this is new to me Darkstar One demo

Yup, 's quite good, I beta'd it & if you generally suck at this kind of game, you can upgrade the DSO to get turrets, which make life a lot easier (on easy, you'll still get hit lots on the harder difficulties, but they can make the difference between someone like me enjoying it & getting frustrated).

DarkStar One is developed by Ascaron which have made the best of an existing OS based on32 bits encrypt. As gamer you get the sensational feeling of gaming on a 64 bits Platform/OS. The GFX & sound is really awesome and I was amazed by the game, anyhow some areas are not able to play in the demoversion, ( the game tells you that) anyhow those areas that are able to play in demoversion is stunning great. The game is a composition of Sci-Fi/RPG, you are a spacewalker/pilot and very well equipped with Lasercanon/Mines and stuff when travel in your space vechichle and able to shot down target. The story is based upon a rescue action in HyperSpace, and the gamer is given good guidandce how to play the game, when he/she gets on with the mission.

If you are a skilled archade gamer you will do excellent and have more then fun. I am not that skilled Archade gamer, but I certainly could do my best of my poor skills as Archade gamer, or merely able to move mouse mouse and hit target fast.. repeatedly, (for for those gamers who known to Ascarons Sacred, and are skilled to beat DCay with one beat ref. to game Sacred) This metaphore to give a vision of the need to be fast with mouse movments. Middle mousebutton is needed to be in use, which cripples me somehow and I am not so far, able to assign any other key the function of middlemousebutton. (I have an optical mouse customiezed for me by IBM, and its function is to help/improve me read documents online extremly fast, my middlemouse works in four directions. I am not only a gamer, I am also a reader.)

Computer spec is somewhat similar to CPU 2.6 Ghz/1024 MB RAM and decent grap/videoocard 256 mb ram or higher. 5.1 surround system. Direct X9 compatible with pixel/vertex (last is MB)

Optional 4 axis joystick.

My cpu did not fit the needed spec but did great anyhow as well as sound, even if I did not have a 5 Channel surrond system, I had awesome sound, I have a 160 W stereo connceted to commputer.

And Finally, this a demo of a game but the demoversion is very good and the game is from my point of view to be expected to be something special.

Note, the player/gamer must have a middle mousebutton that works as middle mousebutton, normally do.

FYI:The game is not affected or disturbed a by bandwitdht in usage/any mediaplayer in standby or any disturbance at all.

I include somes screeshots but they do not give Darkstar One the credits thae is obvios when in game. The game is much better then the shots.

Hey this is actually quite fun. I've done a few missions so far, acquired an artifact that upgraded my ship and, umm... Got blown to bits, haha. I think I'll break out the fraps and stick a couple vids on youtube later on. Maybe get some action footage!

The first pic is the main menu (upon startup).

Second & third are from the intro as well (when you get given the DSO).

Fourth is the trading screen (the more green pips an item has, the cheaper it is, so you buy from a station which has the max number of green pips & sell to a station which has as few green pips as possible). You can also smuggle stuff.

Fifth screen is where you can select assignments to earn cash (like killing pirates, escorting freighters, spying on people, etc).

#6 is a ring seen almost edge on (from on of the training missions where you get told what everything does).

#7 is targetting a mine, staring into the sun.

& the last one is from the intro (fairly early on), bad things happening.

Turrets?! /drool

Not yet but you can be sure that I will veeeery soon. /wink

I'm still savin for that new drive unit tho. Ugh. First things first eh.

BTW, I've noticed some kind of "influence?" system which shows you what kind of a build you are heading towards. Be it Smuggler, assasin and 4 other possibilities if I remember the screen right.

Could you shed a bit of light on this Llama8?

I've only got the "bonus" for two of them, one of which I can't remember (higher payments for taking misisons from the "bulletin board") & the bounty hunter (IIRC it's higher bounties for killing pirates).

Basically once you've done enough of one of the 6 things (killing pirates, trading, smuggling, doing missions from the bulletin board & so on), you get some form of bonus to that activity. So for the killing pirates one, IIRC you get more cash pirates are more likely to attack you in Anarchy systems (I'll check when I get home).

The pirate killer one is probably the easiest to get as you're going to be killing a lot of pirates during your game (cause they'll attack you).
