Draksa 0
My ideal playstyle with an elf would be to run through lots of mobs, gather as many as I can then Area of Effect them all down together. Which are best spells/combo's that I could pull this off with? Link to comment

I like frost flare modded for the spread and explosion. works good on tightly grouped mobs. Expulse modded for undead is soooo much fun in north swamp area with mobs of undead. Link to comment
Draksa 0
thanks locolagarto Frost flare seems to a bit weak at mo and all frost spells have lot slower regen time. Nothing is modded or specialised yet. Incendary shower seems to most powerful but cant garuntee all mobs are going to packed so tight. level 8 noow and still havnt chosed an aspect to focus on. Fire seems quicker to kill but ice has the advantage of crowd control and survivability. Thought I look up bestiary on sacred wicky to see what things are more prone to. It seems quite an even split between fire and ice and looks like theres a need to be able to be good at both in different situations. Link to comment
claudius 104
Magic coup while not an Area of Effect works quite well. First off don't worry if it says your chance to hit is 50%... You'll still hit everything in my experience except miss a little on boss and champion (a little). So same deal round up a mob. Its easy to get coup regeneration very low while still a 1 shot. So then when the mob is all running down on your character you start hacking them to pieces. Each MC does not hit the whole mob but the recharge is so fast that its easy to kill the whole pack. You need to mod it first with the stray damage mod before it really gets good. Make sure to take heavy damage mod on bronze and leach on silver imho as I haven't had problems hitting through platinum (though I am using some whets). I think with socketing I can keep hitting things in niob at least I hope Edited February 17, 2010 by claudius Link to comment
chattius 2,534
Magic coup is nice if you like melee and even in hybrid playstyle. It is a weapon attack so regeneration per hit (if you are on a console or have AddON) will work. This allows to have a spell at a high level and cut down its regeneration time with a weapon hit. You can do some funny builds this way: Frostflare sniper- modify frostflare for area damage, equip yourself with a bow and combine if with magic coup. Frostflare will slow down the enemies so the magic coup shot will more probably hit the slowed monsters and doing a secind explosion. With a bit training and optimnizing the equipment you should be able to kill a group before it reaches you. Tempest/thrower- You stand inside the tempest(s) and throw shurikens at approaching enemies with magic coup Terrorist: you use shadow step modified for invisibility(6 second at higher levels) and explosion and do some spells and magic coup throwing while the enemy can't see you We tried different hybrid playstyles with our shield maiden and the above ones work nice once you get used to them. Sounds fun, thanks guys My elf is level 20 now and so much better then my seraphim. I gone frost but will probably get delhpic focus next time I get skill available for shadow stem and grand envigoration mods. Stayed away from magic coup as I would like to stay away from mellee if possible(not the case now) but love the sound of terorist and thrower. I got a nice shuriken in chest with life leach / hit which I will try with magic coup. At mo I am relying on glacial thorns but my aim needs work as quite often I am firing shards in opposite diresction to mobs. btw, what do mean by "tempest" Edited February 17, 2010 by Draksa Link to comment
chattius 2,534
Sorry, wednesday after a long german carneval weekend. 3 days playing tuba at street parades. I think the correct name is raging nimbus and not tempest. Sorry I play the german version. Link to comment

Sorry I play the german version. Hehe, thanks Tried magic coup today. Its so good, almost kills champions in 1 go. Must better for single target than anything else I use and its unmoded too. Liked it so much I spent 100,000 on a chest armor with some good bonuses for MC as well as 2 other good bonuses. Bargaining and lots of cash is dangerous for the shopaholic. Link to comment

Delta! 987
I found that glacial thorns (spread out in a wide radius or in a narrow path), followed by blazing tempest is a good crowd controller, or against bosses/champions. Even if an enemy is resistant to ice, then the fire will follow very quickly. I also use Frost flare and ancestral fireball(moded with hot pursuit, so you slow down the enemy with ice and hit him with a fireball (or 2). I don't think that it is a specific build. My HE is only on level 30 now, and I have Concentration, Magic staffs, arrant pyromancer lore, mystic stormite focus, mystic stormite lore, constitution and armor lore. will further take delphic ancaria focus, arrant pyromancer focus and combat discipline. oogliefrank 0
I don't understand why there is even a discussion about this. Blazing Tempest for me has been at least 5x better than any other Area of Effect. I keep it at about 4.5-5 sec regen and fire away. Normally nothing but elites even makes it to me as everything else falls dead from the burn by the time it reaches me. Now admittedly this is only through Silver so can't speak to higher. It just seems to me respectfully that nothing else even compares. Link to comment
Unholy Hungers 1
Blazing Tempest, Blazing Tempest, Blazing Tempest! Admittedly, I start to zone out cause it makes the game a little too easy. I have my regen time down to just over a second so its pretty much my default attack. You see the damage/experience numbers pop up constantly for enemies you can't even see! Link to comment
