Do we need an Armor Resistance Page?

Recommended Posts

Sacred 2:Armor Resistances is complete missing?!

I only found:

http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:Ice

http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:Physical

http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:Magic

Linked from http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:Infinite_Revenge

We need a page with all armor resistances on it and for every single resistance. Or please show me where it is and fix alle item links, that included resitances

On most other Sets of the Seraphim are even no links to the specific resistance (http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:Illuminated_Skies)

Thanks for the effort.

€dit: yes I used the search function of the wiki before doing that post :)

Found this...scroll towards bottom of page

http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:Item_Modifiers

Have armor resist entries but all are 'red'. Either those pages were never done or the links are bad. Not sure if that is what you were looking for

Also found the other resistance types

http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:Poison

I think it might be nice to have a single page for the 5 damage/armor types. I think the closest thing we have to them being listed together is the relics page.

Also I think that those links on the Item Modifiers page Knuckles linked should be changed to direct to each of the elemental pages.

There is a damage types page here I wrote up a few years ago:

http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:Damage_Types

Could this work into your tree?

What I'm seeing is that Knuckles' links are linking to teh specific damage type that is native to that weapon

Then from the specific damage type, it is linking back to page I showed at beining of this post to all damage types together grouped with examples of how their colors look.

Does that work out okay?

Do we need something on top of this?

Btw, I've always felt those element pages needed tlc... pictures of enemies glowing green and red, but Iran to another project that called

gogo

from there, it links to each damage type...maybe a link on each damage type particular page can link back to the page I put up above?

That's a fair bit of new content work, but I don't mind having a page for resistances, always wanted it, but made a compromise, and kind of made them together, till someone like you and others came along offering to make a resistance page for Wiki

That page was put up when we had a few hundred pages to write up at the same time, if anyone feels like writing a good article for resistances, It would be welcomed and loved

Thanks Gogo, that's exactly the kind of page I had in mind!

I think the existing page is good, and can be made great with a little work. For example, creating a new section with information about resistances. Damage and resistance are two sides of the same coin. All the info about weapon conversion damage does relate directly to resistances IMO.

Bingo!

Some of those pix I put up years ago, are a bit shoddy and naked wtihout frames,

Flix, your work with wiki formatting is excelent, I'm sure you can do a better job than I did way back when :4rofl:

Now I'm excited to see what someone can create out of all those old pages!

I faintly remember a graph like that, would be amazing for players!

I'm not sure, but I don't remember seeing it anywhere in the Wiki, Chattius, eeeeeeee...it's probably buried in our forum

Found the graph:

mitigation_by_armour.jpg

Now ineed to find the thread. Graph was from fighting a niob wolf and changing th armour values. The interedting part is, that having too low armour multiplies the damage shown in he last kill tooltip. This graph made me putting an artamark star amulet in a socket all the time, just to prevent to be close to 0 armour in a damage type and receive damage multiplication.

Why do use an artamark

Another graph, in photobucket/sacredwiki

Seems I have too big fingers for this small touchscren, lot of typos.

The formula for resistances affecting damage received is in the damage wiki. However the formula there is only for I guess silver. At higher difficulties the damage done by a monster is the damage shown in last kill tooltipp multiplied by a difficulty multiplier. The received damage is again multiplied by this multiplier ? This has to be verified. I did started the maths when my daughter was in hospital and I think I never really finished them.

http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:Damage

As you can see the graph is still in german, so I think I never really finished it?

attachment.png

The graph shows how much damage you receive from a wolf in niob whose last kill window shows 224 damage. The damage recieved at no armour is 744. Obviously it is good to stay away from the y-axis to prevent high peak damages. So best is do cover all damage types at least a bit.

Also not really in the damage wiki:

life leech attacks

DoT attacks

I've spent all morning unearthing all the topics I could find on here about damage, resistance, mitgation, secondary effects, detrimental effects, enemy auras, chance to disregard armor, and everything else related.

And boy, was there a lot of discussion. I'm trying to compile everything, compare it to what's already on the Wiki, and see if I can organize it all and enhance with pics or data of my own.

In other words, after adding this to my list 6 weeks ago, I've finally gotten around to doing it.

First thing I'm thinking is: I think I WILL make a new page for Resistances. There's enough info about Armor and other forms of resisting damage to warrant its own page (along with links on all the appropriate related pages).

What should I call it? Obviously it can't be called "Armor" because that's already the name of the page for Armor equipment. Also keep in mind the term "Resistances" is NEVER USED in-game in Sacred. It's "Armor" through-and-through. Still, the word "resistance" does show up once in the manual that I saw, in a description of Armor. Plus it's a word most players will immediately be familiar with. So I'm thinking one of these:

A) Armor (Resistances)

B) Armor (Damage Resistances)

C) Damage Resistances

D) Resistances

I think a nwe page for ressistances is excellenet idea. Regarding name, hmmm, we should ask Schot ...but Armor seems to be the right one as a gut, but lets see what he says

I agree that it's an art in of itself to understand that half of the game...in fact pure resistance builds are sort of a creation in themselves.

And here is something awesome... I was on Clan DA's site a wee while back, and read an AMAZING guide by Thorin Oaken Shield which he had published years ago when Sacred 2 was just released.

I pmed him yesterday for permission to have it here and in Wiki and he's said yes, to the publishing of the guide! :bounce:

I figger the information collected would be very helpful to region specific setups and the entire concept of Sacred 2 resistanances as well:

Flix, we just looked from within game looking for resistance or, just how they "refer" to this concept, and in Wiki for item modifiers.

You're right

Resistance is mentionned almost no where "officially" but it's referred to rather ubiquitiously in forums etc... so what we've done is create a redirect for the word "resistance" in the wiki, and this redirect will land someone directly on the Armor page, which doesn't actually havea lot on it. From here, explnations, links, pics can branch out, and for what's already there regarding the Armor sets, perhaps a "see also" can be added at the top of the page, so that peeps know there is a kind of disambiguation happening here as both terms are used interchaneably throughout sacreddom. We think with a setup like this, we can "catch" any searches anyone will be doing via another word, and our greatest mission, connecting people's queries, to the wiki's correct page is accomplished with minimal impact.

Sorry Flix for ginving you that much work for that. I was completly wrong with my idea to create a new page called "resistance"

You guys are right, its called like armor against..... or damage converting to...

In that case http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:Infinite_Revenge the "Armor Resistances:" point is completly wrong (on every other page like that as well)

best dicription for what I mean can be found here:

http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:Ice ("Ice is one of the five basic Damage and Armor types.")

My Idea behind my post was to create ONE page for alle five basic damage types and ONE for all five basic armor types.

So we don't have pages like now (posted above). Hope this time I better expressed my words this time.

I'm pretty satisfied with the way things turned out. See my post here describing how all the pages and concepts are laid out:

http://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?/topic/5892-sacred-wiki-latest-updates/?p=6963505

I wouldn't say the Infinite Revenge page is completely wrong, The section "Armor Resistances" just needs a link to the "Armor" page. I think we agreed to also keep using the word "Resistances" because it's so commonly used and understood by players. If someone searches "Resistances" on the Wiki, Gogo also made that redirect to the "Armor" page.

Soon, I'm going to go through all the Sets and other Items to point the links to the appropriate Item Modifiers and concepts. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

It's great the way this has worked out. Sneakor's idea to differentiate was good in that we have more resolultion for the down to earth mechanics of game for readers. As well, as mentionned, as readers look up resistance a lot, all the searches now end up on the Armor page, and from there they can fan out.

Our primary mission of leading readers to the answers that will increase their enjoyment of game, closer to being fulfilled
