  1. New Year's has always been a fairly low-key holiday for me, although lots of people in the US do a lot of partying. Traditionally, I have sat around at home watching DVDs with friends, and falling asleep, usually long before midnight. For the last few years my wife and I have traveled to my in-laws, run a 5K in the evening, and then gone to the "First Night" celebrations -- including ice sculptures, ice skating, and stuff. I lived 40 miles (65 km) from New York City for a long time, and never made it down to Times Square. Too many people. I suspect no oGame for me, wife would not be too pleased, and my online times would be too unpredicatable to keep my fleet safe.
  2. Check out this massive hit in Uni 5: 1,335,808,000 [DF] ADDAR vs [Grudge] Braveheart Now THAT is what a goodbye hit is supposed to look like! Check out the bomber and destroyer numbers <shivers>.

  5. Thanks. I'm increasing a lot of ship counts right now. Got shipyards on 5 planets producing as fast as they can. RIP #11 just showed up and # 12 will be here in a few days. I'm increasing bombers to 100, recyclers to 1500, and rebuilding LFs. I may get more HF one of these days, I just don't know. Decisions, decisions. And I put aside res to get a Nanite on one last planet, as soon as it stops building ships.
  6. They come for the cool smilies, but they stay for the good company. Welcome Jen/Trillain. Enjoy all of the cool stuff on DarkMatters.
  7. Hmmmm, a difficult call. I always posted ninjas in the hopes that people would think twice about attacking me. This has been a fairly successful strategy. After my last double attack on Sphenodon (of 5 total: 5% 14% 20% RIP kill, 9%, 5%) he attacked my only un-mooned colonies for a loss. He didn't even probe my moons. Of course, this does limit, to some extent, future ninja possibilities. But some people take it as a challenge. A number of top players scanned my planets/moons during the SoS Wars after I posted my 5th ninja. It is certainly a good way to show what you're made of, get respect, show off your fleet. Up to you, just my thoughts.

  10. Cheers! First round's on me. Very nice work. Keep it up!
  11. Very nice Dan! See? Once you start, you can't stop. You need more, and More, and MORE, and M-O-R-E!! <pant><pant> Is there a story? What is up with the failed ninja?

  13. Yeah, who are you? j/k I've seen you about on the boards now and again, and one of your planets is near me in G5. In fact, if I remember correctly, I may have even sent my welcome wagons over to say "Hi!" once. Well, welcome to Dark Matters.
  14. Greetings and/or Salutations! Welcome to DarkMatters. Enjoy all it has to offer. Like whipping the fairy. What:)
  15. Right now I can only go up against about 10K-15K RL/LL with assorted Capital Ships or Heavy defenses. And even then, I can only chip away at them. Iused to have the make up of Sphenddon's fleet, but can't find it anymore.
  16. Actually, I've been trying to get him to send those to my G5 moon. 17. Very well done GoGo, congratulations! I just passed 500K, so I won't be up to 1 MM for at least another few weeks. I think you are deserving of a Million-Point Haiku! Congrats to GoGo, Leader of the Fellowship, We all think you rock!

  19. Hmmmmmm . . . Achievements: 1. Joining D.a.r.k.! 2. Spanking Sphenodon . . . three times. 3. Having gotten where I am without an alliance (gravitron, 4 JGs, 5 moons, 11 RIPs [soon] and a 300 MM fleet). Worst Moments: 1. Getting HoF-ed (Beowulf crashed my first Gravitron fiasco as well as 1/3 of my first-ever moonshot) 2. Getting my cargos and recs phalanxed by MoreBeer . . . not a good feeling to watch those ships coming and knowing you can't do anything about it. 3. Lossing all of my fleets, most of my buildings, and most of my research due to a system bug when I was trying to build my first JG . . . which I had to build three times due to the server move. The rest came back after two days, although Revenge 9 swiped 500K res when I had no fleets to defend myself or move anything.

3:88:4? He seems to come online around 17:00-18:00 and be online for a few hours. He is often online around 04:00, but does not seem to normally be around between 12:00-16:00. I noticed when I hit his RIP that a * came up on his main planet (1:496:10) when he came online. I hit him at 04:45 today and he came online around 05:30. Last time I hit him around 17:00 and he was online. I hit him the first time around 14:00 and he was not online for several more hours. This week he probed me at 20:24 and 11:26. He has planets with moons at: With Jumpgates - 1:234:13 1:496:10 2:236:6 3:88:4 5:204:7 8:148:7 Without jumpgate - 5:210:8 The first time he tried to ninja me he jumped between 30 seconds and 5 seconds. When I hit his RIP he tried to jump in less than 5 seconds and blew it.

Yeah, looks like he is concerned about that. There is nothing to speak of on my G8 planets. Not even enough between them to get a decent moonchance. He didn't even bother to probe my moons, 'cause he would either have to send a major portion of his fleet for a ton of deut, or I would probably crush him.
  22. Well, I got a little bored and thought "I wonder who has too much res?" Of course, Sphenodon immediately came to mind. I have been probed by Sphenodon or Urkhai, or both, every day since I got back from (v) mode, but nothing in the last day or so. Well, I figured I'd see if I could get their attention . . . Round 1 - At 12-01 04:47:31 the following fleets met in battle: Attacker Ike (5:254:7) Weapons: 120% Shields: 130% Armour: 120% Battleship 30 (Lost 9) Defender Sphenodon (5:210:8) Weapons: 150% Shields: 150% Armour: 150% Battleship 10 (Lost 10) Recycler 33 (Lost 33) The attacker has won the battle! He captured 10,500 metal, 10,500 crystal, and 10,500 deuterium The attacker lost a total of 540,000 units. The defender lost a total of 1,128,000 units. At these space coordinates now float 327,000 metal and 173,400 crystal. The chance for a moon to be created is 5% OK, so I should have sent more battleships. Live and/or learn. Followups: The attacker has won the battle! He captured 113,180 metal, 47,372 crystal, and 118,338 deuterium The attacker has won the battle! He captured 56,597 metal, 23,690 crystal, and 59,171 deuterium Round 2 - Attacker Ike (5:254:7) Weapons: 120% Shields: 130% Armour: 120% Cruisers 200 (Lost 0) Defender Sphenodon (5:204:7) Weapons: 150% Shields: 150% Armour: 150% Light Fighter 711 (Lost 711) Solar Satelite 200 (Lost 200) The attacker has won the battle! He captured 53,333 metal, 53,333 crystal, and 53,333 deuterium The attacker lost a total of 0 units. The defender lost a total of 3,244,000 units. At these space coordinates now float 639,900 metal and 333.300 crystal. The chance for a moon to be created is 9% That was a little better! Followups: The attacker has won the battle! He captured 253,142 metal, 122,912 crystal, and 37,469 deuterium The attacker has won the battle! He captured 126,564 metal, 61,466 crystal, and 18,738 deuterium The attacker has won the battle! He captured 63,275 metal, 30,742 crystal, and 9,373 deuterium Round 3 - Additional followups on his jumpgated moon: The attacker has won the battle! He captured 403 metal, 7,690 crystal, and 162,775 deuterium The attacker has won the battle! He captured 201 metal, 3,845 crystal, and 81,388 deuterium Summary: Resource captures (minus losses): 317,645 metal, 181,550 crystal, and 551,085 deuterium Debris (all accounted for, although it took some time): 966,900 metal and 506,700 crystal He is now attacking my un-mooned colonies in G8 with 200 BS and 200 Destroyers.
