  1. I was a little disappointed in the Elder Scrolls Anthology. I wanted full install CD/DVDs but the package only contains Steam installers for the later games. That being said, I have been playing a lot of Skyrim again. There is a website that has literally thousands of Mods that will work with the Steam installation of Skyrim. It's the Nexus mods and community website.
  2. It might help us to help you if you would list not only your system specs but also exactly what the problem is and when it occurs. It's been years since I last played Sacred 2 but there are many on here who know quite a bit about how it works and how to get the most out of it. Welcome to Dark Matters!
  3. He's part of the reason I'm still here. [Added] Not necessarily true. [Added2] What was initially a joksters "death hoax" has unfortunately come true. I am still alive today partially due to him ... I wish he were.
  4. Did you take a close look at the Medication?
  5. I suffer from an extreme case of CRS. The polite form is "Can't Remember ... Stuff". I'm on medication. A picture of the bottle and some of the "capsules" appear below. It's so bad, I can't even remember if I posted in here or not!
  6. I got 64 GB because I never planned on doing more than using it as a cell phone but wanted a little room for expansion, just in case. Good thing since I'm now loaded down with jigsaw puzzles ... Wouldn't you know that my house is in a dead zone. If I want to use the phone I used to have to step outside and shift around until I could get enough signal strength to make a call! I complained about it and they gave me a signal repeater which hooks into my LAN. Now I can sit in my dungeon which is basically a Faraday Cage and get 5 bars of signal strength.
  7. An iphone 6? ... No, an iPhone 6P, as in plus, with the 5.5" display. I have fat-fingers and need the extra real estate. I finally found a use for my iPhone BTW. I have started solving jigsaw puzzles on it. Really useful. For the amount I'm paying for the phone, I could have bought out a stores entire stock of jigsaw puzzles!
  8. I recently got an iPhone 6P and still don't really know why. The default data plan was a TerraByte/ month which I quickly decreased to 500 GB since I don't really plan to use Phone data services. I've hardly used it at all since I got it. Oh, the most calls I've received so far (by number of calls) are from spammers and Telemarketers. I had a cell phone years ago and never really used it, why did I think anything had changed now?
  9. I have been trying for many years to understand Human humor and found something that I was sure would be appreciated by others but cannot find where to post. I thought I would ask in such a way that others could ask where to post their undefined topics as well. Where can I post jokes, puns, and general humor? .
  10. We haven't had a land-line for years. We use VOIP and get unlimited North American and European calls for about $30/month. Of course the line is tied to our Internet connection, so it isn't "mobile" but I have no desire to be "connected" 24/7.
  11. Yeah, I had an idea that wouldn't work. I guess I will have to install my copy of Sacred 2 (non-Gold) to see if we can connect. ... or I could get her to purchase a copy of Sacred 2 Gold from Gog ...
  12. Thanks. Will I be able to easily remove v1.50 if I want to play a game with someone without the patch? My daughter has Sacred 2 on her PS3 and we thought we would try to link up.
  13. I finally got Sacred 2 Gold (purchased from Amazon.com before I found out that the Gog version would help Unbended) to install to my Windows 8.1 system by using Windows Vista compatibility mode. Now I'm looking at the community patch but find it a little confusing. Which patch should I get for a new install? Version 1.40hf is talked about in this topic but there is also a Version 1.50 talked about elsewhere. Which one should I download? Once I install the Mod, is there an easy way to regress to just Sacred 2 without the Mod. I tried following some of the links to the Sacred 2 Reset Tool but get a File not found error.
  14. Virtual Reality? Isn't Actual Reality bad enough!?
  15. Well, My new system has been up and running now for a while. Unfortunately my old system now fails to boot. I have purchased an external harddrive docking station and am now happily transferring information into my new computer. I also got a second docking station because I want to be able to transfer to/from my supply of IDE drives. Since I don't have any memory card readers, I got a Rosewill 40-in-1 USB 2.0 3.5" Internal Card Reader to make it easier to transfer images from digital cameras. I still have a lot of digital pictures on floppy disk, so thought an external 3.5" FFD woud be handy, especially since it will also work with my iMac. I expect to get a lot of initial use out of it but then expect it to collect a lot of dust. Too bad my old computer bit the dust. I already had a data sharing cable and could have just connected the two computers together to make a transfer. Apparently the motherboard failed on the old computer. What I spent was a lot cheaper than a new motherboard. How fast is the new system? Before my new video card, I was getting about 4.2 GHz sustained. With the new video card I happened to see a peak of 4.7 GHz and it's capable of driving 3 different monitors at the same time.
  16. Not trying to be cocky, just trying to have a sense of humor which is hard for a Vulcan. I don't really appreciate the implication that I don't care what others in here say. If I didn't value the opinions given in here, why would I bother to ask ... when I ask. In the case of the computer and the video card, I wasn't asking. I've already ordered the card and it has shipped, so it's too late to stop it from arriving. The 970 does look good comparatively but it is a little slower and the biggest focus for me on this system was speed. Is the extra speed worth the $229 price difference? I won't know until I have a chance to try both cards. Since I don't envision getting a chance to try both cards, I feel I'm going to have to keep the card that I already purchased ... unless something is wrong with it when it gets here. At that point, I may opt for the less expensive card. I guess it's my own fault. I did ask for a high-end recommendation, and the 980 is currently the top of the line. Guess it might have paid to do as much research on the card as I did on the system. Remembering how much trouble I've had with the system to get it to even run, I might also be wrong there. In any case, I appreciate the information about the 970 but it was too late when I posted, so it's definitely too late now.
  17. I want to get Far Cry 4 but there is apparently no way to select the game when ordering. I now find myself needing some help from as many members here who are willing to help with the research. I need an external USB 3.0 or faster Docking Port for one or more harddrives. It should accept both 2.5" and 3.5" drives and also accept IDE, SATA, and anything else they want to throw in. It should run with any windows from XP through 8.1, but must run at least with Windows 7 and 8 as well as Mas OS X. I want it so I can use some of my older harddrives as hot pluggable backup cartridges for my computers. It would be useful if I could use it to help salvage information off drives for others as well. I've tried to find exactly what I want but the claims often aren't born out by the reviews. A couple I've looked at: Amazon.com Cable Matters: Pros: Fast, works with all the OS's I want, Plug and play, Hot-Swappable Cons: Not compatible with IDE drives, single station (dual station costs almost twice as much) Amazon IDE HDD Docking Station: Pros: Supports both IDE and SATA drives, OS support Cons: Not very fast (USB 2.0, only supports up to SATA II) Amazon Sabrent USB 3.0 to SATA Dual Bay External Hard Drive Docking Station: Pros: Speed, drive sizes, OS Cons: No IDE I looked at many, many more but none I looked at seemed to do everything I wanted, so I thought I would ask for help in here. I looked in other places than Amazon as well but thought I would just give some examples from there so you would know what I'm looking for. Who knows, this may prove useful to a lot of other members as well because it just isn't feasible to use optical media for backup any more. Even using Blu-ray at 25 GB per disk would take more disks and time than I want to think about to back up even only a 2 TB drive! With a docking station I could swap in and out a series of same sized drives used as stand-alone cartridges and have several full backups in case of disaster ... or just stupidity.
  18. I wouldn't know, it was recommended to me by one of the OEM's Techs. Surely they wouldn't lie to me or give me false information just to get me to buy their game would they!? I wonder if I return the game if I get to keep the video card?
  19. I am getting the feeling that the on-board graphics of this new system just aren't cutting it either, so I ordered a new game. It was kind of expensive but it comes with a free video card.
  20. So true. I was trying to play Skyrim but the on-board video kept going intermittently black. I could still hear the audio but the video was really flaky. What there was of it was phenomenal but it wouldn't stay.
  21. Don't forget, I'm running an Intel chip on this beast though I'm using the on-board graphics at the moment, so may have to get a video card in order to play the game. I am anxious to get Sacred 2 and all the community Mod installed as well as see how Skyrim plays on this machine compared to my old one. Guess I will have lots to keep me busy if I can't play DA: I right away.
  22. Since our baby daughter is the one who talked me into Windows 8, I can't really hate (or even dislike) her, so will have to settle for hating Windows which is so easy to do. I have taken some time out from playing with my new system to clear out enough room to incorporate it in my dungeon. Once so incorporated, I plan on installing as many of my old games as will work on it as well as a few new ones. I picked up Dragon Age: Inquisition over Black Friday and also got the Elder Scrolls Anthology (all 5 games with all DLCs!) for a whooping $14.95!
  23. I'm not really all that concerned about the speaker. It's one of those tiny little things that goes beep when something goes wrong. If it never works, it won't bother me. The system has 7.1 surround sound available and I'm going to beat my head against the wall over a tiny little speaker!? What's more annoying is Windows 8.1. I decided to move the system to where I could run an Ethernet cable to it to get on the Internet to upgrade drivers, register software, etc. Since it was near my 42" LED TV, I also decided to use the HDMI video output instead of the VGA. Wouldn't you know that totally confused Windows and it went so far as to fail completely! I really HATE Windows and am now wondering what caused my failure of good judgement to make me think I wanted a new Windows system. I have stopped working on the system for now after getting it working again. I am in my dungeon trying to clear a space for the new system so I can not only get it set up where it's supposed to live but have it closer to the Internet connection and the old computer I plan to transfer data from. There isn't all that much data to transfer, mainly a few small game Mod files. All my main documents are on my Mac.
  24. The MB came back on the 26th but I refrained from trying to put anything together until we returned from visiting our daughter. I finally started putting everything together last night and finished up today. We have lift-off! The new board is working and I am even now installing Windows 8.1 (I know, I was going to use Windows 7 but SOMEONE talked me into using Windows 8 ). The onboard VGA connector is working just fine for the install but I may try to find an HDMI monitor to use with the onboard HDMI connector for better graphics. Once I transfer everything I want from my old Windows XP system, I will probably move the nVidia graphics card over as well ... if I need it. I added a serial port (DB-9 connector) to the back as there was a Com port available. There was also a speaker output, so I added a speaker. Haven't heard a peep out of it yet, so it may have been a futile attempt to add everything I could. There are two USB 2.0 ports on the MB and only one is being used, so I may find an extra USB connector and cable lying around just to have it if I need them. Each connector gives two USB ports. There are only 6 SATA connectors but 10 internal and 3 external bays. Will have to see if I need more than 6 ports. If I do, I'm sure I can add more using an interface card. I am a bit excited (as if you couldn't tell) and must go back up to see how the install is progressing. [Added] Well I spoke too soon. The computer is working just fine. Now I'm having problems with the Bloated OS. Why did I ever decide to go back to Windows!?
