Riding Skill

I see a lot of posts for builds were the prefered skill pick is Riding Skill or say EP or other. I'm looking at putting EP on my Shadow Warrior and Riding is a 1st tier for EP. What good is riding unless you choose a horse for a mount. I see from posts it can improve regen penalties for Unique mounts but is there any other benefits that are not listed in the skill page?

I think it's all what you've said,

 

If you're planning on using your unique mount it is always recommended to pick Riding if you have a slot free, if you're planning on using a horse the skill is mandatory.

I took Riding once, and always regretted doing so.

 

I don't like it all that much, but I guess that's personal.

the increased speed of your mount that you get for riding mastery is the only way to increase the speed of your unique mount (or a horse).
