  1. I played a bit of Keg Brawl just now and it was actually tons of fun! The team balancing just seems a little off at times, but when the teams are evenly balanced, it actually makes for some serious entertainment! At one stage, no team could get a point for a while and 3 kegs ended up on the playing field - then it's just complete chaos! There are a few players that actually know their stuff but I imagine you have to have a proper rig and connection to excel at this game! Another funny moment I had was when soloing in Gandaran Fields: In one town the bandits come and torch the whole place, we drove them off and started putting out fires. There was an Asura among us and for some reason about 6 people (including me) decided that it was time to drench the little feller a bit... 6 guys with water buckets chasing an Asura - I still can't control my laughter just thinking about it. The poor guy tried every means of escape but ended up wet for about 5 minutes!
  2. This weekend sounds like a plan. Getting all together online at the same moment is the tricky bit, but let's entertain the thought.
  3. meteors? well, I suppose it could be viewed as that... or an upside down scratching bear claw :cha (18):
  4. WvW is lots of fun, but a little nasty for close combat, I find myself in the midst of battle a lot and my ranged team mates running to maintain distance. Then it's basically a matter of seconds and I'm down... and, Chrona, I've encountered a necro or two in WvW and it really does feel like a lost cause if the player knows his way around a little. But then again, one of my only 2 kills was a necro (which I caught a little unawares) My personal story took me to a waaay out location and I had to track through the char zones barely managing to stay alive... but on my way there, I thought I'd stop by the Ascalon Catacombs for a "quick" story mode... 1st thing I noticed are all the people standing around trying to form parties... seems like people are very picky, or there were a number of 3 man teams waiting for 2 more... something like that. In any event, I joined a party and it was a LOT tougher than I imagined! We managed to kill (as far as I know) just about every boss, except the Lovers... there was no real team strategy and one player insisted that we trap one in a corridor and close the doors. We tried over and over and over, but to no avail. Then one of the members left the party and we were stuck with 4 of which one was the guy who was in charge of the door. That leaves 3 to try and separate and trap, with your's truly designated as the front man. No success, and the servers were rebooted. My next attempt will hopefully be with the guild so that we can use C3 and communicate a strategy. But I realized that we'd need buffs, lots of buffs and thus I started an alt which will be doing some cooking to give us that little edge (hopefully).
  5. heh, thanks Lujate. I'll deposit what I can. Strangely enough - I also started an alt for cooking... But it's very costly! looks like most of the ingredients are bought at the cooking vendors. My main reason for cooking is to invest in some dyes, since my main is really struggling to find dye drops! And then there is the buffs to be had... but I'll explain in another thread.
  6. I cleared the low level jewels and food out of the bank, auctioned and deposited the proceeds back into the guild bank. I know that lujate is too high level for the jewels, but I did not see any chefs in our guild so I spent the food stuffs. I have many more to deposit (low level jewels and food stuffs), so just lemme know what you need. Sry if this caused in inconvenience, but there just was no more room left!
  7. Hi Steve - having coffee right now! You've been away for a little while?
  8. I have an ATI card and I updated drivers about a week ago but I regularly have to adjust gfx options when my frame rate drops. I had to turn basically everything right down when we fought this boss. I wish AMD would release a driver specifically suited for this game like NVIDIA did. Here is a screen shot just to show the size of the boss! That's me there by the arrow:
  9. yeah we were both online, but the mail worked later. I think maybe it was off for just a moment there, or as Lujate suggested - it could be a US vs EU server thing...
  10. So I'm hanging around the swamps for I dunno how many hours these past few days. Waiting, waiting, waiting for the swamp not to be dormant. Doing this, doing that in and around the swamps, but nothing... Then Wygram came online and I spent a little time running around with him and getting involved in an event that never done before (the skritt comin' to steal stuff and then we blew up their cave). That was lots of fun and I tried my hand at giving as much protection as possible. Dunno if I succeeded, 'cause the next thing I know, Waygram was on the floor... but we managed to push on and complete the event! Then, suddenly, the map chat reveals that the swamp meta event started!! I was so overjoyed I could barely get there fast enough! So a TON of players get involved and the Shadow Beheamoth finally spawns!! A real tough battle and people are dropping like flies all over, but I manage to stay alive and smash portals. Things are going well and I get more and more excited as we bring the monster's health down pixel by pixel. About 20% life left and KABOOOM, my pc crashed... I can only guess from overheating... So while rebooting seconds feel like hours... when my pc is finally ready to go and the game is loaded I'm thinking that I might just see the end of the fight if I'm real lucky, but... alas.... I joined in the overflow server and there goes all hope out the window. I guess I should be grateful that my laptop actually still works, since it was a kinda nasty sound it made (like a loud "CLICK"), but just 10 more minutes - just 10 more and THEN crash. Please man... sheeesh... So I guess I better go to some merchant and see if I can purchase a lawn chair and get all comfy next to the swamp until next time...
  11. leave Lujate behind? Is he a huuuuuge norn? not able to fit through the narrow nooks and crannies?
  12. I just tried send mail to Chrona, but got the message "user not found" or something like that... he got the same message when trying to send me mail... so I guess it remains to be seen if the in-game mail is gonna be fully functional this weekend...
  13. From my viewpoint, I don't think we should go with 1, but not really with 3 either. I think we should take a casual approach as Kiyeri stated and that is: if we run into somebody that we connect with and think would be an asset to the guild and appears to adhere to our expectations in conduct then sure, ask them if they want to join! I see a lot of players not representing a guild and it would be great to get a few members on the EU time zone.
  14. that first link starts: I beg to differ.... try thousands of hours for most peeps here!
  15. jeepers - that's a whole lot of info! Nice catch DB!
  16. My goal this weekend, or perhaps even tonight if time allows, is to get to face the Shadow Behemoth in the Godlost swamp in Queensdale. What the wiki says I spent a lot of time there and never really got the boss to spawn, but I did not follow the wiki as a guide and just kinda hoped that if I hang around long enough, he might just spawn. While in an overflow server a day or so ago the event went over to the "Underworld forces have been spotted outside the swamp" stage, but stupidly I joined the "real" server when prompted the question and still being new to the game, I did not realize that I just aborted the meta event at it's current progression! I also want to see if I can complete one or two jumping puzzles in Kryta. This interactive map is the only map so far I found that shows the location of jumping puzzles (spoiler alert) and IMO the best map I found. It's still in beta testing so I'm not 100% sure about the accuracy.
  17. looks like in-game mail will be up today (or hopefully over the weekend): http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/z3qqm/guild_wars_2_status_thursday_august_30/
  18. looks awesome!! It looks totally 3D to me - that 1st one is kinda panned down and the last one is slightly zoomed in? The lighting in the 1st one looks amazing on the clouds there in the background!
  19. and.... I'm in! I spent about 30 minutes in game last night (well early this morning) just to get acquainted, but I fear there's lots to learn still. I'm now level 5 and navigating around Divinity's Reach. Overall I'm glad, happy, satisfied, overjoyed, addicted and gaming-gaming-gaming! EDIT: I tried a bit of WvW a little while ago, but green just dominates the entire map! We (a group of about 10 players) managed to take one tower and a supply depot before we were wiped out of existence! Just such a totally one sided affair at the moment - but I hope to get more play time in when the servers are better balanced. Even though we were just dominated by green, there were still some fun moments and my heart was racing the entire time I stepped outside the warmth and comfort of our home base...
  20. nice find Toby! including a Sacred novel and a... radioplay:) Rather a serious statement calling it a Diablo 3 killer! Putting Sacred right in the centre of the map with a spotlight (and a disco ball) there!
  21. Just one final pass then with neutral colours : But the sword and purple flames look good. I'm easy, really. I suppose it can be changed later if there are more options coming out?
  22. yeah - I dunno when the discs were burned, but there were a ton of updates within the past month or so... but I'll be completing my download tonight after 12pm and be in-game tomorrow! until then, I better get a whole lot of work done today to free up some time tomorrow!
  23. just got my GW2 box! There were installation CDs (not just a client exe), but after the installation there remains about 61K files to download (patches). The shop owner said it's about an additional 10Gb download. I'll purchase an additional bit of bandwidth and hope I get all done and start playing tomorrow. I'm reminded a little about the Sacred 2 collectors edition I got in the post: got home all excited, installed the game only to find that it was totally unplayable on my low end desktop... I was degraded to looking at the art bboklet and listening to the music CD! With my GW2 box sitting here on my desk, I can only stare at the pictures and study the quick reference card. I know, it's sad But I will definitely be in the game on Saturday. tik.... tok.... tik.... tok... ♫♪ tiiiiiiiiime is (not) in my side, no it aint ♫♪.
