  1. Jim look for the server that has these hangin on the door: gogo
  2. HC is Hardcore, Closed. And EU is the geography of the servers. When you aver picking a toon to play, you can click up on the skull at the bottom center of your menu. Practice clicking it on and off...it if glows red, it means you have created a HC toon. Next step is to know which server your game is registered for. EU Is Europe, and the other three are EE Eastern European and and United States. hope you're in EU cuz thats' where most of us are. gogo
  3. Jim, check here we're in EU... HC ... Silver http://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?sh...ic=9503&hl= gogo
  4. Servers are runnin everyone, yeeeeeeeee haw! come come, it's friday! gogo
  5. And there it is, waaaaay at the bottom center...our first ad Hosting costs have been rising pretty quickly over the last few months, and as you can imagine, with that success comes the extra bandwidth. Fernis, who owns Booyah Hosting, has been working with us for over a year now, and is the epitome of superb customer service. He has helped us in our many moves and reincarnations, and now he's helped us take this extra step to a mid-level site. The two sites here, DarkMatters and SacredWiki now get almost 100000 unique visitors a month combined. What's happened is that the "draw" on both sites resources is slowly increasing, and with the Sacred 2 about to be released on many other gaming consoles, we are thinking that the community here will probably become even busier. In planning for the future, we had to make a calculation of about how much bandwidth we think we would need, and how much we could possibly grow into over the next year. When we first noticed that the bandwidth was going to exceed limits, we began looking at commercial hosting, but as there are so many small things that always seem to happen with a site move, what we instead decided to do was see if there was a package being offered by any other hoster out there that could match our projected needs, with some decent pricing. We then asked Fernis if he would match it. And he did So we're staying here, at home, and we have lots of extra power to keep things running smooth, as well as some extra for some of Schot's wild, wild projects. The Booyah ad down at the bottom of the forum is going to occupy one third of the allotted space, with perhaps the other two thirds to both of it's sides being as banner space to be rented out perhaps by six month or one year contract. We have been investigating many ways of keeping up with the costs, and while advertising via google and others is easy to do...it just wouldn't be the same for us, and probably for you. As a forum is very "click" heavy and highly dynamic, advertising on all of it's pages could/would probably take it's toll on the pleasure we all, as heavy readers, get from the site. This is why we are electing to go with banners, and as soon as we have pricing, we'll offer it first to anyone of our site's members here who perhaps have small businesses or ventures they wish to have advertised on DarkMatters. We won't be asking a lot for the space... we'd just want to defray costs. This is our hobby first and not really a business. Perhaps more stronger advertising could find it's place on the Wiki, along the top, bottom, and perhaps on the sides? A wiki isn't as dynamic a medium as a forum is, and it would maybe work better there. As well, we are considering a "Supporting Memberships" idea, where peeps can "buy" a tag that would show in their profiles here at DarkMatters when posting. We'd probably have two prices...one for a month, and one for the year. The supporting membership wouldn't get you much in the way of extras...but it would be a way for members to help us out with costs if they're so inclined without us having to ask for donations, which is something we're very uncomfortable with Again, thank you everyone who's been coming here for years now, and a great big welcome to the many, many new members who join up every day. The sites and this community are one of my own greatest personal pleasures these days, and all of you are a part of it. Cheers! gogo
  6. Hmmm, this could be. Is the one that loox like a leopard the one that's found in Dryad Isle then? And the Black one in Jungle? gogo
  7. We've tried a few times to get one going, Andrew, but with all the work I seem to get sucked into with a busy forum, wiki and play time, lol...real time for chatting seems to escape me. What I've noticed though lately is that when I do have msn open I share time with one or two peeps...and I was actually thinking that it would be better "sharing" of time if perhaps there was an irc so that everyone could have an "in" on the group, and it would make it maybe easier for peepsin dif levels trying to communicate. That Whispering that Sacred 2 does is awful IMO. No promises on my part on being able to frequent one a lot...but maybe the strategy of keeping one open and then keeping an eye on it every once in a while could have some good utility these days. gogo
  8. Andrew, that was a wonderful introduction, thank you! And yes, I think you found a good place...both you and the wife... gaming junky all around here...in fact I have to be very careful because I can get drawn in so quickly. It's funny because you were saying in another topic that your reason for building the skillilator is selfish ones... and funnily enough, this community and wiki and sacred 2 probably mean so much to me because the energy for it all comes so easily. I sometimes wonder whether I'm being "selfish" by having so much fun with this hobby, and then wonder if others out there are so lucky to easily slip into things they enjoy so much. A Bull dog? Lucky! That's probably one of the breeds I've been fanatical about ever since I was a kid. Something about their countenance is so appealing. They look like they have massive loveness ^^ We have a pic thread somewhere around key largo if you want to stick a few up. It's a great way for everyone here to put a face to the name. Glad you found us, and hope you continue enjoying the boards. gogo
  9. Welcome to DarkMatters, Cinthyax! And thank you for the application. I'm happy that you've met up with some our members, and that's an important part of the application process. Another part is the minimum number of posts needed here on this forum as outlined in our D.a.r.k Clan Application guidelines so that you can meet up with our members this way. Our forum is the lifeblood of the clan, and it's where all of the important communications, gossips and boasting happen Looking forward to your posts, and once you have the minimum, we can start up a discussion/vote thread for you internally. Ahhh, friend of Epox, eh? Has he told you his chicken a la epox recipe yet? gogo
  10. Have you guys seen them? Erris wrote them up just a little while ago, and they're delightful. The little intros are entertaining as well as useful with the little tips she's written in for the areas and enemies. Great work Erris! gogo SacredWiki Bestiary gogo

  15. HOw about bandwidth and lag... Does slowest person's bandwidth in network the one that slow everyone down? gogo
  16. Lenvda, yay, you're here! And welcome to DarkMatters! Just in the nick of time Question... can you tell me which network I choose to join up with peeps we know? Should I choose home? gogo Edit p.s. and do all of us that want to play together all have to have the same network setting chosen?
  17. Is it affected by region? Can all of us who have this game play? Which network locations should we choose? gogo
  18. Wow, this is from SIF and posted by lenvda which has just been stickied: Lightbulb Sacred2 and Hamachi works! (confirmed) 1. Install Sacred2, and update it to the latest version. 2. Install Hamachi, join or create a new network and have your friends do the same. 3. Add "hamachi.exe", "sacred2.exe" and "s2gs.exe" to the exception list in your firewall. 4. If you have a router, open port 7011 (default port when hosting Sacred2 multiplayer game). 5. Open Hamachi and go to "Preferences", view the status tab and click "Detailed configuration" under the "Connection" header. 6. Tick both UDP and TCP port options and fill in ports of choice (for example 50000 and 50001). 7. Open both these ports in your router, make sure you don't switch TCP and UDP ports when entering them in your router ) 8. Open "Network connections" in windows xp, select the advanced tab and choose advanced settings. 9. The upper window has a list of all connections, and most probably hamachi is at the bottom. 10. Select hamachi and press the up arrow until hamachi is at the top, when done press ok and you're ready to play. This worked for me and my friends, no lag, no disconnects, pure heaven! Can anyone here set this up? I need my fix! jonesing here gogo
  19. I can't think of a better reason for doing anything . Stuff that's done cuz it's coming from inside is the best encouragement possible. It sounds like you've got great reason to research and build this tool. If you need hosting space for your tool, as we've offered to everyone else that has come up with great aids for the community, we'd be honored to find a way to make this happen for you on the wiki or on this site. Cheers! gogo
