  1. I recorded a video for The Kobold Chieftain as a test (and posted it on the respective page), but I didn't see a need to record every quest. I've been working via the system of "whenever someone is confused about a quest, then I'll record a video and post it to the Wiki". So far, the text explanations have been sufficient to resolve all confusion.
  2. I'm not sure if things have changed in the newer PC versions, but on the console version: Chance to Disarm functions exactly as Ryan stated. When the opponent is disarmed, their weapon disappears (thus, only applies to enemies who are carrying weapons, such as the Katana-Wielding Temple Guardians). In the case of the enemy TGs, their attack animation changed to a bare-fisted animation. I can only assume that they did less damage (I wasn't paying attention, I just noticed that TGs were punching instead). I'm pretty sure I've seen "Chance to Disarm" as a weapon modifier in the console version, but never on armor. I recall Chance to Dismount being removed from the PC version, but works in the console version. All that it does is dismount a mounted enemy, causing the former mount to become a separate enemy. For example, if "chance to dismount" is triggered on a Kobold riding a boar, the Kobold will fall off (much like a playable character dismounts) and the boar will become another enemy. I don't have the hard numbers to back this up, but I'm pretty sure that it's "easier" to kill the separated enemies (as in, it requires less overall strikes). Whether the mounted enemy has an HP or an armor bonus, I'm not sure.
  3. The "Connection Status" symbol simply tells you whether or not you can access the online features (such as Leaderboards, Online Play, etc). To join an online game, choose "Start Game", then "Quick Match". This will bring up a menu which allows you to browse all online games which you are eligible to join. It does not automatically connect you to a game (unlike the "Quick Match" function in other games). You can also choose "Custom Match", if you want to limit the search even further, but usually "Quick Match" is the best option (as there aren't many people hosting on a normal basis). To host an online game or play a single-play game, choose "Start Game", then "Create Game". You'll then come to a menu which allows you to choose the settings for your server (hosted on your PS3). Game Mode: Your options are "New / Continue Campaign", "Free World" or "Free World PvP", to choose between Campaign or Free World. Difficulty Level: Self-explanatory. Online Mode: "Online" or "Offline". Offline is the single-player and couch co-op option. Online opens the next two options to specify the settings for your hosted game. Join Policy: "Private" (invite only) or "Public" (random people can join via the Quick Match or Custom Match menus). Level Gap: "Max. 2", "Max. 5" or "Max. 10". This determines the maximum level gap between you and anyone joining the game. So, at Max 10, you can be level 20 and have anyone between level 10 and 30 joining you. Couch co-op is activated by selecting the offline mode and pressing Start on Controller 2. See the information here to ensure that your couch co-op experience runs smoothly: http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:2-Player_local_co-op_%28PS3%29 Also, if you choose to play offline, it's usually better to unplug your ethernet connection and shut off your wireless connection to reduce lag.
  4. Ack. Sorry to cancel, but I will be at a funeral on Friday night. We may or may not be rescheduling to Saturday. I'll let you know on the PSN.
  5. To be entirely technical: Not true in Canada (where both Aaron and I live currently, at least according to their flag). The cheapest, bare-bones computer that I can find in warehouse stores is $250 CDN, as it's on clearance sale right now. (Given the specs of the computer, it's cheaper to buy this pre-built one than to purchase the parts to build one from scratch at equal specs.) I can't even guarantee that it'll reach the specs to run Sacred 2 at equal quality to either console version (though, it should run it). In comparison, a PS3 is $200 CDN when it's not on sale. Back on topic: I'll add you to the PSN Aaron. I don't run Teamspeak anymore (haven't used it since FF11), but I do have a USB headset. A few of us will be starting new characters on Friday evening. We have at least 1 spot open, so you're welcome to join.
  6. Hi Jeff. I'm still active on the PS3 version, as are others who I am networked with. I'm not 100% sure what the public population is like these days though, as I rarely play in public games these days. Finding others who play (via here and GameFAQs) might be his best bet to make the most of online.
  7. On the PS3 version, I've seen it a few times (offline, no internet connection). Maybe about 3-5% of my attempts. However, it seems to happen much more frequently online, especially if someone has a laggy connection (especially if they're the host). Most of the time that I've seen the boss refuse to summon the undead, it has been in the middle of a lot of objects (such as trees or fences). I have a feeling it has something to do with the boss trying to summon undead, but being unable to because of the objects in the area. I tend to pull the boss into an open area when fighting it offline (I often attempt it online, but sometimes my attempts aren't very successful), so this might account for my low incidence rate.
  8. I just did some testing. Selling Price +X% does work, just the math works a little differently than stated in this thread. When buying and selling items without Selling Price +X%, the selling value is somewhere around 1.2% of what you bought it for. My tests ranged between 1.15% and 1.25%. For example: If an item is for sale at the merchant for 1000 gold, it can be resold for somewhere between 11.5 and 12.5 gold. If the item has Selling Price +X%, it will sell for more than that amount. My tests ranged between 1.25% and 1.3% of the selling price. For example, an item with Selling Price +195.9% sold for 1.29% of the buying price. There seems to be a base selling price (which determines how much gold Selling Price +X% will give as a bonus), on top of some random variance.
  9. Oh, ok. I see what you're doing now. Equipping the weapon / armor / ring / amulet with Selling Price +X% does not increase the selling price for all items sold by that character. The increased value only applies to the original item which the modifier is on.
  10. Are you socketing rings/amulets with Selling Price +X% into armor/weapons, to boost the selling price of the armor/weapon? If so, then that may not work. On the console version, Selling price +X% only applies to the original item it was on (found or bought), not anything else it has been socketed into. I can't confirm anything else beyond the console version (and likely up to patch 2.34, as the console version is somewhere before that patch).
  11. On PS3, it was Day 1 DLC. I wasn't willing to pay extra money for content which easily could have been included in the full game. I also have no intentions on buying it at any point now. Here's to hoping they don't pull the same stunt with Sacred 3...
  12. Hey Trevor: Sorry, I wasn't around for most of yesterday (or today for that matter). Not only did I lose a job to someone who was willing to work for about $10,000/year less than I was (effectively bringing themselves $15,000/year below the minimum average salary rate for the position), but my grandfather (who has Stage 4 cancer) collapsed during his walk and fell into oncoming traffic. Thankfully, the cars stopped in time, but we had to rush to the hospital when the medics called. I should be around Friday evening EST (barring another emergency).
  13. Difficulty doesn't matter (any character can freely switch difficulty levels when setting up a new game via the Create Game menu). The only restriction for online is that the characters are within the specific level range from the host character. As the host, you get to choose a range of +/- 2, 5 or 10 (when you create a new online game via the Create Game menu). At least this leaves you with the option to simply start a new Campaign on the Silver difficulty with the same character, so not all is lost.
  14. Trevor: I have multiple characters within 10 levels of yours. I'll try to catch you sometime today.
  15. Did you exit from the cave exit by walking out (not using any town portals)? Also, check your PSN. I sent an invite to add you. I could probably troubleshoot this in a few minutes (assuming that one of my characters are around your character's level).
  16. Hi Elwynn. Just to let you know: The PSN ID which you posted above doesn't work. I just tried to add you, but no success.
  17. If it's the mission where you had to go into the cave to get the Scroll of Fire (with all of the scarabs and chests with mummies), then you need to pick up the scroll and exit the cave via the entrance (instead of warping out). It's one of the few quests that requires you to exit an area first before warping. You can still finish the quest by running back to the cave, entering, then exiting. Then you can freely warp back to Khorum.
  18. Xpadder is working really well for this game. I'm using a PS2 controller with a USB converter, with a setup similar to the console Sacred 2's control scheme (potions and other functions on the D-Pad, and palette swapping with L2 and R2 to provide a lot of skill buttons).
  19. Wolfie: That's entirely possible (I can think of ways in Audacity, Adobe Premiere and via ripping the MP3 from a YouTube video), though I'm not 100% sure if I'd be able to separate the battle taunts from the combat sounds on the PS3 version (I'd have to check to see these are two separate categories in the volume options). Gogo: I can't imagine it being very difficult. If you or Schot have that same watermark still, I can include it in future videos (and eventually insert it into the pre-existing videos).
  20. YouTube would be able to handle the standard 1080p videos, and it would default to a lower quality for the Wiki link, but it could be viewed in higher quality by accessing the YouTube page itself. Overall, it would improve the quality of each video on the Wiki (it wouldn't be as grainy), in exchange for minimal (milliseconds) additional load time. Where I'm really debating about the 1080p is for the side-by-side videos. In order to keep the overall video at a normal/reasonable size (and avoid the issue which Schot posted an example of), each sub-video needs to be smaller. As a result (especially with standard definition videos), each video loses a ton of detail. I know with 1080p videos, it's entirely possible to have great quality sub-videos and stay within pretty much any overall video size restriction. I had to use this same technique with a head-mounted display to create 3D stimuli for an experiment...and the sub-videos needed to be tiny to reduce eye-strain, thus 1080p was the quickest/easier solution. (Oh, ethical boards, always making my life difficult. One day I will move to a country where research ethics isn't required for perception experiments. ) I'll run some tests tomorrow and see how different quality recordings turn out, and see if different sub-video trimming techniques would work as a feasible alternative. If I can pull it off with something lower than 1080p, then side-by-side videos will happen for sure.
  21. I don't believe that there is ingame support for it, but you can probably download a profile using Pinnacle. The boss fights are especially likened to Monster Hunter, just a lot easier than that series Thanks for the info Ryan. I'm debating about playing around with MotionInJoy (as it will allow direct mapping of buttons to key/mouse inputs). I used Great Sword in first Monster Hunter (the Long Sword in the future ones), so the large swords in this game looks compatible.
  22. Thanks for the input Wolfie. Unfortunately, there are quite a few limiting factors in the original recordings (resulting in the original Scything Sweep video), generally due to my recording equipment back then (notice the different in audio quality). The original recordings that I had of Scything Sweep that involved multiple mobs were distracting, or were generally poor quality. In order to work around some of the other limitations (such as only having one character with an unmodded Scything Sweep), I had to manually level up new characters without choosing skills (can't edit characters/equipment on the PS3 version to speed the process up). Unfortunately, this also explains why, sometimes, I have to choose a better quality clip recording during Ancarian night. In order to set up quality recordings, I have to grab the opportunity when it presents itself (according to obstacles in the environment which affect the camera, number of mobs, mobs placement, potential camera placements, etc). For example, the 41 seconds of Frenzied Rampage clips are from over 30 minutes of raw video and multiple attempts at recording the same CA. Not to mention that I can't actually save any loot/experience that I earn from doing this (as I need to be able to redistribute skills points and CA mod points freely, depending on what I'm recording). I'm definitely going to switch around some of clips in each of the videos (I agree, the DW and 2H Sword versions of Sweeping Scythe have flare to them), but likely little will be removed. The purpose of some of the clips are to show the different animations (according to each weapon type), not to show how the CA is best used. I think I've managed to balance these goals fairly well for Scything Sweep, with all clips except one hitting multiple enemies. There were many where I was able to hit 3+ mobs, but the animation itself couldn't be seen well (which is why I started to only record against Kobolds). As for the "Die with dignity" quote: I'll go back to the original video and see if I can extend that. There's probably a reason why I didn't do it in the first place (given the scenario, it's likely that I only paused long enough to provide a starting point for another CA), but I'll dig around and see what's there. If not, I'll likely take that clip out (as I noticed that I put the DW animation in twice...at the beginning and the end). Thanks for the continued support Gogo. As for the videos with the CA Mods, as I'm going to toy with the idea of using split-screen videos (original CA on the left, modified CA on the right). That will have a great deal of limitations also, so I won't have those done until later in August. I'm also considering upgrading my recording equipment again, so I may re-record everything once more (in 1080p this time, as Sacred 2 is one of the few PS3 games which runs on native 1080p). I need to run a Cost/Benefit Analysis on this still, so I'll post further details if I do go this route.
