SecretKobold 2 Popular Post Posted July 19, 2014 Hi all! I'm approaching level 50 and the end of silver difficulty with my highest level character, a melee Seraphim, and am faced with 2 more skill choices. So far: Armor Lore Toughness Warding Energy Lore Concentration Exalted Warrior Focus Revered Tech Focus Tactics Lore Sword Weapons So... will the E shield + Toughness stay strong enough without Spell Resistance, given a otherwise decently built character? Otherwise I'm thinking Enhanced Perception will be the 10th skill. If It's possible to avoid Spell Resistance, I will choose between Damage Lore and Combat Discipline, leaning towards the latter as I make good use of Assailing Somersault paired with either of the other 2 melee arts. BTW, it took the recent Steam 80% off sale for me to discover Sacred 2... and wow- this game has some of the most consistently beautiful and varied music, art design, philosophy, and graphics I've seen (I avoid zooming in too close!). I find the mechanics to be interesting and satisfying... though some of the melee combat interactions could have used more work. Here's to those formerly at Ascaron , may they succeed in their latest endeavours! 2
Dragon Brother 620 Posted July 19, 2014 I'd say you'll be fine. Armour lore and toughness do wonders together and energy shield will definitely be enough to cover anything else. And yep, it's definitely a great game. Heaps of depth which is why we all kept coming back for so long!
SecretKobold 2 Author Posted July 19, 2014 I will confidently proceed without Spell Resistance! Thanks. I wonder if there is any point in using the "spell resistance" item modifier if one does not have the skill? The info on the wiki suggests to me that the numbers required to actually exceed same level monsters' spell intensity are not achieveable without the skill (maybe stacking willpower makes it possible... with a Shadow Warrior or Dragon Mage), and that the spell resistance stat has absolutely no effect if it does not surpass the intensity of opponents. True?
lujate 578 Posted July 19, 2014 My Divine Protection seraphim got along just fine without Spell Resistance. She laughed off the Eyes in the Cursed Forest and the Demon Mages in the Wastelands, even the dreaded red-flash bug in the Crystal Planes. My energy shield-less seraphim on the other hand, had a number of close calls even with mastered Spell Resistance.
SecretKobold 2 Author Posted July 20, 2014 Nice. I'm using DP only as a backup... and haven't had to use it since stumbling upon the Demon arena quest on Seraphim Isl, before I had decent armor. Still, choosing vitality at every level has payed off several times...
