  1. Im still on the servers, but AFK, gotta get in my walk for the day... I need steps for the office team challenge ... bbl
  2. Sorry death in the family last week. between that, family over a bit and my walking challenge I didnt do much gaming of any kind last week. Its 3:30pm my time as I post this and I'm about to go into GW now. I'll post again here when I leave the servers. :-)
  3. going on to the GW servers in 5 min , just haveto lookup the item of the day and quests of the day...
  4. Yes we do have a guild in game. Just let me know when you will be in game and I can invite you to join. With Halloween, thanksgiving and winters day festivities right around the corner I will start being in game more often. (Ive been seduced away at the moment by Oblivion, Runes of Magic and Titan quest leaving me with little time to play guild wars). the object of the game is a)to complete the main quest line in the 4 areas of GW, (nightfall, prophecy and factions with the add on eye of the north) I've been playing over 2 years and have just finished the prophecies main quest line and am about 1/2 way through nightfall and factions and b) to get max titles. Some titles are hard to get like Survivor and some just take a long time to get like Drunkard. There are over 30 different titles to obtain. I love that the game works on a very broad range of systems and even worked with dial up when I still hadn't gotten broadband access. The game is clean and slick and ALWAYS runs. I have never had the game crash due to issues with the game. (some dust was causing issues on my old system for a while causing random crashes but that wasn't the games fault). The community is great and for the most part very friendly and open, especially if you tend to hang out in the international servers vs the American ones. And unlike Sacred you do not need a new key or to change internal software settings to use both American and European districts they run special events on a regular basis and their wiki site is bookmarked on my browser its that good (and officially supported by GW). You get to choose how your charcter looks, thier hight, hair color and armor color. After you get in game you can pick what armor you want to wear. and if you have all the worlds you can wear any of those worlds armors. If you want to spend additional realmoney on in game things you can buy other additional decorative wearable items and such. But you in no way need to spend any more additional money on the game once you buy your copy. Its free to play for as long as arenanet has the servers up and running. Some of your achievements gained in GW1 will be transferrable to GW2 and I think they have hinted that character names might be reserved at the launch of GW2 for those in GW1 who had them for a short period of time. If you are in game and want to catch up with me my main is Lady Jade Greye and I currently have characters able to join every start up area and can also get into eye of the north if you need a tour guide. come join us, if Daemonrocks23 keeps his grades up in school he may be joining us at christmas time ;-)
  5. Its even easier to see it in the morning when lord looks like death warmed ever so slightly over ...
  6. I go to sleep to music or the Tv (on a shut down timer so it doesnt play all night). With all that I have gone through in life my "normal" stress level is pretty high and thanks to having kids I'm a light sleeper. I need the background noise to drown out the normal creeks and squeeks of a house and such. Reading for 30-60 minutes before helps too. If all else fails benedryl is a sleep aid (they market it in the US as a sleep aid under a different name but its the same drug). I wouldnt take it long term but it can help retrain you to fall asleep at a certain time for a couple of weeks... And its not really a habit forming drug with the added benefit that any allergies at night should clear up *g* Good luck, anxiety at night can be a hard thing to beat sometimes.
  7. *hugs* knuckles.... Lord and I are thinking of you.
  8. We have always clapped/congratulated them/etc when they start doing something (be that walking, using the potty, etc), to the point where our eldest does the same for our youngest. Soon you will have to watch your language while driving .... trust me hearing swears out of a 24 mo old mouth is only cute the first time *g* ... Little ones are great copy cats. *g*
  9. If you and the wife always clap when he does something (like walk to the table) then he thinks that is what you do when someone does something, in this case drive to somewhere. ;-) of course he could also be developing a sense of sarcasm too .., *g*
  10. For those north of the us/canadian border how was the earthquake today? I see they down graded it to a magnitude 5 from a 5.5 The US news was full of other stories so there isnt much on the quake but Northern NH felt it along with parts of Vermont and most of NY state. where I am apparently is sheltered by the LARGE granite mountains the town nestles against and I think the granite absorbed much of the shaking but it freaked out some just a few miles north of the mountains here. (NH is not very seismically active so earthquakes, even small ones are unusual, just like tornados which we dont get very often either - we make up for it with strong regular winds and lots I mean LOTS of snow and cold weather) Just wondering who here felt it ?
  11. My toons name atm is Tamryn ... how do I find the rest of you?
  12. Lord's computer lives again! Now on to the next step post repair diagnosis. what worked in the end was removing the ati card and resetting the bios to reinstate the onboard graphics. We forgot to try the other card in his system. What would cause the card to die after only 3-4 hours of use and nothing very strenous (5 min of gw at high settings and 2 min of assassins creed with no setting changes)? Could a wonky power supply do this? could it just be a bad card? the case is wide, the card has massive passive heat sinks and the case has lots of room in it and is well ventilated so over heating should not have been an issue. plus it should have crashed while he was using it for this reason, not die either as he was shutting it down correctly (he didnt notice anything out of the ordinary during shut down) or after he shut it down. Looks like best buy is getting atleast one of their cards back soon.
  13. This is what we plan to try tonight a) trying the system with a different monitor (incase the system set the display to a ref rate his new lcd one cant handle, a diff crt non wide screen one should force a new setting and will also eliminate it being the cable for the monitor b) trying the system with a non usb keyboard (less power draw ) c) trying the other card (same type) in his system (I checked the return policy, shouldnt be a problem to open the other package) d) re seat the ram sticks (we've already tried reseating the grafics card) e) take the card out, reset the bios and reboot using the onboard graphics. if these all fail we will either contact HP about a new computer or take it to the local professional gurus to do more testing. gotta love technology .... *grumble*
  14. the blue hp screen didnt come up, briefly twice got the black starting windows screen (like 10 sec of it) . but that was with alot of garbage on it (distorted graphics). the cards were add ins I bought separately. I havent opened mine yet, was going to do it today til we came home to a dead system.... I would like the option to return it for full price back if possible ...
  15. Furian, those are mcgriddles ... and thats just evil posting a picture of them ....
  16. I think these might become very limited or restricted and not allowed for certain kinds of play (like elder dragon).. that card is just sick and twisted. (yes lord and I still play quite a bit as does the eldest ...)
  17. unfortunately the issue is the monitor goes into power saving mode before the windows log in.... matter a fact we tried rebooting to hit f8 and try safe mode and it never displayed anything on that boot. We havent had a chance to get into bios or safe mode ... *sigh* .... at this point I'm thinking of resetting the bios to the normal onboard setting and just trying to get the system to boot. Other than the temp glitch with the usb keyboard last night the system ram fine and rebooted multiple times as the drivers were installed. He played guild wars and assasins creed on the system and had the system on for 3-4 hours straight with no issues, no crashes, etc.. Maybe the graphics card died .... *sigh*
  18. okay installed card last night. worked great. Today lord starts computer, lights go on on cpu and monitor, hard drive does its stuff, no beeps heard but monitor goes into power saver mode and wont wake up .... We tried doing manual discharge of the systems ( disconnect the power cord, hold the power button in 1 min then reconnect and restart) ... computer came up, briefly got the starting windows 7 screen but with garbage artifacts on it and then again power saver mode. I think its either the new video card or the power supply since windows starts and the hard drive works. System came with intergrated graphics and worked just fine (mine is the same and its still working fine). New card draws power only from the pci e slot. I'm told its about 75 watts. So the new card would be a bigger draw on the power supply. Then again I have read alot of my video card died after 24 hours stories too.... Lord had a small issue I didnt think was related but might be when he first started the system after physically installing the card, he had to unplug and replug his usb keyboard to get it to register which now leads me to think power supply but I'm a bit out of my league here....... Suggestions? Advice? Known Prayers to the tech gods that work?
  19. Its smelly and visable in Northern NH ...
  20. sorry I missed the party earlier ... Happy Birthday Brad!
  21. for those with access to a burger king I find thier breakfast muffins (mcd mcmuffin knockoff) actually tastes better than the original (and its cheaper at the moment too)
  22. I thought it was just a wood fire locally this morning but it smelled strange and made my asthma (whcih is already irritated by my "neighbors" that keep smoking and sending the smoke into my house) really act up this am. So sorry to hear about this. And since I cant breathe due to it I REALLY REALLY hope they get them under control soon....
  23. Lord and I have HP 6310f systems. They have on board intergratd nvidia 9100 chips. There is a bios setting for pci, pci-e and onboard so I know at some point I have to enter the bios and disable the onboard graphics. What I'm looking for is the order in which to do it. I have windows 7 64 bit. Do I a) 1. uninstall the nvivia drivers, 2, go into bios on reboot and disable the onboard graphics , 3) shut down and physically install the new cards (ati xfg hd 4350 w1gb of ddr2, limited by the psu in our choices unfortunately so no 5 series or such atm) then 4) restart and install the new ati drivers? or b) 1) reboot into bios disable the onboard graphics, 2)complete the boot into windows and shut down 3) install the card and reboot 4) install the ati drivers. Will disabling on the onbard graphics allow me to boot into windows to shut down or will I have to shut down from the bios screens? Last time I installed a card over intergrated graphics the system was set up to auto check the slot and auto disable the onboard upon detection. The xfg instructions conflict with the HP instructions a bit. Any advice Great appreciated in the next couple of hours please!
