  1. I have never been able to play a Starcraft match properly. I really suck at strategy, even though I love games like that. I'm always more occupied by placing the buildings of my base and the line up of soldiers. The fighting and rushing usually ends my reign of terrible symmetry. "Don't even think about attacking me, or you'll be petrified by my astonishing and well-designed base" -.-
  2. Actually, 36 gigabyte is excactly the amount of GB "lost" in my 500 GB Harddrive. Thank you for posting a really in-depth explanation, even though I read slower than a blind turtle.
  3. Happy birthday!

  4. I recently bought a new harddrive for my Playstation 3. It had a capacity of 500 GB. After installing it into my console, the system needed to format it. When it was done, I discovered to my great horror that up to 40 GB had been lost. Is there any way to fix this?
  5. Alright, I just took out the bottom lid and cleared the CPU-area and fan for dust. Not very dusty though, but there was some amount of ultra-fine dust that appeared as smoke when blown out. I also put an empty DVD case under the back of my laptop, lifting it up to provide a constant supply of fresh air under the computer. Let's all cross finger's now, shall we? Edit: How can I tell if my laptop has speedstep?
  6. Here is the sound for you: This is the excact sound that the PS3 will make when the fan is bad. On this video the person launches a "Fan test" on his PS3. It is mainly used for blowing dust out of the console, and from my experience, it works. Some people say that this test may harm the system, though I believe that to be just a rumor, and nothing more but bullsh*t. If you have a PS3-slim, Sarcolemming, I would recomend that you do not disassemble your PS3 if there is nothing wrong with it. The slim is a newer and improved version of the old PS3, and it should work just fine, as long as you don't beat it with a baseball bat.
  7. You mean screenshots of the RM clock program? I've been playing BF: Heroes for about six months, I guess. The strange thing is: When I go into my laptop power options and set CPU-efficiency to 99%, it never overheats. Though I get a fps drop of 15-20 in Heroes. If I put it back up to 100%, fps are high, until the CPU overheats and lags my game.
  8. specs? I know you didn't ask me about MY specs, but I'll show you my dxdiag. Perhaps you can tell me why my laptop can't stand Sacred 2. ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 7/18/2010, 04:43:11 Machine name: ANDERS-PC Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.100226-1909) Language: Norwegian (Bokmål) (Regional Setting: Norwegian (Bokmål)) System Manufacturer: Acer, inc. 9. Thanks for the fast replies. Alright, here's a link. My laptop is a ca 1 year old. It has been overheating ever since I tried Battlefield: Heroes. That and Sacred 2. 10. I read a guide online about a harmless way of keeping your CPU cooler during gaming. Only hazard for your PC would be blue screen, if you lowered too much power. I wanted to try this, of course, as my laptop CPU gets hot enough to boil an egg on everytime I play a half-new game. My CPU will overheat, the fan starts spinning like crazy, and my game will lag terribly. The guide gave me several programs that I would need to do this. They were: RMclock v. 2.35 ORTHOS CPU loader HWmonitor HWmonitor simply monitors how hot the CPU and GPU gets during gameplay and such. Orthos CPU loader stresses the CPU so that you can tell how hot it goes when it's at it's max. Here's how hot mine got: Now, something tells me that I really need this undervolting done. What happens is that whenever I play one of these two games: "Sacred 2" and "Battlefield: Heroes", my CPU will overheat, killing the FPS drastically. This will problably happen to many other games also. I would really like to eliminate this issue if possible, with these programs. It all seemed rather simple with the step-by-step guide, except for one thing. The RMclock v. 2.35 that I downloaded from the link given by the guide, was NOT the same as the screenshots on the same guide. This left me in a rather confused and helpless state, since that's the program used to do the undervolting itself. Can anyone help me with this?
  11. Apollo 440 reminds me of Prodigy. Also, the riff in the song is actually borrowed from Van Halens "Let's talk about love". Check it out. I'm feeling groovy today, so some stoner-doom would be appropriate:
  12. Oh, now that just makes my blood boil, Scleameth! There are ALOT of crooked shops out there that just wants to make an extra piece of money. The fact that your system took long to start up tells me two things: They either replaced the parts in your PS3 with cheaper, less effective ones, OR they can't fix for SH*T, and ruined your PS3. Either way, YOU as a buyer has all the rights here. This mess reminds me of my cousins PS1 back in the day: It stopped working so they took it to the shop to repair it. Stupid as they were at the time, they delivered it WITH the two original PS1-controllers that came with the console when they bought it. After a vast number of weeks, they finally got it back, but the two genuine controllers had been replaced with two "made in taiwan" controllers that was no good at all! We were too young to hatch a devious plan of retribution, and it still angers me to this day. Crooked people are everywhere. Stand up to your rights, and tan their hide if you must!
  13. Some crazy Russians dancing. They've got some pretty neat and gravity-defying moves! Real cool stuff starts at 0:50
  14. Here's mine: A Gibson Les Paul Studio version. It got it for 1100 $.
  15. I read somewhere that Osmium has the highest density of all minerals in the world, and that a 4-inch cube made entirely out of Osmium would weigh 220 pounds! Now THAT's a heavy metal. Be sure to tell me if they find any hard rocks or progressive jazzes.
  16. Great replies, folks. If you get this hideous noise, it is best just to shut it down. Dissecting the PS3 was actually kinda easy. It is a very neat console on the inside, as well as on the outside. You don't really need a youtube-guide to open it. Perhaps I should make a topic here about opening the PS3. Just know this: Be careful when dissasembling it! There are alot of small plastic hooks and stuff around that could break just by breathing on them. Also, the fan lies in the deepest part of your PS3. The console cannot be opened from the bottom up. You have to open it from the top. After you have removed all of the instestines, you will eventually reach the fan. Changing the fan is very easy. It is held down by three screws only, that are staring right at you. After removing this, the only thing you have to do next, is to pull out wire that's giving your fan it's power. Also, if you have alot of dust inside it, it is adviceable that you use a vacuum-cleaner and suck it clean. Now then.. the hunt for the perfect fan. If you find one the is 19-bladed and made in Japan, please tell me. Like I said, these ones will do a much better job at cooling your PS3. - Best regards! Edit: To Sarcolemming; All of the Slim's were delivered with a 17-bladed fan. If you get this noise from your PS3-Slim, I would highly recommend a vacuum-cleaner, or an exorcist.
  17. For months now, I have been trying to play this game with a little bit of dignity. That means non-choppy gameplay and just a joyride through Ancaria.. First, I bought Sacred 2 for PC. That didn't go very well, as I had some serious issues with the installation. I finally made it to 100% without any hickups, and was of course dancing in childish joy. Then began the eternal quest for the right patches. After a couple of days searching the internet, I finally found just the ones. I installed the patches, and was ready for an adventure! I soon realised that my adventure would be somewhat.. slow. My 1500 dollar laptop clearly could not bear the weight of Sacred 2 on the lowest graphics setting. After a couple of weeks crying in my windowpane, I finally took to my senses and purchased the game for my Playstation 3. Oh joy! Earlier today, with trembling hands, I put the disc into my console. Could this be it? Would I spend the rest of my holiday in euphoria? I finally started playing as a shadow warrior in the crypt. This looks very fun! I loved the first impression. It looked flawless and clean, and the combat system was alot of fun. Then I heard something terrible amassing itself within my beloved console.. The INFAMOUS jet-engine fan starting to spin like crazy deep in the bowels of my PS3. The noise was unbearable. I quickly tossed myself over my laptop and roamed thoroughly through google for answers: "Some versions of PS3 was delivered with a 15-blade fan that was made in China. These are bad at running you PS3 and keeping it cool during gaming. There is a way out, though: You can buy a 19-bladed Sony original fan that is MUCH better at it's job, and keeps the noise at an ultrasonic level.." With that knowledge I quickly dissected my Playstation 3, and started digging like crazy. After a while I finally reached the "fan", and to my surprise it was completely free of dust. I carefully counted the blades on the fan.. 13, 14, 15... MADE IN CHINA! How can Sony do this to people? This monstrosity alone is responsible for putting many happy gamers into straight-jackets. I only hope I will be able to get a fan that has 19 beautiful blades that will transform my personal jet into a distant, shimmering crystal in the night. That being said, I look forward to playing this game ONCE AND FOR ALL! - Best regards.. (I would wave to you, but the straight-jacket.. well, you know..)
  18. Overcast with light rain in Norway tonight. I'm guessing around 20 degrees C.
  19. Currently listening to an owl outside my window.. Oh, and Immolation - Swarm of terror. This album feels like getting hit in the face by a muddy landslide on NOS. Recommended for fans of extreme metal.
  20. Gratulerer med dagen!

  21. I'm buying this game for the PS3. Are there any quests that can be messed up by bugs that I should know about? And is there anything I should pay attention to when I start playing?
  22. Perhaps you noticed that they build up the tension excactly like a good horror movie. And when a freezing gust of wind suddenly blows out all the lights, the traveller stands up and says: "It's here..." If that doesn't send a chill down the spine of a 4-year-old, nothing will. Nice trailer, gogo. I think I'm gonna check it out. Looks very dark and obscure. I like it!
