  4. Another find today this one by Richard Mitchell over at xbox 360 Fanboy with a hands on video of their time with the game during this years GDC. What I liked most was seeing how much mobility the hellhound gives to the Shadow Warrior, and that water, ah yes, the water, looks especially nice today ^^ Also check out that fat looking skill tree. Yummy http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/02/28/x3...red-2-hands-on/ gogo
  5. Just found this right now off the net...it's a personal blog by Daniel Bolster from the Sacred 2 Fallen Angel Design Team. Enjoy the read gogo Taken from IGN Blog Index Wednesday, March 05, 2008 Sacred 2's Quest System Hi, my name is Daniel Balster, and I'm part of the Sacred 2 - Fallen Angel team. Among other things, I'm in charge of coding the quest system. Before moving to Aachen to join Studio II, I was based in Gütersloh for seven years. I've been coding for computers and video game consoles for more than twenty years now - I think I'm getting old... :-) Sacred 2's deep story with its many quests required a new and innovative approach, because, usually, every single mission is coded individually. So we developed a quest editor, enabling several people to work with the same database simultaneously. Thanks to the editor level designers may place characters and items on the map, enter dialogues in several languages, define mission parameters and link quests with each other. And since you just click stuff with your mouse and don't code anything, you can't make any coding errors... To me, the best thing about my task is the fact that the quest system combines the work of all my colleagues. The level designers' great scenery, the modelers' cool 3D objects, the extremely complex game logic and, of course, the exciting story - the quest system requires all of that, and so I'm always the first to see and play Sacred 2! I add my colleagues' finished components, code some modifications here and there, remove bugs and develop missing program parts, which may be not as "popular", but have to be coded nevertheless. Algorithms, debugging, coding graphics, logic, network, web server and databases for Windows, Linux and console - a challenging mix of technologies, but, after all, that's what makes it all so special! I'm currently working on the inventory and equipment system. After all, everything the player finds and collects in quests or loots from enemies has to be managed. Which items may players equip, and how? What about equipping two-handed weapons along with a torch? How do we handle healing potions, weapons, shields, armors etc.? And, of course, everything has to be cheat-safe and network compatible.
  6. I'm wondering... does gumbo usually arrive in decorated plates like this? Or is this just a marketing thing? Man, I can't stop looking at that pic gogo
  7. I have firefox 2 loaded up on mine. remember, half the fun is setting up your browser with all the nifty skins, themes and additions. I think there's a thread around here somewhere with stuff like that on it, lemme find it... gogo
  8. I shouldn't have built it up so much, lol. I just had a fantastic time watching it. Take your time and enjoy it, with so much horror schlock out there these days...when you finally get your hands on the real thing... enjoy it gogo
  9. The funny thing is that I do remember trying out BFG builds in the beginning..but that weird effect of weapons going into that holding area while the new super spear is manifested actually lost me Two Paternus Arguments lol, and that was my last of my experiments with the BFG Erling, you must love BFG's big advantage...those bolts are not resisted by anything. A very healthy chunk of damage awarded to anyone who uses this CA. Glad to see you put together a competent build. Congratulations gogo
  10. After a long time of seeing other websites with those cool nifty links that noone has figured out yet what you have to do to look cooler than the rest... Authority status has now finally been conferred for DarkMatters search engine rankings. Advertising budget here...zero Time till we got them...bit more than two years Heart and spirit here... tons! We were always trailing that matt dude... grrrrrrrr...at number two for the last two years and we finally just last night got first place. Most other Authority sites have six links... poor us we only have three For now ^^ A beautiful community here that has finally been recognized. Free pizza for everyone! gogo

  13. hahha, that's awesome Erling! The video alone is a standout, great music and editing You've turned the BFG CA into a top ten CA choice Well done! gogo p.s. I know that Csaszar runs a pretty good BFG build, if he catches this thread I'd be interested in hearing his commentary
  14. It takes a bit of time getting used to the tabs...but after seven days...you'll wonder how you ever surfed without it. I was a diehard explorer until Schot forced me to the light gogo
  15. The reason why I'm so into this today is cuz I went to a quickchop noodleshop and the beef was SO tender..it practically melted in my mouth and I want to replicate that softness. Course there was so much sauce on it I'm not sure what color it was. Heck, I'm not even sure if it was beef gogo
  16. Frosty you didn't say HOW good this movie was. This movie was REALLY good. Sadistic vampires? zomg, that doesn't even begin to cover it. It's possibly the best horror movie I've seen in the last five years. A movie that concerns itself with vampires all being about creating despair, misery and pain for there human cattle. And woah...no holds barred here. I couldn't believe what our heroes had to do...couldn't believe what they lost finally at the end of the movie. The ending took me by surprise. Great! From the first few minutes, the cinematography, music, sounds...all held me captive. Loved the language the vampires spoke, loved their intonation, just pretty much liked so much about this movie...that whole Childen of Men approach with the aerial views on the slaughter... wow, good to know there's still things out there being made that can terrify us like this. And here's the interesting thing...about fifteen minutes into this movie, the entire concept so intrigued me that I stopped the movie, and googled Barrow. Turns out that in real life the period of time in Alaska when the sun sets isn't thirty days... It's sixty How's that for horror. gogo
  17. Big grocery day today, guess what I'm going to buy more of ^^ I'll let y'all know how it turns out gogo

Danke!

  20. Tier 2 games are games that have arisen out of New and General Gaming section, have proven popular with a good number of FDM's community members, and have asked for more room than one thread. Tier 2 gaming clans here at FDM are different from Sponsored games in that they have no direct link from the main index of DarkMatters, but can be accessed via the New and General Gaming Section where their own forum resides. A game that has proven popular with the community can consider application for Tier 2 status and be granted the creation of it's own forums when the three following requirements are met. 1- Significant activity (posting) regarding the new game must be obvious, and continued activity must be observed for the Tier 2 clan to maintain it's boards here on site. 2- The choice of a Game Captain is made clear. This person will be the official liaison between the Tier 2 Clan and the admins here at FDM. 3- The name of the clan uses the word Dark as part of it's clan name. (The use of just Dark or D.a.r.k as a clan name is not permitted so as not to have a Tier 2 Clan confused for an officially sponsored gaming clan here at FDM.) As a note, not all members of a Tier 2 Gaming Clan need be members of D.a.r.k Fellowship, with the roster being managed and adminned by the Game Captain and the clan in whichever way they feel works best. Tier 2 games are not sponsored games, and are not sponsored by the site, are not connected to DarkMatters in an official capacity and hence, are not subject to any of the D.a.r.k. Clan rules. As such, they are more an informal gathering of this site's gamers and can be quickly formed. Once a Game Captain for a new Tier 2 game has been chosen by that new group, and the alliance name has been chosen (with the word Dark either as prefix or suffix) the chosen Game Captain need only send a PM to any of the admins here at FDM stating that they are the chosen Game Captain and telling us what the name of the clan is and how many forums are needed with the names of the forums. We can have the forums created and running within a few days, with the only thing different from officially sponsored D.a.r.k. clans being that no internal forums will be created for Tier 2 games as the creation of permission masks and new user groups is time consuming and hugely complicated on a forum with this many user groups already in place. FDM will do the site moderation on the threads as regarding our TOS, but since Tier 2 games are not officially sponsored, we can't offer help regarding administration of the games itself regarding game captains, internal section, official clan sigs, official banners, official membership rosters, or custom skins (as per sponsored games ) for the forums. Good luck and best wishes with your new game! gogo
