  1. That is an interesting question - I know that the unique mounts will raise the regen times for all of your CAs (pretty significantly at higher levels - I think I'm in the mid 60's for regen penalty with my High Elf), but now I wonder if they also indirectly further raise them by hitting your buffs as well. I wouldn't normally think so (since they both are a CA regen penalty, and the Combat Arts are already hit pretty hard by the mounted penalty). It is something I'll try to remember to test tonight to be sure.
  2. From my understanding, lightsabres are not unique items and I've only seen them at a vendor asofar. However, I've also only seen them with fairly high bargaining skill (My L 81 Bargainer has ~240 Bargaining with 75 hard points). You will likely want to get your Bargaining to Mastery ASAP to have any good chance at having a vendor offer them to you, since I saw a marked improvement in the quality of offers when I leveled from 74 to 75. Also, any bargaining "guides" I've seen tend to suggest keeping Bargaining at about 2-3 time your level to maintain usefulness, so you'll want to get a few more bonuses to Bargaining/General Skills/All Skills as well as putting in hard points. I tend to pick up Lightsabres when I come across them, and may even have a spare red one. If you'd like, send me a friend invite, and I'd be happy to hand it over if I have it.
  3. The short version of Rotluchs' informative post is that if you spend a skill selection on Riding, you will actually see the combat art regen penalty for all aspects drop significantly, most likely to underneath the bonus you get to your chosen aspect. My Seraphim (who has a point in riding and some all-skill equipment) does see a modest decrease in her Revered Tech regen times. My High Elf sees the same as you, and has a small increase in regen times for her Pyromancy - because her skill points were spent elsewhere.
  4. +1. Kushiel's Dart is one of two books that has caused me to miss a day of work, as I couldn't stop reading it until I finished it (about when the sun was rising the next day). I am not quite as enamoured with the later books in the series. They are good, but IMO they didn't match the quality of the first, as a lot of the tension that really drove that first book was lost. Still, at least read the first. I like Cherryh more for sci-fi than fantasy, myself. To be honest, I think that she is the best author that I have seen in creating alien psyches and working out the implications of the interactions with them. Faded Sun is one good example. My preferred is the Chanur Saga. One of my favourite authors, so I'll add my agreement to this suggestion.
  5. Huh. No clue then. Did a quick google search, and it looks like it happens occasionally, and as of 5/25 they said they were working on something (no ETA of course, and I don't know if it was already supposed to have been fixed or not) So sounds like your options are deleting your save file completely (I.e. all characters, settings, etc.), hoping for this eventual patch, and/or maybe putting a bug report on the Ascaron official board
  6. Were you trying to trade with a friend on your local machine? (I.e. someone without an xbox live account) If so, the message was not that you have had your save manipulated in some way, it was more that the trade is not allowed to keep the possibility of that from happening.
  7. My personal suggestion is the Second Sons Trilogy by Jessica Fallon. Intrigue and intelligence are the weapons of the main character, which is a nice departure from the norm (where those can certainly be found depending on the character, but usually to a much lesser extent).
  8. Well that certainly looks decisive. Thank you for actually running those and informing the rest of us
  9. Cool. Send me a invite when you have the option - I probably will not be on tonight, but you should be able to catch me in the morning or afternoon tomorrow or sunday (assuming EST time zone, GMT -4)
  10. This at least I can answer. It sounds like you are riding a horse. To cast your spells and keep buffs active, you need your unique mount. Follow the directions here, get a wind serpent, and you'll be good to go. You will see a general increase in CA regen times if you don't take riding as a skill, but against your random trash mobs wandering the fields and roads, it isn't too much a penalty.
  11. This is speculation only, but I had been previously under the impression that the chance to hit noted on the details was the chance to hit from the attack and defense values only. The reason I say this is I have a High Elf with Incandesant Skin modded to reflect close combat damage. I tend to get hit less often than the descriptions of the last few enemies faced really say I should have. Now, this is only anecdotal evidence based on assumptions and preconceptions, of course. And also based on a temporary buff, not a permanent part of your character. I think really, we'd have to run some statistical tests to be sure. (Start a timer while waiting for Orc cave to load. See how many potions are needed to survive for a minute of them wailing on you. Rinse, Lather, Repeat. Now, do the same with CR.)
  12. That's kind of an open-ended question. It really depends on what type of character you are looking to play. Offensive? Defensive? Ranged? Caster? Melee? I'd suggest browsing the Sacred 2 Guides subforums for each of the character types for ideas. edit: oh, and sorry to hear of the loss of your character
  13. Yes - going from 217 to 175 would have been a loss of a 68.5% survival bonus if my calculations are right, which sounds about right for a level 47 character. And the charater stat screen does include the survival bonus in its numbers.
  14. Short answer is "Yes". You will need to start a new free mode each time you want to take them down, but that is the only thing you will need to do different.
  15. I may be sending you a message - anything you looking for in return?
  16. Here is what is inside my war chest: Seraphim: Infinite Revenge: Chestplate of Fury (head, L50) Illuminated Skies: Helmet of the Halo (head, L50, L35 x2) Revalation of the Seraphim: Wisdom of the Celestial (head, L60), Gown of the Celestial (shoulders, L30), Fate of the Celestial (legs, L30), Wings of the Celestial (wings, L90) Twilight of the Gods: Wristguards of Dusk (arms, L50), Sofia's Protection (legs, L20) Sofia's Benevolence: Legguards of Benevolence (legs, L35) Niokaste's Blade Dance: Niokaste's Grip (hands, L45), Niokaste's Wings (wings, L45) High Elf: Adornments of the Ancestors: Cowl of Antiquity (head, L45), Sleeves of the Forgotten (arms, L45) Faladal's Blizzard: Faladal's Eye (head, L45), Faladal's Sound (arms, L30) Druid: Detheya's Agility: Detheya's Cowl (head, L90) Leaves and Twigs: Armor of the Roots (chest, L60) Eternal Flame: Pantaloons of Eternal Flame (legs, L50) Shadow Warrior: Deathbringer's Warhammer (2handed hammer, may actually not be unique?, L84, 2.2% life leech among other things) Infernal Torment: Diabolical Chestplate (chest, L50) Dendera's Tactical Genius: Dendera's Center (chest, L60) Armantin's Legacy: Armantin's Boots (feet, L75) Inquisitor: Saraki's Path to the Netherworld: Saraki's Downfall (arms, L75) Miscellany: Various +3 or +4 all skill jewelry in the level 40-60 range with some other secondary effect (likely not all that good) on something else. I'm working on getting my bargainer a few more levels, and hopefully platinum difficulty after which I should see the bonuses improve on these. I'm looking for items for my current characters - for my Seraphim, I'm looking for Endijian's Artifacts (Chest, Waist, Legs, Wings), Infinite Revenge (Chest, Shoulders, Wings), or Origin of Seraish (Chest, Wings, Legs). For my High Elf, I don't have a lot, but am mostly looking for the Celdrahil's Pandemonium, Garments of the Storms, and Velaria's Heirloom sets. I'd prefer the level range of 60-90 for these, or close to it, but I am not greatly choosy if you have something that is outside that range. edited thread title to include system - foolishly forgot before edited to update 6/26/09
  17. Does every point count for two, or just a couple when you dump the stat points into a stat? More likely, you are seeing the effect of your survival bonus being translated into a few extra stat points when you are adding multiple at a time.
  18. Actually, despite your statement otherwise, that does help me a lot. I know there are a number of variables that go into any choices, and this just looked like a not very optimal choice from the perspective I had. Knowing there is a benefit to the +CA +Aspect abilities (it sounds like 100% of power increase, only 50% of regen penalty increase?) makes it so I can add those abilities back into consideration.
  19. You want that to go lower, not higher. So if you were at 200%, your CA regen times would be twice as long
  20. Pretty sure that the Finally Rich quest is only different in the person you deliver the information to. In Shadow, you sell it to a rival. In Light, you deliver it to the brother.
  21. So I have been wondering for a while why one would use +Combat Art or +Specific Aspect Equipment, unless they come with other nicer bonuses. My logic is that I would rather eat runes if my regen times allow for it, and save the slot for something else that cannot be achived by eating a rune (a blacksmith rune, +All skills, +Damage, etc). But hey, I'm pretty new at all of this, so there may be something I'm missing. Is there some other benefit to using +combat art equipment that I've overlooked?
  22. Hmm - it does seem a bit high - but I've taken before Level 20 with all the characters I've started so far, so I can't say if there is an escalating regen penalty without the skill as you level..
  23. It isn't that you are necessarily doing something wrong - regen penalty is just always built in to any armor piece, including sets. Yes, taking Armor Lore will help this. There is a reason that it features to at least to a small extent in a lot of the posted builds on the site.
  24. Personally I like the cleaner lines of this skin anyway, even if it is a bit sterile. I would also suggest that we have some alternate skins as optional once bandwidth is fixed up a bit, but keep a streamlined one as the board default.
