Unplayable Frame Rate - Help please ? (XBOX360)

Recommended Posts

Okay, so far I've been playing this game just fine for about 9 hours in total... just now I've loaded my save game, and the frame rate is beyond playable... it's like 1-2 frames per second, literally... I've tried walking away, and it's going so slowly that the map doesn't even load up... what the frig? My other games work fine... Is this a common problem on the 360 version? Because I have never encountered anything as bad as this on a console in my life... I spent money on a game I can no longer play... good work devs, I'm thinking I might post the disk to them with the receipt and ask for my money back... this is hopeless.

Welcome to the forum iddqd!

We have a decent, busy console community here... hopefully in a bit, some of them will see your topic and be able to offer some advice.

There's been some posts about different issues, maybe take a look through topics and see if there was some trouble shooting that can help?

Cheers

:)

I've been googling for a while now, and my problem is not a "frame rate issue"... it's the game slowing down to one or two frames per second... I've had it up to my eyeballs, the game has a bad frame rate when it's running normally (20-30 frames), but this has nothing to do with that, this isn't playable at all...

Like gogo said we got a great community here and hopefully someone will be able to help out.

Unfortunately I only have the pc version. But I was wondering if this only happens with your saved character? Can you make a new one and see what happens? Seen several threads about corrupted saves and while I hope that isn't the issue it might explain it. Especially if the new toon doesn't have the fps drop-off

p.s. welcome to the forum :)

No corrupt save... and I tried making a new character, and it worked fine... then I went back to the old one and it's going again. It's the weirdest thing though, because usually in Sacred 2 it's a little choppy when you first load up, but then it just goes normal, this time it stayed choppy... It was like I was trying to run it on a ten year old PC, but it was on the 360... oh well, I'm 100% positive that it's going to come back to haunt me again, but it's working for now... operative: FOR NOW... god this game is dodgy. I hate it when problems fix themselves, and and you don't know how long it will last :) Thanks anyway

Welcome iddqd,

There are several of use that play or played consoles that are regular posters here on FDM. the issue corrected itself when you started a new Char? Interesting. For 1 thing if you didn't already know, Sacred 2 online is dependent on it's connection to the Servers. Sometimes the connection is a real bear. this may have created an issue with your save that cleared itself when you started a new Char.

You will see from posts here that there are a few buggy Combat arts that will cause you some grief if you don't know about them. Check the bugs thread for those. I don't think that has anything to do with your problem since you are only 9 hours into a Char.

Lastly when things seem to get buggy. exit and restart. the old saying for PC's definitely goes for the xbox in this case, as Sacred2 was a rushed and slightly bugged port from the PC world. Also worth a try is to Clear the Game Cache. you can do this by going into your Settings menu:Memory:HDD and at the bottom of the screen is and option to reset cache. If you are online it will reload the live update for Sacred2 that is mandatory for Xbox live. I have also seen my char go Wacko in the Char Select menu. and Reseting solved the problem.

Hope you have many hours of gaming with us and please post back and let us know how you are doing.

I'm sure Locolagarto is posting at this moment but my two cents. I've played the console version for around 1000+ hrs and what I've found was:

The game is very buggy, granted but it is totally playable. After a bit ya get used to things. Once you find a "normal" anything out of the ordinary you need to restart the game. Usually this fixes the current issue. Also run with your damage numbers up so you can see what kind of damage your doing. When you notice that its not the same, Restart. Every time you change equipment that changes your stats, Restart. This way those changes take effect. Read runes, swap weapons anything usually needs a restart. At low level you really dont notice these issues with equipment/runes/ attribute changes but at high level you will. It got to the point for me that I didn't even think about it anymore I would just do it. Not once did it stop me from playing the game.

Also since you have just started give the game a chance to win you over this usually takes maybe 15-20 levels then you start seeing to light at the end of the tunnel so to speak. Feel free to keep asking questions, no worries here I'll help anyway I can.

Okay, thanks guys... I don't think the solution was as much creating a new character (I actually signed out of my live account to do this, so I didn't over wright my save or anything) as it was just quitting out and going back in... although I tried that a few times with no effect. And as for the online mode crapping out... I was just playing the campaign? As I said, it wasn't like lag, it was like trying to run, say Crysis at max settings on a five year old PC... slideshow. I'm thinking this game might be worth getting again on PC, but I really only got it because I specifically wanted something to grind some hours away on the 360. Anyway, fingers crossed it'll stay fixed... Got Sacred 2 on release (console release at least) and I haven't really gotten into it, then I got distracted by other games... so I'll stick around on the forums for a while.

Edit: Oh and to save me wasting another thread, there's a zombie-thing that follows me everywhere... I think I picked him up on a quest very early on in the game, but I either failed or just didn't finish the quest, because he is with me at all times now and it's really giving me the FECAL MATTER!s. I looked through my early quest logs, and it looks like I finished all the escorting type quests... so is this another *sigh* bug or did I miss something? He doesn't do anything, doesn't attack, take damage from anything, etc... he's just my zombie buddy -_-
