Bought the game Sunday! Wow

Hello all,

I really started getting into RPG's on the original XBOX with Morrowind. I have advanced from there to the 360 with Oblivion, Dragon Age etc.

These were all fun and enjoyable games but I was looking for something new and that is when I stumbled upon this game. I have to say this is probably the most fun I have ever had with an RPG. The world is so frickin huge and the characters depth is fantastic.

I started out as a shadow warrior and I think I have really screwed up his builds. I have picked whatever new skills willy nilly with out any thought. I stumbled across this forum today and I realised that every decision about building your character is crucial in your success.

I have noticed that in certain areas where there are loads of those small goblin creatures that if I am on my own I usually will die when I run out of health potions. The only way I will live is if I summon those 4 skeleton scouts. I have read a few of the guys but can someone direct me to some simple choices and ideas on what to do? This game is amazing but really complicated.

Thanks again for the forums and I am so pumped to have found Sacred 2!

Heya,

Skeleton scouts? Nether Allegiance buff right?

Are you using the Grim Resilience Buff? This grant lots of bonus hitpoints. Also might try Reflective Emanation as a buff, for it reflects damage to opponents.

Welcome Scott!, We are all glad to see you on board the Dark Train!

I am not a big Shadow Warrior player. (Not that there is anything wrong with em) so I hesitate to point you to a certain build guide as I haven't done many of them.

From my personal experience with most of the classes, there a a few skills that seem to be universally "neccesary".

not in any order:

1. Armor_Lore for Regen times and ability to wear higher level armor

2. Tactics_Lore for weapon damage multiplier and chance for criticals

3. constitution add HP and HP regen

4. Concentration for running multiple buffs, and Regen times.

5. Aspect focus for regen times and Combat Art focus level you can choose up to 3 focus skills but doing so will compicate your build( better left for later when you learn more of the games secrets)

6. Weapon skill for execution speed and attack speed. choose only 1 weapon skill as they do not stack.

there are as many ways to employ these skills as there are players in this game. So don't think that there is only 1 best way to build a char. But your first observation is a good one. the characters and builds are what this game is all about.

Regen penalties from Combat Art levels, and Armor are a major balancing act. If your getting swarmed and killed my Kobalds I am betting that proper attention to these skills as well as your Buffs will help a ton.

And don't think that restarting a char is a bad thing. I have scraped a lot of builds because I didn't like some choice I made early on.

For a bunch of builds look here: Builds and guides.

And for all the info you could imagine about sacred 2 look at the wiki here: SacredWiki

Thanks for all the help guys. This game rocks. It is not healthy when 4 hours disappear and you have no idea where they went. My wife isn't to pleased when I go into the abyss of Sacred 2.

I can't believe I missed out on this game. When I first started playing it I was a bit skeptical because of the graphics and character voice overs. But after 3 days I have to say the rich design of the world along with the cool quests, character building and great NPC's this game really delivers.

Again, thank you for the help on where to look and get a better understanding of the game. I feel like I have just scratched the surface.

Heh.... abyss... what time is it? Work in 3 hours? :D

Glad to hear you're enjoying this game! Using the wiki for the first little while was a little confusing for me, but if you just type what you want to know about in the search engine, a lot of the wonderful info that is in there comes to the surface!

Be prepared to "re-roll" many, many times if you're the perfectionist type... Some of the choices in customizing your characters can go wrong, since Platinum and Niob difficulties (especially Niob) are rather unforgiving. Gold is a nicely balanced difficulty, IMO.

Oh, and welcome! 8)

The best way to learn what skills are most useful for your style of playing, is by just creating a few (or several) different characters and trying them out. That's what I've done. I've probably logged in the neighborhood of 300 or more hours with this game, and played around with at least 20 different characters. Granted, I abandoned most of those characters before they got higher than level 10, but playing with them for awhile was a great way to see what works and what doesn't. Oh, and by the way, even after all this time with the game, I still love it, there are still achievements I haven't managed to earn, and portions of the map I've never explored. This game has nearly endless replay value. Welcome to the party!
