  1. Thanks for the input I'd say that torchlight would be the clear choice if it was multiplayer (torchlight 2 looks awesome) with it's collection of community mods as well as the free modding tool to let you play around with game mechanics yourself. Though I can't quite decide (wallet will probably decide for me ) based on my trial experiences so far. Torchlight = awesome gameplay (I've always enjoyed hack 'n' slash arpgs) and is easy to pick up (though I'm worried about not being able to respec, though I only had the trial so maybe I missed how to do that?), w/ the ability to get mods from the site/mod it yourself vs. Guild Wars = Single or multiplayer (with pve and pvp gameplay), vast (I think) maps, a bunch of classes & a ton of possible class combinations, as well as multiple storylines, in general a very large game. Though I'd say it's not as easy to pick up and play (have to learn about attributes, skills, secondary classes, etc.) as well as being a bit grind-y (not like torchlight where you take on hordes of enemies to get loot) with the armor forging/material gathering. That and GW costs more lol.
  2. Cannot choose between GW Trilogy or Torchlight, think I'll have just enough to get GW, more than enough to get torchlight, and I loved both of the trials I played...
  3. never played the diablo games, think I'll have to try this one though. first demon hunter , then probably barbarian or wizard
  4. Way I get around it is simply close the bonus overview, open and -very quickly- scroll to the desired menu, if you take too long it'll lock up again. hey, I leveled up lol.
  5. Could be a bug w/ reflective emanation, though I've had the scrolling issue happen on other characters as well (also ps3 version).
  6. All the games mesh together, you will be able to play one character trough all campaigns. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page It says where all armors are obtained and the prices, also very helpful with missions and storyline. should be quite a few armor traders as you follow the storyline and get to different outposts. Finding your primary profession can be hard, for me it took an entire year, which is an abnormal amount of time, but I'd try every profession and see which one is the most enjoyable. don't worry about secondary professions, you can change them later on. Skill quests are quite handy early in game, as skills get more and more expensive for every skill you buy ( capped at 1k). but not really needed. outposts later in game have skill traders with a lot of skills... and side quests for just experience is something id skip if you are content with your level/amount of experience. they usually dont give that much anyway. Dual wield is equipping two one handed weapons, no. you can only equip one weapon, but if you are using a one handed weapon you can use a shield or offhand/focus. Daggers (introduced in factions) are a two handed weapon, it is a pair of daggers, one in each hand (pics on gw wiki ) Awesome, was worried about only being able to play addon classes in their respective campaigns (would suck). Char I'm currently playing is a necro/mesmer (just got soul barbs) and that's been fun, think after I get the trilogy pack I'll play a warrior/dervish or a dervish/necro. Thanks, love having a wiki to clarify things. Cool, good to know what I can skip/what'll be more helpful to do early. Though isn't there a purchaseable skill pack in the store (didn't see how much it is, but unlocking all the skills from the get go seems cool, although I guess that'd detract from the experience of finding the skills yourself)? Dang, when I saw that there were no 2 handed swords/axes I was hoping there'd be some kind of dual wield skill/attribute you could get. Thanks! Actually just got to Old Ascalon missions before I read this.
  7. First, if I get nightfall/factions will the classes from those addons be available for use in the main game? Or will a nightfall class only be playable in nightfall? Second, when do you start getting new armor? Only new pieces I've found are from those item collectors, and it's a pain to sell all of those items and then find a collector waaay down the road asking for said items. Third, what profession combos would you guys recommend? I usually like playing a melee, mage or melee/mage hybrid. I like the way the (high level) armor looks for the warrior/necromancer (and possibly the elementalist). Last, is it recommended to do a couple side quests and then stick to the main quest line? I'm wondering mainly about skill acquisition (painstaking so far). Really last, is it possible to dual wield? Thanks!
  8. ok, thanks! Another question I had, is there dual wielding in this game? if so, what skill/attribute/requirements do I need to DW? Anywho, off to level up my warrior/necromancer.
  9. Hi, I recently downloaded the GW trial and loved it, think I'm going to be getting it (psyched that it actually runs fairly well on my pc), but was wondering what you meant by that (bold text). Is there easily acquire-able armor specific to each addon?
  10. I think I'd rather have a button that determines the range of certain combat arts I.e. switches between wide spread and tight grouping for HE's glacial thorns spell, or one that makes npcs immediately run over to you. That and couch co-op can get annoying when one person decides to repeatedly press the head north button...
  11. but wouldn't 3 (even w/o sharp blades) still do more damage than 2 with sharp blades? I.e. 2 spectres each do 100 damage per hit (for the sake of easy math), sharp blades = 140-145 damage a hit for a total of 280-290 damage, whereas 3 spectres = 300 damage total, so not a lot, but still more, and that's 1 more spectre to reflect damage (please correct me if that's wrong). So I think I'll be running 3 spectres w/ armour silver mod (though I think sharp blades makes their weapons look a lot better). I think that even if 4 specs didn't run into eachother 3 w/ sharp blades would still do more damage (excluding reflected damage and assuming they're all hitting for the same amount at the same time), I.e. each spectre does 100 dmg/hit 3 w/ sharp blades = 140-145 each for 420-435 dmg total, compared to 400 dmg total for 4 spectres (though running without armour silver mod would decrease their survivability substantially). Actually the wiki also recommends taking the armour silver mod lol, so imo it's a choice between style and efficiency, and I think that choosing between these 2 comes down to personal preference (2 spectres w/ better equipment that never [?] run into eachother or 3 spectres that do more damage [maybe] and sometimes run into eachother). p.s. welcome to fdm thorsfew!
  12. I think that the sharp blades bronze mod increases damage. I remember asking this question a while back (though not as thoroughly) and I was told that more skeletons = more damage, unless you take sharp blades and 1 extra skeleton (was told that 4 could get in eachothers' way but 3 did it much less). I think it comes down to personal preference, imo 4 skeletons or 3 skeletons & sharp blades will = more damage, but taking blades or extra skeleton and shield silver mod will mean a lot more survivabilty (which might mean more damage on plat/niob as they can't do damage if they're "dead"). I'm probably going to try 3 spectres and shields mod, as it seems to me that (at least in theory) adding another skeleton = 50% damage increase, and I've been told that with shields and elite armor mods they become "indestructible".
  13. Nice build! I've often wanted to use polearms, but I usually end up taking hafted/sword/DW. Few questions though: I know the wiki says the attack/defense bonuses on speed lore are actually % bonuses, but I've also been told by a few people that speed lore doesn't seem to make a big difference (other than the run speed, took it on an old Inquisitor, love sprinting everywhere). How big a difference have you seen for this (might want to actually try it out). No AS focus anywhere (skele minions)?
  14. Alright.. I'm glad I didn't save my progress as I chose Blacksmithing as a sixth skill. I was worried my character was FUBAR, but then I remembered that I managed to save my game before I chose my next skill. How sad.. I could really use the blacksmith skill. They just never got it implemented for the console interface. It's too bad that Ascaron went belly up before having an opportunity to implement it. And that deep silver didn't continue working on patches/the expansion for consoles, just think about all the money they could've made selling us the xpac/all the ice & blood awesomeness we'd have.
  15. In the next console update You can read more about it here: The current status on the things to come for the console versions Awww, got my hopes up for a second, then I saw the date when this was posted...
  16. happened to me in the dryad city, every time I took the stairs up I'd have maybe a second on the 2nd floor before immediately being booted back down, had to quit and reload.
  17. Actually happened during the battle a couple times, wondered how the **** the boss was at full health again, then I realized I was targeting the sakkara demon.
  18. I could swear I've seen my ZD using CAs w/o the mods, I thought they just made him use them more often.
  19. I prefer testa and ker, I never take divine devotion and testa seems like the best all around damage dealer of the deity powers, and I only choose ker if I'm playing an inquisitor (mortifying pillory = you can still get the demon to fight the bosses ). Other than that I'd say forrens sounds like the next best, reflecting damage is always good.
  20. can't that corrupt your data if you eject after it triggers the save though?
  21. Yes you can, but I'm still a lazy bum who doesn't like chain casting semi-buffs over and over again even if they have the same regen time = duration. Really the player's call on whether or not they like chain casting Well that was Ascaron's plan from square one, right? lol same here going battle aura on my tg becuase I don't like constantly activating combat alert. Heh, yep, sounds about right been playing since a few years ago on the 360, had to restart on the ps3, and it's still fun. Next up is pc.
  22. Seen some of these, like quest chains in oblivion that you complete to get awesome armor sets/weapons, or (one of the mods I wanted most) in morrowind there was a mod that changed the graphic for Keening (really strong main quest dagger) from a dagger to a longsword. Another cool mod I've seen is one that lets you choose dremora for your race in oblivion character creation.
