kidakaze 1 Share Posted December 13, 2016 I recently found my old copy of Sacred 2:Fallen Angel in some stuff that I thought got left behind when we moved a couple years ago, and today I decided to install it on my Win7 for a nostalgia trip. So I put it in, went through the pre-installation checklisty junk, and then when it got to the actual installation, it sat there for about 30 minutes doing absolutely nothing before spitting out a "cyclic redundancy check" error. I thought maybe I hit a button I shouldnt have, so I tried it a couple more times with the same result. I really want to get back into this game, but Google only gives me extremely confusing answers for the Steam version of Gold Edition. Any idea what's going on? Link to comment
Gilberticus 374 Share Posted December 13, 2016 Did you use a test like SMART or memtest86? I am not a computer tech, and I haven't heard of CRC errors in years, but from what I remember, CRC errors have something to do with bad RAM. 1 Link to comment
Androdion 899 Share Posted December 14, 2016 I believe some other users had a similar problem, in that they couldn't install FA from the original DVD. Ask Flix, I think he was one of them. Link to comment
kidakaze 1 Author Share Posted December 14, 2016 (edited) I dont know how to go about testing my ram, but the game ran fine on a much older Win7 so that could be the problem Edit: tried it again, and as soon as I posted this, some green showed up on the status bar. Guess the comp just needed a good rest, but ill keep an eye on it Edited December 14, 2016 by kidakaze 1 Link to comment
Codex 10 Share Posted December 16, 2016 CRC errors are not ram related, they are hard drive related, if you are getting them then you may have bad sectors on your hard drive. Try running CHKDSK utility to isolate these sectors. http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Cyclic-Redundancy-Check-Error 1 Link to comment
