  1. I have to say I dont understand critical at all now I was assured that MND does add to spell crit chance, dexterity maybe adds to melee crit. Fine. Played around with equipment a bit, the MND part seemed to be correct. Ok. Now ths morning I partied up a bit and a guy claimed that it was actually INT that boosted crit chance… it stuck in my head as INT indeed would be of less importance if it only added to spell damage. So I tested again… and now complete confusion. I couldnt find items with high INT, no MND stats and vice versa, so these are definitely not facts… I cant find reliable facts on this game at all. But anyway Int seemed to improve "Skill Crit Additonal" Mnd seemed to improve "Skill Crit Chance" Halp! needs more testing, somebody halp
  2. Logging in to Lintra, probably with xxENCIxx other possibilities include enci or xENCIx, creative, I know
  3. If the Llama doesn’t like to start slow, he might want to avoid the Soul Hunter and Defender. Pyromaniac Llamas with a destructive mindset would enjoy playing a Shaman or if he’s not obsessed with damage, maybe a Templar. Warriors and Rogues seem to be pretty balanced int he first levels
  4. What a blast this days has been, an exam, a deadline for a paper and a visit to the dentist Hit me with a beer for a change, Ive been thirsty all day no matter how much a drank
  5. Here’s a comparison for the lvl1-5 spells Elec Bolt Damage 28 37 50 66 84 MP Consumption 21 26 33 38 49 Fireball Damage 34 45 61 81 103 MP Consumption 23 29 37 43 54 So while fireball indeed cost more mana, the higher damage more than compensates for all this, and remember that Fireball also has a DNA to boost damage even further which the Elec Bolt lacks. Havent noticed any discernible difference in speed or range. Im still voting for the fireball. HIgher dam – fewer hits needed – more mana efficient (even though it costs more per cast , I definitely needed to rest less while playing the shaman) I dont think a templar can be a more efficient than a shaman under any circumstances. At least not until lvl50. The tempest class seem to have Area of Effect spells with insanely hgh damage, problem is we dont know much about the 2nd class skills yet, and shamans probably have even better late game skills. Edited my brainfart about the MND attribute int he first post, it adds to the MP ofc Edit: 2nd class skills from the korean site Templar/Tempest Shaman/Forsaker
  6. Sleep is powerful indeed, even with the lv1 spell, you can have 4 clear hits with your bolt before mobs wake up. Just remember to back away a bit to get out of melee range because autoattack wakes them up. You're untouchable vs single mobs I think Im going to wait with INT until I find a skill with major destructive powers. I used to love my Elec Bolt, until... until I tried the shaman’s fireball ...Shoot FB... FB again... start running ... oO...its already dead About lvl24 iirc, she’s temporarily parked, Im trying out other classes right now, and while she hasn’t been the easiest to play, she’s still my favourite
  7. looking forward to partying up with you guys I wanted to play a bit during my lunch break, but thanks to my ISP I’m temporarily on dial up, so I’m going to entertain myself by sharing my thoughts about the templar class. Next step will be doing housework just to postpone studying. I’m hoping for some input on the aspects I find mind-puzzling. I planned to focus primarily on healing/support with just enough destructive powers to allow some soloing. But as of now it’s still very possible that we’re going to get wiped, so I decided not to build a perfectly specialized toon, and I may as well try some of the nifty offensive spells. It seems that a twentysomething level templar can still solo surprisingly well, with some patience and your excellent crowd control skills you can take on any regular mob. Healing is very cheap, offensive spells on the other hand eat up your mana quickly. For this I tend to focus of MND when it comes to choosing my equipment, leaving the otherwise tempting, damage boosting INT a secondary concern. MND adds to your MP, boosts your healing spells, and its best and often overlooked effect: it adds to the critical chance of your spells. Neat. Wand or staff: I don’t have a strong preference here, I use whichever has better stats. Wand with a shield adds a blocking chance and more “reinforcement sockets”. Staves offer way better stats for MND than wands+shields and also higher melee damage. You may wonder why melee damage is a concern: when a mob has very little health left, I usually want to beat them to a pulp to conserve mana. Staves make it a lot easier. Now for the skills Elec Bolt: Offers medium damage, not comparable to the shaman’s fireball, but it is your bread and butter. You should keep it maxed all the time or until you find another offensive spell that better suits your needs. Electric Twister: Picked it up after realizing that it is the only offensive skill with a DNA available to boost its damage. Results: Area of Effect effect, which is always a big plus for me, better damage, higher mana cost. However while you’re sitting like a duck surrounded by the mob you take heavy damage – not that it would be a huge problem, as you can easily heal yourself, but it adds additional mana cost which I planned to avoid. After some testing I’ve come to think that sniping/kiting with your Elec Bolt may be more time- and mana efficient. I can see that using Electric Twister along with some other Area of Effect spell (templar/tempest has plenty of those) can turn your toon into a mean Area of Effect machine, but sadly I’ve heard rumours that dots do not stack, they simply overwrite each other. With only one Area of Effect spell available for me at this point, I’m waiting for confirmation on this one. Concentration: Don’t know about this one, it Increases your MP recovery, which is of course crucial. At level 3 with DNA it adds only a single point to my MP regen. As its % based it’ll probably start to shine later on (at lvl5 with DNA it adds +25% to your regen) , but right now it seems pretty useless. Considering that I’ve never ever run out of mana when continuously healing/buffing an 8 member party, concentration may not be of much use for a pure healer. Though it’s probably too early to tell. Sleep: My current favourite skill, it makes soloing a lot easier. At lvl2 it becomes an Area of Effect spell and ticks for 7 sec. Mobs remain asleep while you blast them into bits with your elec bolt. Melee damage or anyone else attacking wakes them up, so it’s not party friendly but a true life saver for soloing. edit: only melee damage wakes up the mobs, party members can freely inflict damage with spells Godly Mirror: it’s still very low to make a difference, but if it works as it is intended, it may very well be one of your most useful skills. Basically you can end up having 70% chance of reflecting 70% of the damage you take. It is huge, especially given how defense works ( 10 points of def decreases the damage you take by one point) As I see it, the higher the damage the mobs inflict, the better Godly Mirror gets compared to defense. Survival Instinct: passive skill that adds to your def, better to have than not I guess, but wont I spend many points on this one Divine Protection: target spell, increases defense, good to have as a support character. Unfortunately its not available until lvl20 and it doesn’t stack with ion shield, practically making the latter redundant. And you’re pretty much forced to take ion shield at lvl10-12, unless you plan to focus on melee. In that case you can take Holy Strike instead. Salvation: resurrects, don’t suppose it’s worth to invest more than one point here Rejuvenation: comes very handy for self-healing, cheap and instant cast. At lvl2 right now, I’m not planning to increase it any further. Lesser Heal : no brainer for a healer. Found the DNA that reduces its casting time to be quite handy. Lesser Party Heal: seems useful too And that’s about it so far. I’ve found playing the templar to be quite a rollercoaster, frustratingly hard at some points but a few levels later it all evens out as you grab some neat skills. You can survive those difficult levels by leeching xp in a party. Btw, does anybody else feel that magic damage hurts a lot? Is there a way to increase your resistance? As I understand defense doesn’t help here. I think youre resistance increases naturally but painfully slowly. I see a fireball coming my way and I’m already smashing my healing key.
  8. Sad But apparently he died peacefully on the sofa, reading one of Terry Pratchett's books. Not a bad way to go Few years ago I started to work my way through the Myth series, cant even remember why I stopped. It may be a good time to pick them up again.
  9. Forgot to add the DNA system to the pros list. Provides endless possible combinations to further enhance/customize your built. And Im gonna stress it once more: its worth a try. It is a lot better than Sacred when it comes to grinding. And as of now, nobody pays, so no "unfair" advantages are given. Griefers unfortunately abound, but you can safely ignore them. Come and play! And as for the lag, the Lintra server hardly has any. In fact Ive only encountered the lag monster only once there *hint, hint*
  10. Ok, we've heard the good, now lets hear the ugly First lets just say that I like this game a lot, but sometimes it sets my nerves on edge. I know it’s beta but still… there are a lot of issues need to be fixed. And wheter it'll happen or not we'll make or break this game for me. I really, really hope they plan to do a major rebalancing. I’ve only tried 3 classes so far, but from my limited experiences and from what I’ve seen and what I’ve been told… there are major differences in terms of survivalability and sheer power. I understand that Soul Hunters will start to shine after lvl30 and defenders might get better after a while, but frankly, I wouldn’t want to struggle through 30 lvls hoping that some day… I may be able to put up a fight. And all this while I see that casters are ridiculously overpowered – I know, I’m playing two of them. A rollercoaster progress of characters are fine to an extent, but this game is taking it a bit too far socketing system… yes, you need kahunas indeed. But when you lose your amplio piece you’ve just spent half your hard-earned money on, you really want to scream. And that was just a single piece of your gear. Even at „very high probability” of success, at every attempt you have a change of failing and then you lose everything: the item, all the xeons (items used to reinforce your equipment, they are hard to come by) and of course the money you’ve invested. And as there’s a random factor involved “socketing” there’s no guarantee that you’ll get a better item (ok, its only partly true) meaning you have to go on with socketing until you get something you like, risking your investment at every attempt. After destroying two amplio rate pieces of my equipment (both hat high probability of success), I’ve really come to hate this system. With passion. It just wouldn’t be too hard to implement socketing in a more reasonable way, let’s say you only lose your xeon and money, but at least you get to keep the item itself with its previous upgrades. XP reduction in parties seems to be unreasonably high – this is purely based on my personal experiences, my templar always levels faster in solo, no matter how slower she kills on her own. I’d love to hear some input on this btw. I’m not completely sold on how defense works, it may very well lead to defense being useless late game, and possibly other balance issues (classes with % based dam reduction skills being overpowered in terms of defense) Anyway we’ll see… Some other minor annoyances of mine: I find myself smashing the keyboard quite often as my toon refuses to attack. Also some baddies seem to flee from me after taking some damage – I can’t target them, yet they can hit me from a mile away while they are on the run. Quest descriptions are messed up. Badly. Don’t trust them, they probably guide you to the wrong direction. Chaste Sactum dungeon. It was one of the most annoying gaming experiences ever. It was more like playing prince of persia than anything. I lost count how many times I simply fell into the abyss, and its not like it can be avoided, there are strategically placed respawning baddies who paralyze you when you want to jump. So damn frustrating. Other dungeons I’ve been to seemed fine. But I now that I think of it, it may even be seen as a positive feature, a dungeon that offers some variation ... There’re two different starting areas available, sadly they offer pretty much the same quests and even enemies. And some features I like (obviously beside those gogo already mentioned) Love the design concept , I easily prefer it over the cartoonish, candly colored looks of other mmorpgs. The world is huge with lots of quests (so far) so I can keep grinding to a minimum. Gore. Of course the gore. But sadly it gets old very quickly, and quite frankly this game is not frightening and even creepy at all. Anyway, despite all its flaws I enjoy it immensely, highly recommended Oh, and you’re big meanies for playing on the first server. The second one even has less lag issues. I don’t suppose there’s an option to transfer characters
  11. Movement speed doesnt seems to get better at all, there's supposed to be some kind of mount available at higher levels. Which server are you playing on?
  12. The basic game is and will be free to play. There are plans to have a cash shop and premium services available for a subscription fee. It’s worth a try. As for the graphics, the environment doesnt look very polished but the characters are fine and fairly detailed. Cant say much about the gameplay yet, it’s been hacking and slashing with the usual quests (kill 10 of these, kill 5 of those) but I keep going back playing so I guess it’s not that bad When you choose your profession at lvl10 your skills get reset, so basically Ive just started the building, but there seems to be a healthy amount of available skills and crafting options Oh and it’s uncensored so you’ll probably quickly learn to ignore the global chat
  13. Enjoyable so far despite the slight lag and the frequent disconnecting playing a level 10ish templar on the Lintra server, name's enci
  14. Finally got it to work, now let the gore begin I’d suggest using the torrent option to download the client then updating it manually instead of waiting hours for the autopatcher only to get various error messages ps game is eating up my RAM
  15. Nope, she? is from San Andreas
  16. Id say you answered your own question I got my copy waiting now, just need that spare time to play. Oh, the hot babes of GTA...
  17. Agreed, the article has some interesting choice of wording. It was a poor choice of text, but it’s too late for me to start a new one. In fact after finishing the first page I had to check if the author was a native speaker of English. Turns out that he is, but he uses very weird sentence structures. After a year of translating almost exclusively legal texts, I didn’t think that I would find a text weird anymore Thanks again for the clarification
  18. I’m working on some translator qualification paper, which is due Monday. Among other things it involves translation, surprise Anyway, I've got stuck with a phrase and I’d be eternally grateful if anyone helped me out. I’m also offering free cookies So what does “like with like” mean? Here’s the context: „Two actors, structurally very different, faced with a fluid world order. The interaction is there, and has become significant, but it is not an interaction of ‘like with like’, structurally and perhaps ideationally” It’s a text on the China-EU relations and after some googling, my wild guess would be that ”like with like” means something along the lines of ”identical with identical”, but I’m really not sure and I just can’t get these things wrong Could anyone shed some light on this?
  19. There are indeed some RPG elements in the latest games – you can choose your clothing, you have to eat, you can exercise to boost your strength etc etc– but I’d hardly call it an rpg. As for the biggest draw... it has to be the fun factor for me. And I don’t mean the killing sprees or any particularly violent aspect of the game (though when you find an infinite rocket launcher you might want to play around a bit , but the characters, the quests and the storyline are all full of humour. Though sometimes it’s only funny if you can appreciate the morbid side of humour – like running people over with a combine harvester . But sometimes I just drive around aimlessly and listen to the radio stations. The talk radios and commercials are simply hilarious. What else? oh yes, the complete freedom, especially when there such a big area as in San Andreas with numerous mini games, optional side quests and hidden surprises. And generally it’s good blend of driving and shooting and makes for a very enjoyable playing experience, except for some of those annoying flying quests which are frustratingly hard. But above all, it’s fun
  20. Hehe, nice Havent been following the developments around Sacred 2, so much of the stuff in trailer is new to me… so let me ask, the wizard guy at the end, is he a playable character? Because I may be imagining it, but Im seeing similarities: forgot to mention how awesome the music is
  21. Dont think its gonna be some background music material. The vocals would be too distracting and Blind Guardian’s music is far from being ambient anyway. My guess would be that it’ll be used only for the quest with the band and maybe during opening videos and/or credits edit: Nevermind, there’s gonna be only one song. And it means no new BG single either But found a short video of motion capture in progress. And weeeeeeee its in Budapest. zomg hey are here Some pics from a Hungarian IT Magazine
