  1. Yes, they act like potions when you use them, but as you noted, only if you have chosen alchemy as a skill. It is a personal decision whether to use these or not. Personally, I have not, but I never experimented with alchemy either. There are obvious benefits if you can spare the skill choice.
  2. I've heard that one too. Just one more of the silly things the characters say when you are afk too long. Kind of like when you go into town and she wonders about shopping -- I forget the exact line, though.
  3. If the car is still safe -- just expensive cosmetic damage -- take the check and buy the carcass back from the insurance company for a couple hundred. We have a 14 year old Eagle that someone plowed into the left rear. Fender and bumper damage to the tune of $2k since the bumper is one of those special coated things -- it alone was almost $1k to fix. But no structural damage of any kind. Since the car is an old rust bucket anyway, we took the "total"ed value of $1500, bought the car back for $250 and netted a tidy sum. Just because they pay you the money you don't have to fix the car. The compensation is for loss of value, not to fix the car. You can do whatever you like with the dough.
  4. The Deer Hunter. At the end, when he just couldn't shoot the perfect buck -- had to shoot in the air and chase it away.
  5. Life leech Who started the Kamikaze Sundays?
  6. When my 90 day free Symantec dried up, I tried AVG. Seems OK, but I really can't be 100% sure. It hasn't found any viruses. I suppose I don't have any but I'd need more corroboration to be certain - hehe. Just because someone tellls me I'm not an ass, doesn't necessarily guarantee it. Especially since I know I am
  7. expand the word with underscores between the letters. Standard type trick to send email addresses etc., that you don't want snooped
  8. I recently bought an EVGA 9800 GT - not s great as I had hoped
  9. Dragonbone Swiftbow 145-179 physical fire poison grey silver gold opponent's chance to evade 23.8 chance to find valuables 11.1 chance to burn 5.5 Helluva nice bow as far as I can see. wish mine were that good
  10. My remarks were intended to not offer solutions, but rather to illustrate that the solution is unknown. I've researched the error and on many forums find each recommendation is either: a) the right solution; or, b) completely inappropriate. No one seems to know what is causing this. It seems to be gaming related -- I've seen posts elsewhere with problems with other new games as well. As I said, I suspect a driver problem, but a bug that has not been corrected even in the latest drivers -- a very subtle bug with DX10 implementation since it seems to be Vista and only newer games.
  11. I had similar problems after installing 2.43 patch. nVidia driver keeps "not responding" then recovering. I've googled and the answer to the problem is: 1. Update driver. 2. Vista error. 3. Heat related. 4. RAM related. 5. Bad video card Take your pick. All either fix the problem or don't, depending upon your particular situation. Me, I lean toward a driver problem, and incompatability with Sacred 2 2.43, possibly related to how the gpu handles certain DX10 calls. I think (no proof) there is something wrong with the way nvidia handles some DX 10 functions, and that 2.43 is using the buggy code. As I haven't had play time in a month, I have not investigated. I plan to roll back to 2.40 and play SP as a test. The problem started for me as soon as I put in 2.43 Of course this is all moot if you have a Radeon card. Then again . . .
  12. HC stands for honor and camaraderie, which is what you find n the HC servers.
  13. The critical factor is actually not the amount of money, but the effectiveness of the money, measured by it's "velocity" and amount = 'mv' - how fast it moves around. If everyone saved all their money (v = 0) then mv = 0 and no economic action. Hence, spending is essential. Borrowing, because of the leverage banks have by only keeping partial "reserves", allows for the increase in movement of existing money, hence mv increases, and so does the economy. Money itself does not actually increase, just the effective utility of the money. What we have are a bunch of IOU's pretending to be money. And, under normal circumstances, the difference is essentially moot (unimportant). But, as you noted, if 'v' becomes too large compared to m, then things become very dangerous, prone to inflation and possible collapse as we have recently seen. The US economy, and subsequently the world economy, was brought to a standstill when the leverage became too large, and a couple money firms shut down. All of a sudden, lending stopped, v = 0, and things crashed. It became obvious that all of the IOU's were really not money.
  14. I'm doing ranged ice damage rather than melee or magic. And he is either reflecting or else has a lot of widd (at least in S1 it was called widd). I usually get him almost slivered without much damage to me, and then -- pow -- I'm dead, or nearly so. But the other, more important question is, does reflected damage retain it's elemental nature?
  15. OK, having finally beaten the Grand Inquisitor, I'm wondering about protecting against reflected damage. I am not 100% certain, but believe he reflects my damage back to me. I finally beat him with the "G", but am thinking that perhaps the correct relics would help, too. Does the reflected damage retain it's elemental type? If so, then when I am pasting foes with ice damage, if they are likely to reflect, I should be wearing ice relics. So in addition to whatever damage a foe does, I should also protect against my own? Especially since my damage is usually quite a bit more than the foes will dish out. A rather newb query from a long time player -- still learning the ropes, though.
  16. You can see it (them?) from the other side in the swamps, and, if I recall, look down on it as well.
  17. Not really a cap, nut if you read too many for an art you don't have skills for, you don't get a full "level" for the runes. (e.g. "Max level without penalty") When you notice you get less than a full point for a rune, it's just past time to stop reading.
  18. You can also get to the swamps from the desert by traveling through the cave that you use to get to the desert during the campaign. In the northeast corner of the desert. Or through the portal on the multiplayer start island (easy to recognize the right one -- it has the wooden plank path).
  19. From what I know 1. Things are distributed about evenly when you campaign together. Each drop is allocated to a player and locked for a time. If not picked up, then it becomes "free" until it expires and disappears. 2. More players can play in a server than can be in a party. A/B/C/D merely designate which player is partied with which others. 3. They'll be in the 20's. 4. No. You ca be anywhere when quests a re turned in. But experience (and loot) sharing requires you to be close together.
  20. Perhaps that's why they are called wastelands.. Anyway, I've rarely been there but seen no quests either.
  21. Fire or ice work well. I usually get him in the teens. Lure him in close to the shore - he seems to be weaker there (the orcs tell you this too).
  22. lizzie lights up with my ancient bark on the PC. They're (buffs) not supposed to go off when you mount.
  23. I thought you could only edit posts fort 24 hours, then they are locked except to moderators. But I could be wrong. . .
  24. No, there is only one CA bar. Equate the CA bar to the weapon bar, as you started to do -- you have multiple weapons to switch between -- so you have multiple CAs to switch between. You only have one weapon bar -- you only have one CA bar, too.
  25. gogo pegged it. Survival Bonus can really boost your stats when it gets higher, so when you die stats drop. As you fight again, it comes back and you regain. And fortunately, it gains faster at lower levels.
