  1. It's like the old saying...If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. It's really just understanding your new limitations and accepting them. In a weird way you simply get used to it after a while. I could get depressed and whine about how life isn't fair or what I'm missing out on but that doesn't help at all. I just get bummed out and I'm still in the same situation. It's all just a mindset really. Unless I have a bad day I don't even think much on it at all. Oh...good meds definitely help though Well said. It's pretty much the same for me.
  2. I feel for you man, I really do. I know all about the things that pile up like that. I currently take a paxil every morning and an atavan(sp) every 8 hours as well. As for the sciatica.....oh man! I am no stranger to that pain.
  3. Even though that does not really appeal to me, I have to say that you have the coolest food products up there. Going to have to schedule a trip one of these days.
  4. Readin my email and I get this add from TigerDirect going on about the fastest processor in the world. Quite a claim! Well they are talking about the latest addition to the i7 line with 6 cores. And I guess it's unlocked for overclockers. Now usually I get excited about something like that but this time, perhaps I'm getting older, I just shook my head and asked myself. Do I really need six cores when I am running smoothly with two. I may upgrade my CPU this year from AM2 to AM3 and I'll ramp up the processor speed from the mid 2's where I am now to the high 3's. But do I really need to go to 4 cores?
  5. I didn't get very far. Didn't have much time to play as I had to leave for work but I'm going to have to give it another try. Much better than most adultswim games.
  6. I just saw the finished image--it looks perfect to me.
  7. I personally like the scent of Tide; can't use it though. Besides being rather expensive, it makes me itch like crazy. Always know if my clothes have been washed in Tide.
  8. I hate that one as well. Spend way too much time fighting it and have to re-buff every 20 seconds. I forget which toon it was but I had one that could take it out in seconds, the Griffon would actually run from me.
  9. Lol, I have two computers--just never thought of that. There is a wireless mouse on the other computer and the kids sometimes pocket it if they are going to the bathroom. I may buy a better mouse for my box and give them this one.
  10. It's possible, though I had these problems and worse before the weight loss. But I didn't start one of those fad diets--just cut out some bad things from the selection and cut portion sizes. I now eat three meals a day instead of the sporadic way I would eat. I have been pushing myself a bit the past two weeks, though and that may not be cool. I had a repeat today, though. Same thing, different location. Some woman called it in and waited with me. They gave me an IV that they said was just saline solution, but it left a strange taste in my mouth and caused me to smell things. I got hot all over. I asked what it was, but they assured me that it was just a normal IV. Kind of felt like contrast--I've had that before. It's fine if they warn you first. So, in addition to my appointment tomorrow, I have an appointment with a shrink. Not really looking forward to that.
  11. I remember an episode of 'Two Hot Tamales' on the food network. They were Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger. Well they were making that. . . .uh. . .thing and they couldn't stop giggling throughout the entire episode. Never have seen one in a store. There is a root, horseradish perhaps, that has the same appearance. Grocery stores trim them to make them more acceptable before they put them out, but I had a friend who was a assistant manager in the produce department once..... Never will try the balut either. I have a friend at work who is a very adventurous eater. He likes those.
  12. I posted late last year that I would finish my novel this year. But to date I have stared at a a blank screen. Be it Open Office or the beta of Word 2010--the results are the same. The problem is the beginning. Just couldn't do it. I guess it's because I have such a huge story that spans many centuries--wasn't sure where to start, how much to include, how much to reveal as the story went on. Well I had a sudden inspiration the other night and I am on my way. Decided to let the past stay in the past and slowly reveal important points as the story progresses. So what I end up with is a main character who becomes more complex as the story progresses and hopefully some big surprises as well.
  13. Better not be a driver issue. It's a microsoft wheel mouse optical
  14. Since upgrading. . .not sure if I am upgrading because I went from the RC to real Win7 or downgrading because I went from ultimate to home premium. Anyway, there have been a few times where I let the computer sit for an hour or two. Of course when I come back the screen is black. I'll click the mouse a couple times to wake everything and it's like I'm mousing through mud. For every complete swipe across my entire desk, the mouse pointer will move a fraction of an inch, but only if trying to move left and down. It moves faster going away from the start button. The only cure is to either shut down the machine or pull out the usb cable and plug it back in. At that point it will find and install the drivers again.
  15. Well I've got an appointment this Friday to follow up. I eat 3 meals a day. Breakfast is always at 7:30 in the morning when I get to work. I keep a tin of almonds in the office for snacking. I've had most of the tests--had my heart tested, done the treadmill, had highblood pressure and high cholesteral and high sugar. I was hoping that losing nearly 50 pounds would take care of all of my problems. Yesterday I was in the files at work and my feet started to go numb and then the pain and burning started creeping up. No one could see me and I was getting weaker and weaker. I tried to ignore it and just keep going, but it was too hard. I was fine again within an hour. @gogo. Haven't really made any bread in some time. I don't eat it any more. I did make a cake that got rave reviews for a recent pot luck at work. I didn't eat any myself, but I heard it was great. Now talk about turning the tables; my kids cooked my diner last night. They made baso soup with veggies. It was pretty good. So I am just waiting for my appointment in two days. Still doing my daily mile with my friends; afraid that if I take a day off it will turn into two and then I'll stop. One of my friends took a day off and now sits in the lunch room knitting while the rest of us walk.
  16. Had a bit of trouble last week. Was driving to work when I started to feel like I may pass out. Then my feet went numb. I pulled over about 3 miles from work and got out of the car and then BAM! I was on the ground. Another driver called 911 while yet another driver sat with me to make sure that I stayed awake. Never saw their faces, but I did thank them before I was loaded into the ambulance. They did a number of tests and couldn't find anything wrong. I have to make a follow up appointment with my doctor. I noticed that it always starts with pressure in both ankles and then a painful burning that rises to both knees. After that, my legs feel week and I start to get short of breath. One strange thing about me is I've got the off-beat sense of humor and it is always going--no matter my condition. I can find things to laugh about even when riding in the back of an ambulance with an IV in my arm and an oxygen mask strapped to my face. But this time was different and I really thought that I was going to die. Some kid was brought in by a security guard who never left his bed. The guy looked to be 100 years old and I could see him from my bed. It was like he was staring at me. At one point I started to wonder if everyone could see him or was he really there for me. Funny, what goes through your head in moments of stress. When I talked to the ER doc, I mentioned that it was funny that I am still having these sorts of problems after all the work I've done to get healthy--193 pounds as of yesterday.
  17. Good question. I'll have to dig through the specs. One strange thing, for me at least. I have two HDMI inputs a computer input and component inputs. I tried using the HDMI out on my video card and was not really impressed with the picture quality. Sacred 2 was brighter on the TV but sharper on the monitor. That was to be expected, but I did not think it would be that noticable. I now have everything set up. DVD player on the HDMI and the computer using the computer port via the extra cable that came with my monitor(Two inputs) Watched Lord of the Rings last night and it looked great. I am typing this using the HDTV via the vga cable. Looks great. I would have thought that the HDMI cable would have given me better results.
  18. Well I won't be using it as a monitor on a regular basis. I'll have one HDMI cable going to it from the DVD player and one from the computer, but the the only times I'll actually use it is for viewing photos, Hulu, and the occasional game of sacred.
  19. I've got my single 19 inch widescreen monitor. Been wanting to purchase a second, but not yet. The wife managed to talk me into getting a 32 inch HDTV and I'll be picking it up after work. It has two or three HDMI inputs and my video card has one..... I'm thinking that it would be nice to play sacred at 32 inches--just once.
  20. Oh no. I thought for sure I had seen it before Ice and Blood came out. I'll do some testing on my non addon version of Sacred 2 as soon as I can. If you're eager though you could try adding the below in your optionsCustom.txt file: options.bigHeadMode = 1 @Rotluchs: It soooo funny. Try it, try it! ^^ I see what I did wrong. I'll try again when I get home.
  21. I guess I'll wait for the official guide....can't find an entry for that in my options--perhaps it's an Ice & Blood thing.
  22. Okay, guys. I know I haven't been at a kami for some time, but I do check the forum at least once a day. Bobble Heads? How? Have to admit, it was cool.
  23. Hardly play these days, but I did log in long enough to destroy the guardians(only 4 health flashes.....um....per guardian) It took me about 3-5 minutes to destroy the machine. No uniques or sets, but some nice yellows at least. Very cool find.
  24. Well I've been searching the net since 6:00 AM. Using the advanced search to limit responses to this past month showed me that Netgear claims to be close to completing the drivers. I did manage to get some unsigned drivers to work and I am typing this from my wireless connection. The only problem--not an issue for me, but for the wife--is that I may have to F8 and choose to disable signed driver enforcement every time I start the computer. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well the end of this saga is that the card just stopped working. I returned it to Bestbuy and replaced it with a MIMO G card from Netgear for an additional $20.00. Native windows 7 drivers for this one so setup was a breeze. And there were even updated drivers on windows update. And I have a much faster connection.
  25. I found myself in Best Buy today and decided to take a look at the wireless cards. I see a netgear card with pretty sticker telling me to go to their website to download windows 7 drivers. Cool! I get home and go to the site provided. There is a list of cards there, but mine is not on it. I check the windows 7 compatibility site and is says that they are working with Netgear on this card....no ETA. But it is Vista compatible. I want to send a strong email to them about this sort of trickery so I try to register. I already have an account?!?. I request a new password and find out that the new card I bought is the exact card I had last time. It worked great under XP but randomly dropped the connection under Vista. I feel like a class A sucker! How can you put that message on the box when you know that it doesn't work in 7? Guess I'll be headed back to Bestbuy tomorrow.
