  1. Welcome back to the land of the living...! Quest guides - single and chain quests - are definitely lacking beyond the Elf region. LOTS of red quests and chain quests in Artamark, the Orc region and beyond. Some of the chapters don't have much, if anything listed on the quest list page or the chain quest page. In fact, the only one that's accurate on either page is the wastelands where there don't seem to be any side or chain quests. Keep your eyes open for easter egg type stuff. Gogo's been on an easter egg bender of late. Any of those will be most welcome.
  2. Well.. There are some tricks to the HE... Your best weapons are Blazing Tempest, Incendiary Shower and Cobalt Strike. Build those up anyhow as high as you can. Glacial Thorns is also quite useful. I'd also invest in Grand Invigoration and keep that running constantly. Expulse Magic is a MUST for giong up against certain boss types - like the Yeti chief in the Northend/Christmas Island campaign and the Dark Prince dude in the swamp. They WILL use Expulse Magic against you and that will debuff you very quickly. Use it on THEM before they use it on you. Having a good life leeching bow is always a good thing to have. You'll want to invest your skill points in all three aspect FOCUS skills as well as concentration to bring the spell casting regens to a minimum. You'll probably want the aspect LOREs as well to boost damage.
  3. Eh.. As far as asthetics go - yeah.. I suppose Bluestonbury is ok.. But as far as anything else goes - it's not really a favorite area. No merchant, smith or runemaster anywhere in the area. The only bonus is the player chest. If I had to pick an area though - I'd probably have to go with Libi's Pratfall. Big waterfalls and leads to the Ascaron Office quest. Though I gotta admit I share your distaste for Griffinborough. The layout sucks, the smiths aren't where they're supposed to be half the time and you have to run around chasing after them. Everything's a royal pain to get to. Orcs may be simpleminded - but at least their towns are laid out in a way everything's easy to get to. Edit: I think I've got a new city/town that's earned the title as my least favorite. That'd be the Dryad city in the trees - Dyr-Laigh... Compared to there, Griffinborough is a piece of cake to get around in.
  4. I think I may have an answer to that... It depends on if it's linked to a particular skill. For instance, I'm cruising through the west end of the Elf region and I came across two different items with the same bonus mod - though one was yellow and the other was blue. Item 1 is a Crimson Fury Throwing Knife. Note - it has a yellow "Chance to find Valuables" modifer. Item 2 is a generic "hoop" But notice the bonus on this item. The "Chance to find valuables" is in blue - and is dependent on you having the Enhanced Perception Skill: Of course, my Seraphim doesn't have that skill -hence the EP is in red.
  5. OK.. This is the one where you gotta take some gold from the rich dude in Thylysium to the farm outside of the city - then the guy in the yard wants help with a boar problem in is vineyard, and then he wants you to escort him to the big city. How did you get him to the east gate? Did you do it by way of the long way to the south, the short way through the temple or by way of the resurrection monument teleportation? In either case, you should be done with and free of the guy and his ox as soon as you reach the target area and talk to him. He will thank you and give you whatever reward (XP, Gold, etc...) and be on his way. The quest completed indicator should have done it's thing and the two little status bars should be gone from the right of the screen... If that's pretty much where things stand, and they're still following you... What version of Windows are you running the game on? If you've got Vista or Win 7, there's possibly a sliver of hope. Not quite sure about XP... You see, Windows 7 (and Vista) have a thing called "previous versions". Since the save files are stored in the C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents tree under the Saved Games subfolder, that gets backed up every time you set a system restore point. The trick is to find the file. This is easy enough if you've only got ONE character you're playing. There are two files, one called hero01.sacred2stats and the other called hero01.sacred2save. The one ending in "stats" is a text file and you can open it in Notepad. If you've got more than one charcter, you can figure out which one is which by looking inside the stats files. They will look something sort of like this: v2.43.0 build: 1671SoftcoreName: SeraphimType: 1God: LumenAlignment: 1 That will be followed by a bunch of other stuff that, at this point isn't too important. The thing to do, is note the name of the file that contains your character's stats and find the SAVE version of the file. Right-click on the file and look for the Previoius Versions and it will locate them in the automated archive. Pick one and select COPY. Drop it in the Saved Games\Ascaron\Sacred 2 folder. Overwrite the existing version (after you've backed it up, of course) and start your game. It'll bring you back to a point prior to where it went south. Hopefully you'll have one recent enough where you won't have to start over completely.
  6. Hacker thing? What thing? O.o I HAVE MY PC BACK! Wohoo! I can't find the version when the silly message appears, though. :/ PS.: I'm sorry I hadn't replied, I didn't recieve the e-mails for some reason. Ah.. You missed the whole thing. Darkmatters got hacked last week. Some Turkish skript kiddie took down the server and it took a few days to recover. Notice there are some missing posts on this thread? That's because they weren't on the last good backup. VERY cool on getting your PC back. The version number as Dragon Brother said - that's on the very first line where the silly message appears. It should read something like: Sacred 2 version 2.43 build 1671 If I do, then the DVD box doesn't say so. If you visit the Sacred 3 site, on the right hand side, there's a picture of each of the 3 editions of Sacred 2 that are currently available for the PC . Which box does yours look like?
  7. Thanks... Just giving back a bit of what I've learned reading stuff on DM... You're welcome... I did notice you had some runes stowed away in your inventory. If it's possible, you might consider a strategic retreat and make your way to a handy rune master and convert some to Expulse Magic runes and read them. (That is, if you don't have any that are already EM runes). Having something invested in the skill may be better than nothing.
  8. I got another one for ya.. And surprisingly it was under everyone's noses... One of the graves near where the Shadow Warrior gets 'born' has the title "Live and let Die" - which is the title of a Bond flick from '73... Noted, logged an online...
  9. Mr Hankey from Southpark http://southpark.wikia.com/wiki/File:MrHan...istmasPoo15.jpg Er.. Right.. So how we can expect this electrified pile to jump up and say "Hidey Ho!" or something? Besides... Mr Hankey is supposed to be a good guy.. Besides.. I do believe he's been trademarked and copyrighted by Comedy Central, and everyone else behind the show. Probably not a good idea to invite legal poo if we don't need it. Edit: Ok.. how about a pic of a Llama..?
  10. I think I may be seeing the problem... I took a look at the pic posted on sacredwiki of the Guardian himself... He looks sorta famliar. Kinda reminds me of the Yeti boss on the Northend quest. He's basically a very strong troll type character and he uses Expulse Magic. If you look at the picture, you'll note the lines of force running through him vertically and fanning out in a circle around him. Expluse Magic is a High Elf CA that prevents your enemies from launching magical attacks while they are inside the field.. Not sure what it's called in French but it's the one to the left of Grand Invigoration on the Combat Art screen. And by all appearances, you seem to NOT have any runes invested in that CA. When I last went up against Hanier/Walther (Walther is the name of the boss in the Christmas Island quest Same guy, just recycled), he too was a royal pain in the neck to defeat. The key to defeating him with my High Elf was using Expulse Magic against him before he could use it against me. If he throws out Expluse Magic at you, your spells don't work too well against him. I set up a couple of combos: Combo One with Expulse Magic followed by Incendiary Shower Combo Two with Expluse Magic followed by Cobalt Strike. My Expulse Magic was at level 6 or 7 and Incendiary Shower was around level 5. Cobalt Strike was around level 8. I switched between the two plus two other spell sockets with straight Incendiary Shower and Cobalt strike so one was recharging while the other was in use and ready to go. I was also equipped with a bow with some life leech and a chunk of lava smithed into it. I also had a LOT of health potions in my bag. And patience. These yeti boss types are NOT easy. And if he DOES manage to fire off an Expulse Magic spell at you, it helps to move outside of the rings and then fire off your spells. Depending on your level and his, he may or may not have his Expulse Magic modified to block magic attacks from outside of the circle.
  11. Um.. No. I've managed to get all 6 of my characters past that area and none of them had a quest trigger in the area. The only quest in the area is the spider cave in Ephraim's Nightmare.
  12. Don't forget the Forrest Gump one either... It's up there now as well.
  13. Hi and welcome to Darkmatters! The first thing I would do is check the Sacred Wiki entry for The Guardian to see if the weapons/spells you're using against him are a match for the sort of damage he's weakest against. A quick check reveals he's weak against fire, poison and magic. That would tend to mean that he's stronger against ice damage. Might try using some pyro spells - or at least a weapon with a chunk of lava, poison fang or magic pearl smithed in it. Perhaps a ring or amulet with damage bonus to those elements. Blazing Tempest or Incendiary Shower would be top picks for taking a boss like that down. Good luck!
  14. I'll have to go along with everyone on that... The blood and guts are a bit much. Even though Sacred 2 is supposed to be rated age 17+ in the US (no idea what the EU version or other versions are rated, if at all), we ALL know that hasn't stopped anyone younger than that from playing it. And we know that there's a darn good chance they may show up here and on the wiki... Soo... Best play it safe.
  15. Yah.. I saw the Prison Camp listed on the map but hadn't gotten down there before. Figured I'd start looking for the bloody sword down there and found the quest. Figured I'd do it while I was there. No sense NOT doing it while I was there. Fortunately it wasn't too big a deal.
  16. OK.. Any idea where this sword in the stone is located in Grunwald? Say, in relation to the temple or any other landmark? I have been there twice while uncovering the fog. I will have to get in-game and mark it so I can pin point it on the map. No rush.. I found it.. It was in pretty much the last block of fog left on that particular area... (Isn't it always?) The new page for it is up!
  17. One more chain quest bites the dust - Outpost Wrathhill - in the Artamark region. Done! STILL looking for Excalibur... I'll post it once I have all the details. I found it..! Of course, it'd be in pretty much the last patch of unexplored ground in Grunvald...! Now appearing on the Easter Egg page. Check it out here
  18. I don't believe there is a word for that sort of thing - at least not in the US. You see, here, if it was a US world cup win, the white and african american people wouldn't be exactly excited. Soccer here in the US isn't really considered a sport worthy of attention by many people. Not even David "Bender" Beckham has been able to really do much to raise the sport's status. For that matter, neither did the legendary Pele... The hispanic people, on the other hand, would do something similar to what your videos showed. In fact, I saw some of them doing just that when Mexico won it's first first round game. The only thing is - there weren't quite so many cars, nor horns... On the other hand, if this was the final game of say, the NBA championship, the winning team's city would erupt in a bit more violent celebration. The last couple of times the LA Lakers won, things got out of hand and there were a few minor riots. Think party in Artamark vs the same sort of party somewhere in the Orc region. NO comparison. If you've got the time and can recall where they might be, feel free to grab some screenshots and post 'em on line... I'm sure that would make Gogo's day...!
  19. Well.. It's potentially valuable as far as WHAT there is out there, but not so much for WHERE to find it.
  20. Hmmm. I'd like to see his even bigger model. Flinging a double decker bus.. That should be spectacular. At that point, Gar'Colousus shouldn't be too difficult to get airborne... Was just doing a bit of mental math on the pic. Just trying to get my head around how big it really is. I figure the cheese wheel is about 3 foot diameter. Or roughly a meter. The wood then seems to be about 4 times as long or ~4 yards/meters. It's about ~2 yards/meters wide and I'll guess about 1/2 yards/meters thick. The spring therefore would have to be about 4 times thicker than those found on an 1950's era car. The thing it reminded me of most - a rodent the size of ...
  21. OK.. Any idea where this sword in the stone is located in Grunwald? Say, in relation to the temple or any other landmark?
  22. Ah yes.. You open the coffin, the skeleton sits up, looks around him, lays back down, and slams the coffin lid shut behind him. VERY funny stuff..
  23. Sorry to report, there weren't any in evidence in the area... And as you can see, I'm in Grass mowed graphics mode so it'd be quite obvious.
  24. Well, now I know! THAT's why you don't feed the Llama8 curries! (grave inscription somewhere...) Makes sense to me... Speaking of graves... Anyone up for a section on celebrity graves or statuary? There's a bunch in the Thylysium cemetary - and in a sense they're a double easter egg. You know the ones - "Warren Zevon - So long and thanks for all the music". The "So long and thanks for all the ____" bit is a nod to Douglas Adams' classic 4th part of the Hitchiker's Guide Trilogy "So Long and Thanks for All The Fish".
  25. Thanks.. I knew I read something about it somewhere. There's a post on that thread linking back here and to the wiki entry.
