  1. Nice vid Erling, maybe consider taking the toon to Softcore Open? This way you can eat a TON of runes and see if a super duper uber high level has any effects that are standard are not. gogo
  2. Glad's a strong toon, no argument there. The sheer regen he gets naturally on his Combat Arts are incredible. I found that the few times I tried to play him there just wasn't enough of a diversity in play styles for him regarding Combat Arts. Wish he could just had a wee bit of magic gogo
  3. Disco Fries? Heresy... poutine it is! And Sil, this is exciting if you're going to make this dish.... Makes me think maybe once a month or something we should all do a friday or saturday night cook off where we all make dishes and bring 'em to the table/forum. That with some pics of what everyone's cooked up could be very interesting. A kind of "bring your own" And Erling, maybe the time has come for chef rank titles at FDM gogo
  4. Interesting...lol, the links changed ^^ And, lol... Imperia Online is one of the links that google says is big for this site.. Go figger gogo
  5. Alas, roby, I find myself still puting those double spaces after the period. It's been drummed in on pain of a lower mark. When we had to do our speed typing tests for the Deaf Relay, we had to consistantly hit 60 words per minute. This on top of having to remember, "uhhh... is it one or two... ?" Made getting the speed necessary. I've been putting in two spaces as a habit, but have come to rely upon software to decide, better or worse, how it comes out. I'll keep in mind what you wrote about the proper number of spaces regarding publishing however... good to know if I plan on becoming a literary knockout. gogo p.s. And btw, welcome to DarkMatters!

  7. 30 days and nights Some fantastic cinematography and editing make vampires scarily believable in this blood-drenched tragedy, one of the best horror movies to have come along in years. gogo
  8. Daniel Bolster of Studio 2 with Ascaron Entertainment presents an interesting explanation of how quests will be created in Sacred 2 at IGN gogo How to create a Sacred 2 quest At Studio II we use our custom-made quest editor for implementing stories and quests in Sacred 2. In any game a quest basically consists of the following components: characters, items and interdependencies. You could very well program them using a scripting language, but it's a lot easier to just select all elements with your mouse. You still may use the scripting language for all the other stuff, but usually that's no longer necessary. If a quest author starts the editor, they see the Sacred landscape in low resolution and from a bird's eye perspective. Thanks to many tools they may navigate the map as well as list and find quests, characters or items. The scrap heap you can see on the map above is one of the level designers' a test scenarios – I like using it as a playground for quest techniques. All objects are stored in an SQL database the editor uses. That way all quest authors may work on the same game world simultaneously. To make the quests playable the database is simply exported into the game folder. Save my daughter! For testing purposes I have created a very small and easy rescue scenario here: a man asks you to save his daughter. To get the quest the hero first has to pass a trigger area (an area triggering an event when entered) to activate the quest. The question mark over the man's head tells players that he has a quest for them. Since this game character "gives" a quest to the player's character, the term "quest giver" has stuck with us. This is how the author sees the quest in the editor: Read More Here
  9. lol, another one that thought they could get away... Our blue burning flying smurf http://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=6067 is celebrating his birthday today.... Dick, I hope you've have a wonderful day (lol, I'm not sure whether you're still here in the states or not ^^) and had the opportunity to celebrate with lots of bubbly drinks, presents, and most importantly...great weather. Happy Birthday Sir! gogo
  10. That was a pretty cool story Lucalain..I'd always thought that your name was a kind of Mario association... lol, guess it was because of the avatar you used to use way back when. Dang Knuckles... do you remember playing with me? I think I remember a sesson or two when I played with someone named Rockdog... do you remember that? lol, Schot I remember you trying to find a name... man, you were nuts about Tron for awhile...it seemed like that was all you could play. It's too bad it didn't catch... pretty competitive as I remember it. Genenut, you really took me by surprise here... I never knew you were so into genealogy... I was wanting to really find out more about my family line as well..but it just seemed so complicated... especially as most of my family is from Sril Lanka... and records aren't kept very well... I'm very intrigued by this...maybe you should make a thread? lol, Scleameth... I was always wondering where your name came from... heh, always thought it was Irish or something ^^ gogo
  11. Wrong Turn 2 101 ways to make sausage out of humans gogo
  12. No Country for Old Men Terminator reborn, just a different accent gogo
  13. I completely agree with Podgie...your friends, because they're your friends, will support your choice Timo. gogo
  14. I saw this topic running on another forum, and I thought it could be entertaining. Rules are pretty simple. List the title of a movie, and then in one sentence write a review of it. Guess I'll go first Jason Takes Manhattan Jason kills Manhattan gogo
  15. I vote for you to play with how you feel right now as well. History is important, but how you feel now is what games should be about. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy is what I say. With school and work and more work and school...lol, make sure your game time is as fun for you as it can get. The only rule of thumb I have regarding in game names for me is to keep em short so that when others have to type it out, it's easy for them. I've seen some peeps with ingame names so long that when they show up in game, their name is a constant crawl across the left side of the screen and it even gets in the way of graphics sometimes! gogo
  16. I've so pleased with this choice of mount. In fact, I think it's way cooler than the tiger for the Seraphim. The other mounts, I think, are probably the thing that has me the most curious about the game. I think the spider tickled my fancy because there is both some normalcy about it, as it exists in our world... and the grotesque...I hate the things. Good job Ascaron... you still sound like the game company I fell in love with years ago. gogo
  17. We have the a firefly set of disks here, Schot's sister gave it to him for Christmas...but I don't remember seeing a documentary that came with it...now I'm going to have to hunt it down to see this documentary. I had always known that the series was immensely popular...but I never knew it sold out so fast. Are you saying that it got canned just because they didn't "understand" it? And I agree...there are very few people think that anything in the show was "weak"... It breaks my heart to see something like this get cancelled so quickly...especially as the quality of the writing is above so much of what's out there. Grateful for the movie though, which, funnily enough, I actually saw before watching the entire dvd of the series in it's entirety. I disagree/agree with BSG being the next groundbreaker.... and for some sad reasons regarding how people perceive it. My honest impression is that BSG right now is the best sci-fi ever produced because the quality of writing is on part with anything else out there right now...and...this is a funny important kind of thing...it got to run for a few years. Critical value and success are two different things. Firefly and BSG I think that we can both agree are critcal hits...but BSG succeeded. In fact, it's pretty much the only real big sci fi thing running right now. And I sadly have to agree that after this...we're going to be in another dry hole for awhile. BSG came off a movie which got turned into a series... the movie and series actually were never really good (lol ) Course I loved them...but what else was there to watch at the time? So we've got a good series running now spun off from a kind of old lame-old series...and firefly which was brilliant and original...but didn't last a season.... It seems like the only thing that's done VERY well...is Star Trek. You're right Kat..there seems to be a vacuum right now...what is going to fill it up? Are there any old shows out there from the past that peeps would have an interest in watching being re-done? Or...is something gonna come up with something completely original like Firefly...which is risky, because the series barely had one season? For what it's worth...BSG still makes me feel happy. I'm always waiting for the next episode, no matter how frustrated some of the last episodes have made me feel...but I do remember that the writers always managed to pull rabbits out of hats that sometimes I would not have even guessed where there. gogo p.s. regarding the octagonal paper... you know, I'd read somewhere that it was a joke that someone had done...and then becuase of that one time... they felt they had to continue with it. I'm not sure I've even noticed lately...are they still doing it?
  18. Phantasy Star... Did that come out for Genesis as well? I think I remember spending a small fortune (lol, at that time) for the game...and was hooked on it for months...the game was huge, and was very indepth for Genesis at the time. I may even have the old Genesis lying around somewhere...maybe it's time to dust it off and see if it's still good. gogo
  19. It's definitely one of the best products made...at least for me now. Firefly was incredible. The acting, writing, all of the stuff that Kat pointed out we see in BSG...it's actually pretty cool seeing both my two favorite sci-fi shows so close-looking to each other. Funny thing is... after seeing how much I liked BSG...I had to go back to seeing a few episodes of StarTrek TNG...just to see if I'd been misled..if the show was never as good as it stays in my memory..thing is....it's still great. And so I wondered why. Really looking hard at the third year(was that the one with the borg?) I realized that at that time for me..there was a lot of discovery going on for me regarding the series. Nothing really sci-fiey had been done with a great budget...and here comes Star Trek..not only with great effects...but also with a great cast. I think this is what I enjoyed so much out of seeing BSG for the first two episodes...that new approach on a big level... something bigger even than Firefly. Firefly was awesome...but I could never get over the feeling that it was ...small, lol. BSG and Star Trek were huge. I felt like when I was tuning into those episodes I'd be part of huge galaxy shaking forces with full phasers, Q, Cylons...you name it. It was this "epicness" of the two series that I always got a kick from. Firefly will always hold that place close to the heart... but if BSG took inspiration from Firefly, I'm sure that Joss Whedon is very proud of what was done his ideas. And yeah... gotta love the octagon paper huh ^^ gogo
  20. Myles, I think the problem with these kinds of series, especially when they're sci-fi... is all of the discovery that goes on when they first start. We'd be naive to believe that "the new" isn't a part of the enjoyment... most of the first two opening hours of this series was spent with my mouth open in a big "o" as I kept seeing and meeting elements that would consistantly surprise me. -hand held camera shots -soundless space battles -drumming and ethnic music themes -sex -octagonal cut paper- -Cylons that look like us -more sex -Space craft that move with inertia -lots and lots of violence -Best space explosions ever seen on screen Seeing Starbuck girlified was such a delight, seeing the new Adama had me cheering because this guy was so good. I'll never forget that first season. There were surprises every mile of the way, and while I'm still enjoying watching it now... I do hope they know when to pull the plug. gogo
  21. ahhh, technology Glad to hear she's home Knuckles... and gosh... the weekend has arrived! gogo
  22. hmmm...retro games... Sacred? heh, on a more serious note, I'd have to think about this... you know, there's a whole summer to kill off before Sacred 2 gets here... maybe I should dish out and see what's in the bargain bin ^^ gogo
  23. Yes, just enjoy the experience knuckles... relax while you're doing it... but don't forget to make it look and taste perfect. And don't forget the pix no pressure gogo p.s. Borg, you're one of the big chefs here on site... hope you get to try and tinker with this one...I'm sure it'll go great with the laid back island lifestyle ^^
  24. I always love to read about where people get their nicks from. Fascinating reading. I'm not too sure where my name comes from anymore... but I remember always changing it... gogoblender was one name I picked one day, I guess I was just mixing up a bunch of names... you guys know my fascination with the kitchen... and it stuck. gogo
