're like this big bear and she's this little bunny. You got these big claws and you can't kill the bunny, you are just pawing at it. I don't want you to go up to this girl and be the PG-13 guy that everyone really hopes will get the girl. I want you to be the rated R guy that you're not really sure if you like yet or not. You miss the pain? Yea, you miss the pain. For the same reason you missed her, you lived with it for so long. The things you own end up owning you. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very piffed off. And the list of quotes goes on and on . . .
  14. I found one thing that really helped out one system, but didn't do anything to another. I added -nocpubinding to the shortcut to start the game. The machine that I added it to was a Pentium 4 2.6. I don't know if that machine had HT or not. I added that line to a machine that had a AMD 2800+ and it didn't improve anything. I'm guessing that means that the 2.6 has HT because I know for sure that the AMD 2800+ is not a HT or multicore machine. I'm assuming that means that adding -nocpubinding to the shortcut of a HT or multicore machine will increase framerate. Doesn't make sense to me, but if it works, it works.
